My greetings to you today VO.
Please i have an urgent inquiry.

Is it right to go do my medical now since am already scheduled for an interview in 3 weeks to now?
Someone posted on VJ that it should be one week to interview date. Please ma is that true?

Thanks.

Best regards,

David T. Maxwell.

It's best to let the panel physician know when your interview is and ask her what she recommends for the date of your medical examination.

@visaofficer please is there a way i can pay for my uscis fee from my Nigerian bank account or can i go pay at the consulate?

Or does the cash have to come from a US account?

The fee can't be paid at the Consulate, unfortunately. I think it can be paid from any bank account, as long as you have a credit or debit card that works internationally. The USCIS website says "Provide a Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover Card, or debit card; or U.S. bank checking account and routing numbers" -- but it doesn't say that the credit or debit cards have to be linked to a U.S. bank. Has anyone here paid with a Nigerian credit card? If so, let us know!

By the way, here's the USCIS link with information about the $165 fee. Many people have trouble finding their A-number -- this link explains how to do that, along with other helpful tips.

Unfortunately it is impossible to get an earlier date (unless there is a true emergency). Remember, all the people with earlier interview dates have been waiting longer than you have! We've added appointment slots and will even be interviewing on a Saturday next month to make sure we see people as quickly as possible.

The consulate is working on Saturdays, that is indeed selfless. I would wait and hope it won't be too long from now, Thank You Ma.

Dear vo,please is it possible to travel to the US with a non-immigrant visa for the purpose of birthing so my husband can be present and I get a better care while a pending spousal immigrant application is ongoing my husband is a US citizen and resides there. The visa was granted when I was single and have used it to visit my husband twice. Birthing in Nigeria alone isn't something I want to experience as I can get maternity leave and my husband can't get paternity leave off work. Thank you on your anticipated response.

This is a question for my non-immigrant visa colleagues at https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening .

KMENaziRapper:
which medical tests will be done to an applicant?

To quote the CDC:

The medical examination procedure consists of a physical examination, an evaluation (skin test/chest x-ray examination) for tuberculosis, and blood test for syphilis. The vaccination requirements include vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

Communicable diseases of public health significance include—
Tuberculosis
Syphilis
Chancroid
Gonorrhea
Granuloma Inguinale
Lymphogranuloma Venereum
Hansen's Disease (Leprosy)
And the following two disease categories--
Quarantinable diseases designated by any Presidential Executive Order. Current diseases include: cholera, diphtheria, infectious tuberculosis, plague, smallpox, yellow fever, viral hemorrhagic fevers, severe acute respiratory syndromes, and influenza caused by novel or re-emergent influenza (pandemic flu).
Events that are reportable as a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) to the World Health Organization (WHO) under the International Health Regulations (IHR) of 2005 (currently polio, smallpox, SARS, influenza, and other public health emergencies of international concern.)
Some health-related waivers may be available for these diseases.

By the way, I'm happy to report that being HIV-positive is not a barrier to immigration to the United States.

Good Morning Ma, Yes Ma thats me God Bless you Ma.

London's telling us that they haven't received the file from NVC yet. Once they do, then you can ask them to transfer it to us. I'd say send them an e-mail every week (cc'ing us) asking if the petition has arrived. Hang in there!

Please note that we will be closed to the public on Friday, May 22.

This is because Friday, May 29, is Democracy Day! We usually conduct trainings and complete administrative work on the last Friday of the month, but in May we celebrate with you instead. smiley So we'll need May 22 to do the necessaries. Please bear with us!

You are welcome to celebrate with us.

I have a question though it is not exactly about immigrant visas.
When a US passport holder travels to the UK from Nigeria for a holiday do they need to fill any form . I know Uk passport holders fill an ESTA when travelling to the US and that's why I asked.

Ma Thank you so much I really appreciate not just your help but the promptness of how your handling my case God bless you ma.

Dear VO,

Nice work you are doing here. Keep it up.

Ok i have 2 questions for you today.

Firstly, I am scheduled for an Immigrant Visa interview in June, I have done the medical screening and have obtained the result in a sealed envelope which i am to bring to the embassy, but surprisingly I have not been told the result of the screening. Wouldn't you agree that I should be privy to such information? Is it safe to conclude that I am medically cleared to Travel?

