One of the best jobs out there for those who want to work in the medical field, but not necessarily as doctors.
Do you know how many people go to Opticians each day? Bros it's lucrative. . . Do am if you like am, otherwise, time dey go!

Your asking this question in response to what rheether posted leaves a lot to be desired about you and your intentions.
In simple language; do you have any kind of passion about this course, to make you sacrifice 6 years to study it, or you are only interested in it's financial rewards after study?

No university degree or course of study guarantees that you would become rich after undertaking it. Your commitment to it will rather make you forge a path to succeed in it, even where many have failed.

Study a course because you love, understand and have the passion for it, not because someone tells you it would be a potential gold mine, or not.

Wrong choice, if you ask me. Spending 6 stressful years in University for this course is not worth it. Unless you just wanna answer Doctor.

I would advice you to go for Medicine. But if it seems too difficult to gain admission for that, you go for Dentistry/Nursing or Med. Lab. Science.

this field is not well known and is underestimated. but I can tell you for free that it's quite lucrative

In Nigeria, it is lucrative. You get to be called a Doctor, they do internship like doctors do and they are paid well. Many of them even buy cars while on internship

Optometry is good. Many universities don't offer it so there's no saturation.

It's a professional course and you can practice on your own.

WRONG perception of Dentistry.
Dentists do not just handle toothache. Hope your grandma will also remove that tooth, if its due?
Note, Dentists can still do their postgraduate training to become Maxillo-facial surgeons...

Dentistry is better than Optometry in all ramifications.
If you have an eye problem, I know you'll prefer seeing a dispensing optician to save cost. But if you have adequate knowledge and want to seek a professional consultation with respect to your eye problems, you will go for an Ophthalmologist. NOT an Optometrist.

Optometry is not worth the 6years university stress.

Hey.. Don't I have right to my own opinion again?
I don't have eye problems but I have visited up-to-date hospitals with state of the art eye care facilities on different occassions... That's to tell you how well I appreciate those two eyes..
But for my teeth... Hiss I dey use am open coke bottle
