How good is their IT? The options they have in MTech IT (it is not quite clear on their webpage)? How to get a supervisor?
Thank you @lawyer2011

in terms of standards...they are quite good because i know friends who got jobs at big tech firms like mtn south africa, hauwei technologies even before graduation(they are south africans oh...i cant say much about foreign students because you need permit to work in South Africa if thats your plan). Application is ongoing but since the mtech is a reseach based, i will contact my lecturer friend to get first hand information and give you feedback on monday

Cput is tuition free for Mtech by research but you still have to pay for registration, thesis, international level which will amount to about 15,000rands

And so we picked up the processed visa application yesterday and the family was denied "Credibility of documents ". Pls does anyone know what could be their reason for this?

yinksob002:
The maiden name on her passport poses no problem provided you include a copy of your marriage certificate. Secondly, each applicant will pay visa fees individually. The following docs are required:
1) Duly completed visitors visa application form
2) Valid International passport
3) Two passport photo each (White background)
4) Flight reservation
5) Paid Hotel booking in SA
6) Six mths bank statement i.e proof of sufficient funds for the proposed trip
7) Yellow fever vaccination card
cool Letter of Introduction introducing yourself and other members of your family as well as the purpose and duration of the intended trip, your current occupation e.t.c
9) Copy of your marriage certificate
10) Proof of employment ( Business documents if self employed or employers letter of introduction & pay slips)

Postgraduate studies in SA is not free. I don't know where people get that impression from. Even if u are doing a research based course you still have to pay additional fees.

This may be due to falsified or unverifiable documents submitted for visa application (e.g bank statements or invalid hotel booking). What were the documents submitted?

Hello house, is true that before kids could be granted visa we should have secured school for them in SA? And also concerning my own case, I was given admission for PhD in UCT but prefer to stay off-campus. Do I need to secure accommodation before applying for visa? Thanks

Hello, The post graduate programmes are not free. When you have resumed for the programme you can now apply for scholarship or grant *IF THERE IS ANY*. Being that you are international students they are few, neverthe less if you are doing research master or PHD you can apply for limited scholarships is not gurantee but alos depend on your supervisor. The only adavntage is that the tuition fees is cheaper to european universities, canada and usa with good quality education standard.
Masters by research and PhD in UKZN is absolutely free irrespective weather u get scholarship or not .More importantly every February the school gives all masters and PhD students research funds ranging from 10krand to 100krand .They give more to PhD and science oriented courses

The MSc. Study visa application is still on, though there is an information on the notice board in the south africa high commission lagos office that application for MSc. Study visa has been suspended till november, however, you can still go and apply, they are accepting applications. But your programme is starting Jan 2016, they may ask you to come back by november to apply, processing time is about 6wks, but u can go on any tuesday btw 9am-12pm to make enquiries about when to apply and also how to go about the application for your kids. @the kids, I think you need to file separate applications for yourself and your wife first, after your visa has been granted, either of you may now file an application for your kids as accompanying relatives. Though there is also a section in your application where you will indicate if you have relatives that will need to accompany you. I'll advice you apply for the kids using your own visa when granted because you will have a longer stay than your wife since you are going for a PhD and she is going for masters. PhD will most definitely be longer. I hope this information helps.

You are welcome on board. If you want to work in SA you need work permit. You can apply for critical skills work visa. You need two certificates from SA Firstly u need to evaluate your qualifications with SAQA Secondly you need to register with your field professional body in South Africa. plus others documents in Nigeria. I got my critical skills work visa from Nigeria on 31 July 2015.
