Hello Nairalanders,

I recently got a visitors visa to south Africa after being rejected once. This time it was 'non appearance'. My question is how real are these non appearance visa since I didn't submit the application myself, the agent claimed he knows an insider in vfs. Application was submitted on Friday and visa came out on Tuesday. Pls could this be real? And how do I go about confirming it cos I'm a little skeptical

PLEASE HELP. THERE IS DS WEIRD THING HAPPENING TO ME. IM ALWAYS OVER CHARGER WHEN I USE MY FIDELITY MASTER CARD HERE. THE EXCHANGE RATE GOES FROM 18 TO AS FAR AS 33NAIRA. IVE LOST ABOUT 2000RANDS ALONE DS WEEK. PLEASE DOES ANY1 KNOW WHATS WRONG. PLEASE HELP

I had this same problem too. The thing is, when you withdraw with a nigerian debit card, south africa takes like 15percent for tax and your bank also charges between 300 and 500 naira.

I don't know if there is a way around it. Internet transfers don't recognise local banks

Since you used an agent, he should be able to inform you as to why you were denied. It could be the reason you alluded to and could be a result of fraudulent documentation used by an agent.

As to your second question, let's think about it. Wouldn't it be necessary to take your baby's picture for the passport? Secondly, even if they succeed in getting the passport without your baby being present, stamping out of SA means immigration says they see your baby leaving SA. Unless you use illegal channels, it's impossible.

My advice, go to the embassy there in naija on the days for SA citizens, explaining that your daughter is a citizen. Then speak with the staff on ways of getting your daughter's passport. There may be a way out of this since she has her ID book. Don't let security prevent you as this embassy belongs to your daughter. At that level, your daughter has a right to enter without being stopped while you don't have such right cos you're Nigerian. However, your baby needs guidance, hence you must go in as well.

Cheers.

Also, you don't need to stamp out of SA before you stamp in. People stamp out of SA with SA passport and stamp into naija with Naija passport and vice versa.

And BTW, while you're there in naija, get naija passport for your baby now before you reach SA.

Cheers.

tanx dear,I later saw why they denied me,its as a result of invitation letter nt signed, the thing is when my agent gave me my application to submit, the invitation letter was nt signed, after my submission of visiting visa with my babys document,I had a call frm the embassy dat they need me to bring an inv itation letter dats signed, they called me on the 24th,and they said I must bring it before on the 28th of dat month, which was last month,I called my agent and told him,he said he will call the organisers to send him another invitation letter with a signature, which those people didn't reply him,and time was running fast,so he told me he will sign it himself dat I shouldn't worry, dat it won't be a problem as long as they see the signed invitation letter,I went in with dat,so in a weeks time ,me and my babys passport came out,the reason for the refusal was based on invitation letter nt signed, lemme explain myself more better to u,I once overstayed in southy like 3years overstay, with me using an assylum then, when I was about to come home with my baby, the immigration charged me for overstay in their country 3000rands,when I want to apply dis visiting visa of recent with my baby,I use a new nigerian passport and my baby also has a nigerian passport,my agent told me with me using a new passport, dat my overstayed issue won't show, its only at 0R Tambo it may show, and I will give them their 3000rands,did the consular found out dat I overstayed in their country and never want to put it in the reason for visa refusal or its just only the invitation letter signature problem, pls I want to ask u,after visiting visa refusal, can I reapply immediately, before I'm thinking if I can come to SA with my baby with d visiting visa, dat I use my baby valid visiting visa with his south african birth certificate dat ve his south african id number on there to apply for his south african passport there, and also if I can use my valid visiting visa(before it expires)to apply for a permanent residence through my babys south african id,can it still works like dat or the rules ve change in south africa for me to use visiting visa to apply for my permanent residence, should I come with visiting visa or I should apply for study permits for myself and do visiting visa for myself, pls I need ur vry best advice on dis, tanx.

Hello gurus in the house, @samtol, @tyop etc please is it possible to get a study permit with a admission from a business school fr MBA course which runs for 2years and six months. The mode of the program is that all assignment is to be submitted through email but workshop (once a month) and exam (twice a year) to be taken in person at the school campus. Will the embassy in Nigeria grant a study visa?
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by tolma28(m): 8:12pm On Mar 18, 2015

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by tolma28(m): 10:29pm On Mar 18, 2015
With the new immigration law it is not possible to convert a visitors visa to other types of permit (although I will neva underestimate d power of money exchanging hands). But above all I strongly advice legit ways of getting visas. Shalom

I remember your story.

It MAY be possible to get the PR with your baby's ID. I can't say it's not. However, I am also not sure if it is possible or not. Unfortunately, I am not at liberty (time) to go through all the letters of the new law. Do yourself favour and read the relevant sections yourself. Also, let an agent in SA advise you.

Cheers.
