Am a guy of 23yr old wit low self esteem issues, i feel like falling when walkin in public,my friends mak fun of my walkin step and find it hard to talk wit pple, Bcuz of dis i missed my Jamb exam last 5 yrs wen pple were going foward to submit, i was sitting at da back nd was afraid to walk to da front so i left my script on my table nd followed da backdoor to escape .unluckily for me da invigilator didn't pick my script (yes,it really happened) i've been to a doctor nd he said i will outgrow it but nw am gettin older. Now my frnd said we should go to a babalawo house nd get sometin to boost my confidence, wat shud i do now?

Tho I av a feeling u made ds story up (i.e not submitting ur exam sheet...i mean who does dt?)...but if u are really ds shy...then u need help!

Firstly, love ur self. If u love urself, trust me, u would av a great boost of confidence and a high self esteem...

Secondly, u can get shades so dt u don't trip when walking...with ur shades on, u can look and pple, i mean gaze at them...without 'em really noticing...from here, u start boosting ur self worth.
Tho, u might look off wearing shades on a cool evening or under a building, bt hey, who cares?

Later, u can replace d shades with nerdy glasses...and b4 u know it, u are so cool without glasses.

Meet pple, laugh, be free, a simple 'hi' won't hurt, above all, make friends wit pple who won't in anyway make u feel less of urself.

P.S: If u try dt shii (not submitting ur exam sheet) wit my dad and he finds out, he wil slap d shyness out of ur system

The best way to overcome ur fear is to face is. U will get over it when u try to meet more people n socialise.
Also try to chew some chewing gum when walking, it boost one confidence, try it, it works like magic

Face it at once... read articles on how to build self confidence, try relating more with the female folks and stop seeing yourself as being inferior to others.

unfortunately i also have the same problem.I really liked a church so i decieded to visit it,on getting there i entered the gate,i was almost inside as i was about to step inside...boom!!...i left immediately,i didnt know what caused it.I was really interested in the church sha,,,sorry bro...bt d jamb tin was rili...stewwwpid

Well, I'm agoraphobic, I'm scared of public places. I don't like crowed areas because I feel someone's gonna talk about me. It even got to a point I became a snub, I hated myself so much. OP, I'll tell you face your fear if you have any, it worked for me. I'd advise you to change your friends if they make you feel bad about yourself, they suppose to encourage you and not mock you.

Do you get nervous in public places? Like do you start sweating, heart starts beating very fast, hands start shaking

Do you feel like when you talk you will embarrass yourself?

When you are around people do you find yourself trying to figure out what they are thinking about you? Do you conclude that they think you are stup!d, uneducated..

When you go home from somewhere do you go over the event in your mind and pick all the negative aspects of it? Like if you stumbled over your words or stumbled in front of some people, does it bother you for a long time?

So how do you go shopping if you cannot submit simple exam paper?
that means you don't have bank account because i knew how crowd troop into bank as if the world wants to end.

The only advice i can give you is
1. Get a mirror that shows your full length. Stand in front of it look at yourself and tell yourself that you look good both inside and outside.

2. Do not over dress but look presentable everytime. Make sure there are no color riots in what you are putting on.

3. A little deodorant will equally help when you intend to meet people you don't know even people you know.

4. If you are a Christian, try and join the ushers or any church group. If you are a Muslim, i guess their must be a group in the mosque that welcome people or reception or something. Just join them. By meeting and talking to people everytime in this process, the zeal to meet people will be great.
