for those without access to a pc for now...let me show u some striking statistics which could explain the reasons for this new develoopments.

1. top ten universities and the total number of applicants (including those who passed and failed)

2. General application statistics sorted by faculty

3. General application statistics sorted by state of origin

4. and the main one, cumulative performance statistics

ps: if u cant view the pics directly, i'd advice u to save them then zoom in properly.

Lalasticlala help us spread this quote smiley
Teempakguy:

Robi nhez, look at this idea.

There are roughly 70 public/government own universities in Nigeria.

The total number of candidates that scored above 200 and are hence fully capable of being admitted to the university are 455 639. If these were equally shared among all these universities, each university would have an average of 6500 students . . . very convenient!

However, in the presentation I downloaded showed that a mind boggling 607330 students applied to just ten universities!!!

That means almost everyone that scored above 200 is gunning for one out of just ten universities.

It then only makes sense to redistribute the students so that each university has 6500 students each. Personally, I think that's a very good idea, honestly.

Seeing this, I am thinking the students would be redistributed based on

1. Their scores.
2. The proximity of the universities to their States.
3. Catchment.

And all of these would be done with percentage based selection per course!

With these, there is no need to transfer anyone to private schools or Maiduguri. There are more than enough other places to transfer them to.

let the students who have not been verified consider this.
Ask your selves these.

1. What is the probability that I am among the top 20% in my chosen course.
2. How far is my school from my state?
3. Do I fall under my school's catchment?

Cc ada 96 venus 007 and others, Robin, mention your people.

Candidates forwarded by jamb
1. these are those candidates who met all criteria given in the Jamb brochure...it has nothing to do with jamb scores.

2. Concerning the eligibility status, given that Unilag only begun their PUTME application today it is only normal for an online application to experience difficulties at early stage.

3. the given links http://admissions.unilag.edu.ng/?page_id=314 and http://www.ui.edu.ng/New-Regulations-and-JAMB-Revised-requirement
give no indication of "inter-school transfer of students by Jamb" these are only mere speculations by students who havent been verified.
It is also worthy to note that no student has been transfered to another school i.e. no Unilag student is seeing FUTO on his Jamb registration application

still investigating

According to highly reliable sources, Jamb has shortlisted 9,937students (out of over 30,000 applicants) for Unilag PostUtme & 18,324 students Unilorin by using different cut off marks like 220,240,250& 255 for diferent courses & catchment area. This is a very illegal move which MUST be fought against.

Please note that the above process is the main reason for the Post Utme process.

read the Jamb Decree here and pay attention to their limitations.

source: http://www.jamb.gov.ng/decree.html
Decree

The legal instrument establishing the Board was promulgated by the Act (No. 2 of 1978) of the Federal Military Government on 13th February, 1978. By August 1988, the Federal Executive Council amended Decree No. 2 of 1978. The amendments have since been codified into Decree No. 33 of 1989, which took effect from 7th December, 1989. Decree No. 2 of 1978 (amended by Decree No. 33 of 1989) empowered the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to: (a) conduct Matriculation Examination for entry into all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (by whatever name called) in Nigeria (b) appoint Examiners, Moderators, Invigilators, members of the Subject Panels and committees and other persons with respect to matriculation examinations and any other matters incidental thereto or connected therewith. (c) place suitably qualified candidates in the tertiary institutions after having taken into account: (i) the vacancies available in each tertiary institution (ii) the guidelines approved for each tertiary institution by its proprietors or other competent authorities (iii) the preference expressed or otherwise indicated by the candidates for certain tertiary institutions and courses (iv) such other matters as the Board may be directed by the Honorable Minister to consider or the Board itself may consider appropriate in the circumstances. (d) collate and disseminate information on all matters relating to admissions into tertiary institutions or any other matter relevant to the discharge of functions of the board. (e) carry out other activities as are necessary or expedient for the full discharge of all or any of the functions conferred on it under or pursuant to this Decree

IMPORTANT NOTICE ON NEW POLICY ON ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES FOR 2015/2016 ADMISSION EXERCISE

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at its 2015 Combined Policy Meeting, held on July 14, 2015 in Abuja, announced the adoption of a policy whereby candidates of universities with surplus applicants for the Unified Matriculation Examinations (UTME) are reassigned to other universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities.

According to the Registrar/CEO of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, the policy portends two benefits:

It will be beneficial to “needy Universities” that is universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities, as this will ensure that these universities will have more candidates to admit.
Candidates will have better chances for admission in the universities they are re-assigned to, contrary to situations where they would await admission in the universities of their first choices until the admission exercise closes and they forfeit admission in that session.

This policy has been implemented with immediate effect. Consequently, the eligibility for Post-UTME screening in the University of Lagos like other universities in Nigeria has been determined by JAMB. In effect, only candidates whose names were forwarded to the University of Lagos by JAMB are eligible for the 2015/2016 post-UTME screening.

All candidates should log on admissions.unilag.edu.ng for more information.

Exactly! I don search taya but I'm yet to see any of such statement or article from JAMB. I think it's only those who did change of course and maybe their names are yet to be forwarded to the institution they changed to

Calebify1, its one thing for them to take time to upload evryone's info. Then, its anoda thing entirely for UNILAG to ask that u verify ur eligibility b4 u can continue ur applicatn. They wouldnt ask u to do that if uploading info was d problem. This isnt d 1st PUME Lag is doing nah.

thank u
