AmunRaOlodumare: @bold...that's what you have been brainwashed to believe. Why was Jesus, his mother and father asked to run and hide in farway Egypt in Africa, the land of Ham (Ham means brown or sunburnt in Hebrew even till today), to take refuge from the persecuting Pharoah? Why not Libya or the land of Aamu, if he were light-skinned? Where is your common sense? |

bigfrancis21:By that time period (and even earlier in the Delta), Egypt was already inhabited by people of foreign origins from various foreign conquest of Egypt (Hyksos, Assyrians, Greeks, Macedonians, Romans, etc). Massive migrations from Western Asia and Europe, as well as subsequent demographic expansion, changed the ethnic composition of Ancient Egypt to what it is today. Diluting the proportion of African ancestry we can see in modern Egypt. You can read some reference about it here: CHANGE IN THE ETHNIC COMPOSITION OF MODERN EGYPT: We all know in terms of ethnic composition, modern Egypt, is much different from Ancient Egypt. Contemporary Egypt, is mostly an ethnic admixture between foreign invaders and conquerors and indigenous African people. Autosomally, as a whole, they tend to cluster more with Eurasian especially the Middle East. In the south, populations like Nubians probably cluster more with Africans. All this is because of massive immigration from Europe and western Asia which started already in dynastic time, culminating in the Hyksos (Aamu) foreign rule during the second intermediate period, as well as during the late periods up to now (Assyrians, Arab conquest, British colonization, etc). As a consequence the many invasions of ancient Egypt, the population has changed over the years. There were Hyksos (Heka Khasut) from Asia, who melted into the Delta Region around 1500 B.C.E., and then a series of invasions by the Assyrians, Persians and Greeks. With the arrival of large groups of Arabians in the seventh century C.E., the racial character of Egypt began to change.- From The Oxford Encyclopedia of African Thought, Volume 1 (2010) - From A Brief History of Egypt by Jr. Goldschmidt Arthur (2007) from Ethnicity (Riggs, 2012) from A Companion to Ancient History Edited by Andrew Erskine (2009) The Muslim conquerors did not attempt a mass conversion of Christianity to Islam, if only because that would have reduced the taxes non-Muslims were compelled to pay, but a number of other factors were at work. Arab men could marry Christian women and their children would become Muslim. Large-scale Arab immigration into Egypt began during the eighth century.from A History of Egypt: From Earliest Times to the Present by Jason Thompson (2009) 2 Likes |

AmunRaOlodumare: You are quoting excerpts from a Eurocentric book that seeks to perpetrate the claim that ancient egyptians were a mixed race people and could not have been black to have built the pyramids, just to prove your point? The book lies because Herodotusand Aristotle at some point in 300BC when they wrote their book about the Egyptians mentioned that they were black with wooly hair. If your Eurocentric book you quoted from claims Egypt had begun to be invaded as at early as 1500BC, how come Egypt was still a black country as of 300BC? Mind you, Egypt first fell to an outside influence at a point in 300BC. Before then and hundreds of years after, ancient Egyptians abhorred inter-marriage with foreigners, preferring to marry between themselves, as Horus pointed earlier. The bible tells us that much later after Jesus died and St. Paul, a Hebrew, went to foreign lands to preach, he was frequently mistaken to be Egyptian. 'Are you not that Egyptian' as they would fondly ask him, 'how is it that you are able to speak Greek, e.t.c?' Acts 21:38 In as much as I don't want to sound religious, the bible is an accurate historical book that should be relied on, and not Eurocentric books written with some racist agenda to discredit black africans of their history. Paul was often mistaken to be an Egyptian, one from the land of Ham (black people), and each time he was confused for an egyptian he had to assert his Hebrewness. Mind you, this was happening around 30 - 35AD, some 350 years after Egypt fell to its first foreign inquisition and yet at that time the Hebrews were still mistaken to be Egyptians. Which tells you that at that time, ancient Hebrews were racially similar to the Egyptians and their blood lines were still intact. During the Roman empire, the Egyptians were known to be a black people. Herodotus and Aristotle confirmed this in their books. The racial similarities between Egyptians, Ethiopians and Hebrews were always been noted in the bible way back to the old testament. For example, Moses, a hebrew, living and growing up peacefully among the ancient Egyptians in the house of Pharoah for 40 years without the Pharoah knowing that he wasn't his flesh and blood. When Joseph's brothers came to Egypt, they could barely recognize him from the rest of the Egyptians as their brother because they were all racially the same at that time. Ancient Egyptians: 1 Like

