The Earth Is Not 6000 Years Old. by Nobody: 8:42am On Aug 31, 2015
As someone who held unto this myth for so many years, as I add more years to my 'youth' ( smiley ) , I find it more and more difficult and even outright foolish to believe that this is fact.

From recent research, it is quite evident that the earth as a planet ( note : Not the people in it ) is an ancient planet which has existed for millions of years.

Why in this 21st century of science and knowledge do Christians still believe in this fable of 6000 years ?

6000 years is the earth's footballer's age and it is arrived at counted or starting from Genesis 1:3

If counted from Genesis 1:1, the Earth's real age which is x millions of years is computed

Do you know what an atomic clock is? It is the most precise clock in the world. .
If you do,then by simple deduction of the decay rates of the oldest rocks on the planet, and the neighbouring moon we should have a near accurate date for the earth...

Alot of christians know for certain that the earth is more than 6000 years. The apostle peter clearly affirmed this.
"For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the
water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are
now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto
fire against the day of
judgment and perdition of ungodly men."
(2 Pet 3:5-7). From this we can deduce that; long ago in very distant time past, the Lord God first created the heaven and earth (Genesis 1:1). But
when the heaven and Earth are spoken of in Genesis 1:2, it is in a ruined and lifeless
state. There is a vast gap in historical time
between those two verses of the Bible; a gap on the order of
possibly a billion years, nobody knows. In Genesis 1:1 we have a glorious heaven and Earth,
but in 1:2 we see a
decimated heaven and Earth.

You have at least proved all the posters above to be wrong. How did you know that the earth is 4.7 billion years old, where you there?

Even with experiments there should be observations. Those of you who believe in evolution and that billions of years ago (when there was nobody there to observe) that the universe came into existence by a big bang. Then billions of years ago (when there was nobody there to see) that the earth came into existence. Then billions of years ago (when there was nil people there as witnesses) that life formed on earth. Then millions of years ago (still no one there to observe) animals began changing into other animals. Then 2 million years ago (still no one about) an animal like an ape began to change into a human being. Is that not your story? Was there anyone around to observe when your concepts took place?

Contrariwise, the Bible, God's word, though written by holy men of God, informs us that God was there and He has given us an eyewitness account of exactly how long the universe and the earth was created. It boils down to faith, you believe in blind faith while Christians believe in biblical faith. You believe in faulty human beings who doesn't know everything as we have seen folks getting it wrong above while we Christians, believe and trust God who knows everything and who has always been there. wink
