Its obvious this country is made up of 3 competing tribes with each trying to play down the importance and contributions of the other. The yoruba's hatred consequent of their fear of the Igbo dominance cannot be denied. The best movies in Nigeria were produced by Igbos, then why the thinking that they've got nothing to air if given a station? Its a shame that while the SE and SS keeps the economy of Nigeria floating, the others always want to downplay their importance. Hausa and Yoruba have collaborated to make the Igbo irrelevant in politics (politics being a game of number, not necessarily creativity or intellect), but still find them as treat. I weep for this divided country 6 Likes |

softysparky: What a tool. You are so shameless to denounce your language in front of people and declare how elated you are to pick up and master the language of those who have absolutely no qualms in berating and antagonising your own culture and people. To term you a complete disgrace would be downplaying it. ***even at gunpoint, I would not watch an Igbo movie....*** that is your supposed comment. Better consult your parents to tell you your true origin 'cause you sure as hell ain't one of the proud Igbos I grew up knowing. 6 Likes |

What I don't fully understand is how this is any of you's business? Anything Igbo related seems to make y'all jittery. I've read some comments on here & its just very disheartening how quickly this thread is turning into an igbo-bashing thread. Slowly & surely, this whole hate & tribalism is taking root in our hearts. let's hope what happened in Rwanda won't find its way to Nigeria. My 2kobo 6 Likes |

QueenColeen: So nice hearing this from an open minded nice lady like you. Nigeria would ve a very great country but for the hate. History has it that Hausa and Igbo had the best relationship (even in governance) not until the Akintola faction caused a problem btw both tribes. The Igbos planned a coup to salvage the western region which was in chaos then but got into more trouble with the north as the Yorubas too denied them. An average hausa doesn't hate an Igbo man. Now its very much ok i must say to attack someone who attacks you but it is wrong to attack and abuse a whole race because some random goat feels inferior to you lot yes there are some of my igbo brodas that inferior to other tribes but that doesn't give room for tribalists(most don't know they are one anyways) to come online and abuse over thousands of igbo people due to the senselessness of a particular person..the average(normal) nwafor igbo is basically striving to be even better than his brother from the same family who is doing wonders in his field and doesn't notice all too much what people from other parts of the country are doing why? Cus the competition between ourselves as brothers and sisters to do better to become better human beings is bigger than any senseless competition with any other tribe again why? Because an average igbo man believes he is better than the next person no matter where we find ourselves..stop abusing the entire igbo race cus of senseless comments of a few goats and yes there are yorubas in the east that speak igbo fluently especially in awka in Anambra state and also Onitsha...isn't that the essence of the one Nigeria project so kini big deal? 3 Likes |

Nollywood is already igbo monopolized,so they don't need a special channel. All they need is just to improve and get better, that's all,you don't owe nobody any explanation nor try to impress any strong man somewhere. |

This is a business opportunity for all of you that have video studios and u do auditions... You better start producing igbo movies in large numbers.. Sell these movies to DSTV pple direct if u like.. But let there be something to show the world first |

sanmibukunmi:They are just like GEJ led government...smh....Igbos know how to flood things that will generate money but always ignore the standardization of the said thing....in tuface's voice ' all them know na just to make a naira' whereas Yoruba and Hausa work on things to have the best before they start thinking of what to gain from it(which is always the best if you want to get to the top)...that's the difference 5 Likes 1 Share |

DerKaiser: Firstly I made that comment not her. Yes, I wouldn't watch an igbo movie @gun point - it gat no content. Maybe, I might watch it when it has a content(I don't nibble on mediocrity). When I see people like you, advertently exude unconscionable level of fatuity, inferiority complex, garrulity, querulousness and petulance. I just sit back and watch. To bandy words with you, would be an affront on my well-groomed sensibility and intellect. Your level of assimilation is turbid and way below par... Please, bear with me if I don't indulge you again. Right now, it's only apposite that I ignore you__ I think your brain is on Auto-reverse. Thanks. softysparky:Leave that random twerp. He should go work on his self-esteem. softysparky: I don't need to go through your disgraceful post again. Once is enough and my cognition is intact. Thanks. You are just a shameless self hater for that tasteless "gunpoint" comment and the more your kind remove themselves from greater Igbo affairs, the better. Seems like nobody taught you anything about dirty linens and public or keeping your trap shut if you have nothing sensible to say. Edit: My apologies if the comment wasn't from you. ChristyG: Igbos have always been at the receiving end because majority of the strangers happen to be Igbo. Let's not go far from the topic. If Dstv's reason for not having Igbo station is because they think its not marketable, then they tell themselve lies. The entertainment industry got to this height because of the aggressive marketing done by mainly the Igbo marketers in Lagos and Onitsha. |

[quote author=deeplow post=31415417]No disrespect to the igbos. I love igbos. Truth be told, there aren't enough content to air. There is an igbo channel on startimes, and they barely have anything interesting to put on, and it is characterised by repititions. If dstv were to eventually open an Ndigbo channel, I am sure even igbos will get bored after a while. Popular Igbo Nollywood actors have to forget all the pure English movies they act in. Promote their culture to the world. Most Indian actors speak good English, but they still stick to their language in movies, and theybare respected everywhere. Every week, at least 15 yoruba movies are released, Even though half of them are nonsense, it still gives room for options. Igbos should release as many as possible too. I would be glad, if they can work on this, and produce plenty many Igbo movies. Maybe from there, I will learn enough Igbo to woo Chinweizu(my life long crush).[/quote .for the first time in my life i see a yoruba sounding like this without being tribalistic, dont get me wrong. but on a topic like this ull always see yoruba pple abusing igbos but u have made difference, even though it sounded tribalistic a little but u actually wrote sense thats what matters i love ur comment. the best on the this thread |