macof: This is not a religious matter nor christian vs ATR matter. This is an african issue on a wider scale, setting aside religious differences. There is an on-going war to discredit africans of their history. For hundred of years, africans have been made to believe they have no place in the civilization of man, neither have they any notable inventions or achievement and Egypt being a thoroughly african civilization is trying to be discredited of Africans and attributed to some other 'superior' race despite overwhelming evidence that points to an african origin. Accepting that Egyptians were an ancient black people would mean blacks originally invented mathematics, science, medicine, philosophy which they taught the ancient greeks and romans - a fact that they would rather not admit to. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Do you call all those nairaland bashing one another commitment to ourselves? Tribalism is about pure hatred and contempt for one another between tribes all over black Africa. How does this relate to the topic? it has everything to do with the topic and to prove that some black people are purely indiginous to sub-sahara Africa while some black migrated from into Sub-sahara Africa. Where then did this immigrants come from? Immigration into Africa has begun for about 34,000 years. The original indiginous African had their own specific religion(it was always monotheist) 34,000 years ago, Lemuria sank into the pacific, A lot moved into Africa with a new type of religion, while others remained in the pacific islands and australia as we have them today. THE INDIGINOUS PEOPLE OF AFRICA DIDN'T LIKE THIS NEW RELIGION, HOWEVER, THEY ACCOMODATED THEM. 22,000 years ago, Atlantis too also sank into the atlantic, a lot moved into Africa with another strange religion, while some of them moved into the america continent (later the mongolians who crossed the baring straits, those who reached the southern part of americas intermixed with the blacks there to make red indians, some who could not, camped along the way, these were the eskimoes). THE INDIGINOUS PEOPLE OF AFRICA AGAIN DIDN'T LIKE THIS RELIGION, WHILE THE ONES FROM LEMURIA DIDN'T LIKE BOTH OF THE RELIGIONS, BUT THEY ALL ACCOMODADTED ONE ANOTHER. They lived peacefully together, from the top of Africa down till the tip, which at the time included the middle-east (there was no suez canal at the time, one could go on land from sudan to Yemen). Now to the part where people hate, but i will write it all the same. After delibrate breeding of brown skin black person into another brown dark skin person, they produced a lighter brown skin person and after 7 generations of selective breeding, they produced the first set of new people (the greeks, spanish, latinoes etc, this people features are not really white with black eyes and black hair). 7 generations of mixing this new race for another 7 generations, the phoenicians were produced,(this included the persians, arabs, middle eastern etc). Mongolians were produced after that, and from them the caucasians. (i know you all hate this). During all this breeding process, Some blacks were born along side these new people. This blacks were the one called HEBREWS. Children of YAHWEH. Because it was Yahweh who was the head of the selective breeding. They started having problems with the light skinned people there in Pelan, so they migrated to the middle-east where they made a home in Palestine and Jerusalem, they brought with them their Hebrew religion that Yahweh gave them. soon after wards, these light skinned people moved to the middle east, they adopted the black people religion because it was superior to what they practiced, the same people also moved to the arabian places. Islam and this Hebrew religion was infact the same thing similar to those of north african where blacks were living. Light skinned people caused troubles again, divided the religion into two seperated entities and fought amongst themselves, while the blacks in paletines and arabs (most) migrated into Africa(egypt). sooner the light skinned came there too causing troubles. The hebrews moved down, some deviated the hebrew into Islam, anyways they all moved into Africa(sub-sahara) WITH THEM CAME SEVERAL RELIGION; INDIGINOUS SUB-SAHARANS DIDN'T LIKE THIS, BUT THEY ACCOMODATED THEM. THERE WAS A LITTLE COMTEMPT ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE IN RELIGION BUT THERE WAS PEACE. NO TRIBALISM AT THIS TIME. Tribalism started with the slave trade, that already started with the blacks in arabian peninsular, syria, yemen, morocco, egypt, palestines(the blacks that remained) these were the first batches of slaves to be taken by the caucasians trading with their arab brothers. Later they came into sub-sahara. This is the point where and when tribalism was ignited. Racism brought forth and ignited that differences in our religions. the indiginous in order to save themselves started capturing the hebrews and selling them, only for them to fall into the same pridicament later on. the mozafockers white people came back again after they improved slavery into colonization (slavery abroad into slavery in our home), with them, they brought christianity. Christianity is the only religion that ain't ours. The same thing that happened to us in Africa was the same that happened to the blacks on the indian sub-continent. Now you may all begin to call me crazy, instead of picking up books to read to make research and deduce the truth by yourselves. macof: |

