APRIDE:

You do not apply for exceptions, the Institutes grant them based on what you studied in school (University or Poly). And yes, you can start the program whilst still in school but you may not be excepted for any course. I am a graduate of Economics who works with one of the leading Insurance Brokers in Nigeria. I qualified in less than three years even though i was only granted one exception (DO4). So in all, i did eleven out of twelve courses. For those of you that studied Insurance in school, you would be excepted from at least six courses and that leaves you with 5 or 6. Piece of cake right? I would be very serious and dedicated with my lectures if i were you as these courses are not to be taken likely. Be very wary of Insurance Law (DO5)- Diploma stage and other numerical courses in the final stage (Advance diploma). I strongly advise you attend lectures usually organised specifically for the exams. Ironically, i never attended any class as i am a very fast reader who thinks covering three chapters on your own is always better than spending hours on one chapter in the class. People differ in this regard. Again, it should be taken seriously as becoming an an associate member will definately boost your chances in the Industry. Qualifying between two to five years may be regarded exceptional as some people spend up to 10 years and more to get chartered. Good luck.

From the exemption guidelines, if u graduated from a university accredited by ciin, u will be given exemption of all courses in the first and second stage, provided u studied insurance as first degree. So u will be writing 6 papers in stage three and once u pass ,u are chartered.
