The cerebral cortex is, i think, the major determinant in cognitive functionality.

As in, the spongy area of the brain, right in the front, is the major thing that determines how intelligent we are.

It seems the bigger the surface area here, the more neurons are present.(neurons are brain cells.)

if one could find a way to stimulate growth of this area even in adulthood, one can find a way to cure stupidity and foolishness.(i'm serious.)

i would recommend stem cells though. If stimulated with the right hormones, they can divide and integrate(join in, co operate.) into the brain. Increasing neuron count and literally make the person smarter.

From what I know, the Human Brain Cannot Be Altered when its matured. And another thing, How Stupid or how Wise a Person will be Depends on his Nutrition and Environment at Childhood.

cheesy cheesy
That is one factor. There are others. Such as the actual size of the brain. Which manifests in convolutions in the major cortex smiley. Imagine stuffing a rope into a bottle. The more of the rope you stuff in the bottle, the more convoluted it is. And the more convoluted it is, the faster it calculates persecond and therefore, the smarter the individual. Nutrition and environment in fact contribute to the shaping of the cortex as the brain stops generating new neurons spontaneously at age fifteen. After that, neurons are only created to replace dead ones.
And yes, the human brain can be altered in adulthood. In fact it is continually altered till death. smiley

I didn't get the Rope and Bottle Explanation grin cos I don't understand what Convolation has to do with 'The Faster the smarter'
Not everything Processing Fast is Efficient you know.

Back to it, Don't you think Neurologists would have already started out the Process before now?

And Errm...why are mad People kept in confinement? Its too Work on there Psychology not through Surgery, but Nutrition and Environment.

Nobody ever gets that explanation Yet I can see the analogy quite clearly in my mind. sad
cos I don't understand what Convolation has to do with 'The Faster the smarter'
convolution is merely a physical consequence. grin as in, it's looks like that so that something can happen. Call it structural adaptation. Now, the faster the smarter' has to do with convolution in this manner,
1. The brain is like the small intestines stuffed into a small space. The skull.
2. These intestines are made of neuron tissue. The more neurons are present, the longer these intestines are.
3. The longer these 'intestines' are, the more they are twisted and convoluted upon each other. In order to fit that small space.
4. Of course The more convoluted they are, the the more neurons are present.
5. And because of this, the faster the brain is. You see, the brain doesn't rely on algorithm for speed. It relies on sheer numbers. Each neuron is a computer on its own. When a problem is encountered, it is broken down and different neurons work on pieces of it. Of course this means that the more neurons are present, the smaller the workload on each single neuron, and as such, the faster they work.
Not everything Processing Fast is Efficient you know.
trust me . . . cheesy the brain is NOT efficient. In fact, it is the most inefficient type of computer. But still, it works just fine.

Back to it, Don't you think Neurologists would have already started out the Process before now?
hmm, there are ethical issues here, I think. But I watched a news where stem cell was used to regenerate neurons in a man. I am simply thinking of the next step. Of course, the technology would take decades before it can even be practically practiced. Trust me, they are working on it.

And Errm...why are mad People kept in confinement? Its too Work on there Psychology not through Surgery, but Nutrition and Environment.

What are you doing with a marker by this time of the day??

The Brain is the most complex organ in the human body for a reason. There's no telling what would actually happen if the Neurons are "Jampacked" in there.
Having Numerous Neurons Working in Bits will Surely Provide same Results.

Uhm... Mad People and Dumb People are Same Family Members grin afterall, there are all Mental disorders
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 7:57am On Jul 08, 2015
Mad people are really not dumb. It depends on the kind of madness...
There are smart mad people.
I had a teacher when I was in J.S2 and she's a badass when it comes to solving anything in Mathematics.
She goes mentally inbalanced often times(i.e mad) and during the course, she'd be expelled by the school.

Her symptoms: is that she'd be talking in an abnormal way, murmuring and still be listing all sorts of Mathematical formulae.

Is she one of the stereotypical dumb mad person?

I don't agree that "dumbness" is a mental disorder.

By the way, what aspect do you classify as dumb because I believe all humans weren't created to exercise their intelligence quotent in the same aspect.
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 8:02am On Jul 08, 2015
To note:

This thread has become rather too theoretical. I feel we are indeed discussing trivialities. I feel we need something more . . . something different, so, I am opting for this,

I recently discovered that my skills in the realm of physics leave much to be desired. So, I have decided to challenge myself and every person here.

Here's what. I want you guys, to go out there, and find the hardest, most difficult and complex and brain wracking physics problems you can find. Which I/we will then try to solve. Of course it may take months . . .or I may never get the answers, but I do believe that it is the seemingly insurmountable challenges that cause us too change . . . to improve and become better people in life.

So, the challenge IS ON!

find tough questions, bring them here and mention me, and I will try to solve them. Be it mathematics, chemistry or of course, physics.

Thanks.

Cc RobinHez faba slimzjoe johnydon22 queed plus your family and friends. cheesy

Please note that this does not hinder theoretical discussion.

thank you for this, bro. I initially wanted to make the same reply but procrastinated.
Being dumb is actually perfectly normal. It is God given. . . I guess. And it is relative.
The relativity of intelligence is what causes all of these. Some people are just not as smart as the others.