@AmunRaOlodumare I will ignore ur insults maybe you are in a bad mood today
With this, more is known about upper Egypt than lower Egypt, as such nobody can say with assurance how the lower Egyptians got their culture either through trading with the levant or having common roots Consider The utter difference between pre-dynastic lower Egypt and black Africa 1. The Merimde culture had no cemeteries, but buried their dead in their settlements while the black Africans take burial seriously and erect tombs for the high and rich and separate lands for burying the dead 2. Their Pottery had no designs 3. The Maadi culture did develop cemeteries but had no ceremonial funerals, very unlikely of a black African people 4. In lower Egypt servants weren't buried with kings, upper Egypt and most of black Africa...especially in West Africa did this Relationships between lower and upper Egypt before 4000BC isn't known Evidence of the earliest settlements in Egypt where agriculture was practiced is in the north (Fayum A and Merimda), where the domesticates are thought to have been introduced from SW Asia (Trigger 1983: 17) It's left for people to wait for further information or throw opinions around, but you are NO AUTHORITY on ancient Egypt 1 Like |

bigfrancis21: take my advice, there are beautiful civilizations in sub-Saharan Africa that beat Europe in probable exception of Rome. This hype on Egypt is too much and causing unnecessarily insults, lies and curses. There's Kush and Nubia which controlled Egypt for some time and gave the Egyptians much of their knowledge There's Ife, Oyo and Benin of southern Nigeria which have some links with Nubians. There's Mali, Ghanian and Songhai empires, there's Kanem-Borno there's also the Numidian kingdom with vast black population in their Army We need to go deep into African history, many of those tombs and groves need to be excavated, oral history should be taken seriously. We lack historians. 1 Like |

macof: There is no evidence to prove the links between the Nubians and South West Nigeria, either ancestrally or in contact physically. Ancestrally, DNA evidence proves no relationship whatsoever between the Nubians and the South West of Nigeria. Paternal Y DNA Haplogroup: The Y DNA is passed from father to son and can be used to trace paternally related tribes who share a common male ancestor. Nubians: R1B (10.3%), J (43.6%), E1B1B(23.1%), B(7.7%). Yoruba: B(8%), E1B1A(92%). Igbo: E1B1A(89%). The remaining 11% ancestry is yet to be discovered. Maternal L1(mtDNA) The mitochondrial DNA is passed exclusively from mother to all of her children and is often used in genetic studies to determine peoples who share a common maternal ancestry. In human mitochondrial genetics, Haplogroup L1 is a human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroup common in Central and West Africa. It has two subgroups: L1b and L1c. L1b: Haplogroup L1b is most frequent in West Africa. It is carried by 17-20% of the Senegalese population, and is common among Nigerian Igbo, Mauritanians, El Hierro, Gran Canarians, Akan people, Algerians, the Lemba, and Egyptians. L1c: Haplogroup L1c reaches its highest frequencies in West and Central Africa, notably among the Mbenga Pygmy peoples. (see map).[5] Among the Mbenga, it is carried by 100% of Ba-Kola, 97% of Ba-Benzélé, and 77% of Biaka.[6] Other populations in which L1c is particularly prevalent include the Tikar (100%), Baka people from Gabon (97%) and Cameroon (90%),[7] the Bakoya (97%), and the Ba-Bongo (82%).[5] Common also in São Tomé (20%) and Angola (16-24%). http://www.fsigenetics.com/article/S1872-4973%2811%2900126-8/abstract#sec0085 From both paternal and maternal DNA testing for both tribes, if there's either of them that is, at least, distantly related to North Africans, it is Igbo. This relationship might explain the striking similarity in the Igbo pyramids and Step Pyramids of Egypt. You have a point, there is need for more historians of African cultures and history. Africa needs to tell her story herself and not by an outsider. |

