A school already has an Internet connection from MTN. They have a router, and many switches that share Internet service to a networked IT building having over 200 computers. But this school wants to deploy wireless network to various faculties so that other faculties and hostels about 1km away can also have Internet service, and students can browse the internet using their PCs at the comfort of their hostels and classrooms about 1km away from the IT building. How do I go about it? Where are the network gurus in the building? This question is for you

You could let the battery run down so it prompt you to connect the charger
then charge to 100. From now on
Let the laptop ask you to connect the charger or when you get battery low message
before you connect the charger. Please refer to http://batterycare.net/en/guide.html

If no joy, go to bios by pressing f2 on startup then you'd see bios scrool down to power management
and check the status of the battery. this is possible on a dell laptop. if it is hp googl hp battery test and test the battery

thank you sirs for your help. i have downloaded and updated the bios driver as you guys suggested but the problem still persists, plus now the system hibernates at will even when the charge level is 25, 30 or even 40 percent. and when it hilbernates, it wont power on unless i put it on charge. the system is really given headache, i bought it as used from eBay not more than one month ago . what are you guys suggesting, should i just go and get a new battery and everything will be alryt. the system is pavilion dv6 1355dx. cc denies1941

you have to either scan or format the pc.download smadav antivirus and use it to scan. Better approach will be to format to avoid infecting other important files in your external hard drive, memory card, flash drive etc.

formatting is not always the solution. Ha! shocked
sure its not the only solution but for those who have important files in their external drive, they won't want to risk inserting it to the infected system.some virus can hide even if scanned with antivirus. For this reason, one has to properly scan the pc over and over again to avoid spreading of the virus to their external drive.like me in particular, ones i notice an unusual virus, i will format asap because i value what is inside my external drive than inside the pc since i have back up

I don't think we asked you to download a bios update, did we ? Please refer to the above

Try f10 instead of f2 and follow previous steps to download hp battery test or search for it from your start menu
when you're in windows

Please check no stuck keys on the keyboard.

Try it without the battery or the charger and see what happens.

it wasnt you sir.

danies1941:

If the charge is up to 10%-then go to the website of the manufacturer like Dell.com or HP.com -type in the model number of the laptop like HP Pavilion dv4-then download the BIOS driver. To download and update BIOS-your battery must be at least 10% and must be on charger.

That is one possible solution.

Other issue could be that the battery has been "misused". Many laptop users misuse their batteries. Like charging it to 100% and leaving it unused for several weeks or constantly allowing it to go to zero and go off amongst other things. If battery is defective-you have to buy another one or if you know how-open up the battery and change the cells.

that is the post. what re the procedures for the battery test?

did he ask if the man has a back up? Did he attempt to tackle the problem? Capital NO! This said, i still hold and stress the fact that formatting should be the last resort. I'm not measuring shoulders with any one.

I usually scan my PC with a powerful anti virus, ccleaner to name a few. I would not reformat my laptop for that reason
unless it is a boot sector virus that cannot be removed or a corrupt registry H key local machine to name a few. There is no
wrong or right answer, it is entirely up to each individuals. However, If a business customer complained of a virus we act quickly to
prevent it from spreading to the delicate host server. In addition, I would in practice clean the infected laptop because customers like
long term fix and not short term.

The issue we have with NIGERIA ENGINEERS is that format is a quick & fast solution to any software problem a system is facing, that is why if a client should see that his/her system is not functioning very well the next thing I WANT TO FORMAT my sysyem (because the OS CD is too cheap) .... Good Job Deji!!!!

Are you sure you have not changed some screen settings? It looks like a screen format set for someone with dyslexia.

you've just said it.depends on individual.also, if the infected pc belongs to a client, the first stage is to check for a fix because some of them may not have back up.reformat should be the last option if a solution is not found.

Dear Qhal,

If you'd like to retrieve your files Google recuva if no joy try http://www.easeus.com/resource/format-file-recovery.htm

Just got me this fairly used sleek Hp envy x2 laptop with
detachable 11.6inch touch screen, which can serve as tablet.
It uses Windows 8 OS. Trouble is when the screen is on the
keyboard dock, the battery charges only up to 54% and no
more. No matter how much longer you charge it, it can't go
beyond 54%. And once it is not connected to power, the
battery drains fast.
However, when the screen is detached and used alone as
tablet the battery charges up to 100% level. The battery is in-built and can't be removed.

How do I troubleshoot and repair this with a software plse? I am desperate.

go to your C drive, open the folder name windows.old click on users and get the required files from according to the user on the previous OS.

Note, the windows.old would be numbered according to the number of times you re-installed windows