Secondly, I have looked at my Interview Letter (P4) over and over again. There is a conditional statement that should ordinarily be understandable but appears a little confusing. It goes thus; "If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income tax return to the visa interview" In my own case, the AOS along with Federal Income Tax return (not Federal income tax extension) was submitted since 2013 and everything was complete. Now I do not know if there is a validity period for AOS which may require 2014 Federal Income tax return document. Not forgetting the fact that the case was approved and completed in February 2014 based on 2013 AOS document.

Please what is your thought on this.

Cheers

Hmmmm. Well, as a U.S. passport holder, when I travel to the UK from Nigeria I only have to fill out those customs forms they give us on the airplane -- nothing in advance.

It'll take a while for the petition to make it to London. London is an extremely busy Consulate, so it's best to touch base with them again in a week or so.

I'm sure that if you had any health problems, especially ones that affected your clearance, the physician would have informed you. But we do like to receive the medical paperwork in its sealed envelope so that if the CDC asks, we can attest that it wasn't obviously tampered with.

My thought on the I-864 instructions is "I hope I didn't write that. That's confusing." Basically, the rule is that we like to see the most recent three 1040s (tax returns) at the time of submission of the I-864, so if someone's submitting the I-864 after April 15 (the date tax returns are due in the U.S.) and they're late filing their tax return, we'd want to see the most recent three years that they DID file. How's that?

Sigh!!
I'm going to miss you.
You truly do know how to make otherwise confusing things very clear.
You do your job well.

(this is not particularly related the question I asked)

Sometimes I come here to just read how you respond to others...its heart-warming. And I've been reading this thread from the beginning.

Its a pity this thread wasn't here when it could have been timely for my migrant situation.

It's a good idea to let NVC know that your case now has a derivative. smiley Or we can add her to your case when your case arrives here at post.

I don't know the answer to this. When cases arrive here at post, they already have both a case number and an A-number. Maybe someone else here can shed some light on the timing?

Good day VO! I have been following this thread for a while now. Thank you for your excellent service. Here is my question, my fiancé and I are getting married soon and he plans on filling a spouse visa immediately after the marriage. He lives alone, in a 2 bedroom apartment so when I join him, we can start our lives together Atleast for a start, but now he is thinking of moving back to his parents house(he lives about 10minutes away from his parent's house) till I finally join him. He said he intends moving back in order to cut down cost, like cost of his apartment, food, electricity and some other monthly cost that can be saved it he moves back to his parent's place. Now here is my question, what do you think of the decision he is considering taking? Is it a good one? in order to file for spouse visa, does he have to own his own apartment? Will that affect the petition being approved or the visa being granted? Thank you in anticipation ma. God bless

Right now F2A cases with priority dates on or before Aug. 1, 2013, are eligible to be scheduled for interviews. So it appears you have at least another year to wait.

Hello VO. I am a young man of age 42 years. I had an accident some years ago that led to the loss of my left foot, hence, I use artificial foot. I am a teacher and proprietor of a school. I have a genuine intention to study for master's degree programmes in the US. Now, does my age and physical challenge put me in the position of disadvantage or in pole position in obtaining a visa for the aforementioned study? Do I stand a chance at all? Your pundit opinion will be highly appreciated.

This is a question for my non-immigrant visa colleagues at https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening . (But your disability will absolutely not be a disadvantage, and if you can explain why you're interested in a masters degree at this stage in your life, your age won't be a disadvantage either.)

I wouldn't worry yet. Sometimes it takes NVC longer than expected to review files, especially when USCIS sends them more files than they were expecting.

The only way to find out what's happening with your case is to ask NVC, unfortunately. I know it's difficult to wait but it shouldn't be long now!

It's good that you're preparing. smiley Yes, you'll be asked questions, as we try to determine whether your father and stepmother really are your father and stepmother. If you have photos of the three of you together, or letters, or evidence that your father and stepmother live together, it would be a good idea to bring that.

Hi VO,

Need your advise and some information on my case. I applied for B1/B2 Visa in April with my wife. My wife got the visa right away but my case was put under Admin Processing. Immediately after an interview I got an email from Consulate asking for some documents including my Resume, which I provided. Then after 6 weeks of waiting, got an email from them for a Follow-Up Appointment (second interview).

I'm just curious what happens in this case? Was the information not enough during first interview, or they want to ask further questions in detail?

Need your words on this please !

Thanks,