Arcsniper: And this is the fault of the caucasians? How? When blacks sit and wait for the white man to teach history, why won't they tell it to suit them? How many black historians do we have? How many blacks are even interested in history? Even on Nairaland some morons say Africans were naked before colonialism, some say Africans had no knowledge of science, were dirty and all sorts irritating sounds coming from the mouths and words they type. Don't blame white man blame ur brother and yourself for sitting and waiting for them to excavate and write books and make videos about your continent then claim what they wish Upon all this it's however more disgusting that some Africans are so lazy that what they do is counter-claim upon information digged up by whites. Let's set things straight and learn to be truthful. Hebrews weren't black and it's not about whites, whites claiming middle eastern civilizations are honestly dumb Let's see all evidence about the Hebrews nothing says they are black, all we have are manipulation tactics and Bible verses taken out of context, which make the blacks look even worse. So desperate for relevance that we resort to lies 4 Likes 1 Share |

macof:I'm sorry, I didn't mean my argumentative style to come out as insults. I intended to attack the ideas not the person which I respect. You are right about the cultural influence of the Levant in the Merimbe culture. Upon verification, I was wrong earlier (I did use the iirc form) about the pottery which had Levantine influence. Let's recall that ultimately it's the Tasian/Badarian/Naqada, coming from the South (related to ancient pre-dynastic "Nubian" area cultures) which became the foundation of pre-dynastic and dynastic Ancient Egypt. It's quite possible this cultural influence could have existed with limited instances of admixtures with the Levant. Although as any instances of interaction between people (trading, etc), there would undoubtedly exist instances of admixtures : For this you must take this into account. " Moving to the opposite geographical extremity, the very small sample populations available from northern Egypt from before the 1st Dynasty (Merimda, Maadi and Wadi Digla) turn out to be significantly different from sample populations from early Palestine and Byblos, suggesting a lack of common ancestors over a long time. If there was a south-north cline of variation along the Nile valley it did not, from this limited evidence, continue smoothly on into southern Palestine.73 The limb-length proportions of males from the Egyptian sites group them with Africans rather than with Europeans. " - Ancient Egypt: Anatomy of a Civilization (Kemp, 2005, p.54) If they are the same people, or highly admixed with them, how come the analysis of the human remains says the contrary? Pre-dynastic Lower Egypt is notorious for the lack of archeological sites, which may simply reflect the lack of settlements in that area in that time period. Ultimately it doesn't really matter because the foundation of the Ancient Egyptian state lays in continuity with the development of the Tasian/Badarian/Naqada culture. And for the original topic of this thread, it doesn't really matter if Ancient Egyptians were black or not. Or even if Jesus was black or not (which he obviously wasn't.). Even if Zulu are blacks, it doesn't mean Nigerian people must adopt Zulu culture and customs more than those of Ancient Egyptians or any person/people deemed black. African people are made of various populations, each with their own history (which also include shared origins), religions, customs, cultures, etc. sharing both similarities and differences between each others. At the end of it, each family can even pray and communicate with their own ancestors and grandfathers if they want to. That's African beliefs. It's also true for many traditional spirituality and non-Abrahamic religions around the world. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Toroo is named after the Toroobe also known as the Tukulor, a Fulani speaking people in Senegal/Mauritania. With that said, my point is Afro-Asiatic languages came from Africa, and not the middle east. So it is highly probable and most likely the case that Ancient Arabs and Jews were both black. Most Afro-Asiatic speakers are black....not white. As aformentioned, the bulk of Afro-Asiatic languages are found in Africa, there are over 150 alone between Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon. 3 Likes |
