Getting a job is different for different folks. We can't all get jobs the same way. Some will get through referrals, others through applying and yet others through pure luck. The main thing is to make sure we are prepared to exploit the opportunity once it appears.

I've once gotten a job through a post on Facebook by someone we went to school together. I got another through referral from someone I worked with during my SIWES.

Your next job can come from the most unexpected place, just prepare yourself to make use of the opportunity when it arrives. One other thing, don't stop applying and most importantly, DON'T GIVE UP.

I was Jobless for 7 years after i graduate from University. With Good grade fa . But then, i had No direction, No hope, Nothing!!

i was denied job in a new Generation bank because of my religion in the hay day of Boko haram back in 2009. The HR guy mr Basil told me point blank that that i look like Boko Haram

I browsed through Nairaland in 2011 and i saw a thread where linda ikeji bought 6million naira car or so. I sat myself down and studied the girl and its mode of blogging. I made google my daily companion and researched on blogging.

3 years later, Inshallah, I bought my own Big Car from Blogging too Thunder fire banking, NNPC, CBN,FIRS jobs, Im far more better than their Ogas there. (No bragging oOo )

Yes I own and run www.Vibenigeria.com It has over Half a million Followers on facebook and top 300 website in Nigeria according to alexa ranking

I dont even know how to code, but i designed it myself where lots of Youtube videos, PDF ebook downloads and more efforts

After inviting me for test twice and i never responded to the invitation cos I was far away from the location wer d job offer came....later on dey still invit me for different position I later went for the aptitude test /oral interview of more dan hours about a week later I was offered d jab....teaching jab of 50k thou...av bin der for 6month now n av gotin me a rubber rubber daylong bike for easy transportatn...

got my current job as a quality control Engr (for a telecoms firm) through guardian newspaper just 6months after my Nysc in 2012.

hey... I've seen this moniker somewhere outside NL.

All the responses I see here make me grateful for my line of job. My last major job was at Access bank where I resigned with a salary of about 114k. I indulged thereafter in many biznesses that didnt succeed until I started learning chinese. I never knew learning a language could pay so well. Now I am on a salary of 100k. The best part is I have options, other employers are trying to make me leave my employer on d promise of a higher pay so my employer knows my worth. I have never been asked for my cv, ability to speak d language is all I need. I dont like chinese pple per say but d ability to speak their language can put many plates of food on your table. Forget d course u read, I read Elect/Elect Engr but I have since switched to doing masters in Chinese language. If u are crying unemployment its ur fault, one year plus and u cn begin translating with a starting salary of 60k without cv.
