DoctorDoom: DoctorDoom:This thread is the bomb. It is only normal that i wont reply to every smart response here. But YOU (DoctorDoom), OP( sanchez01)... and the few reasonable commenters made true points . Music is life. Cos, life is music. However, many people see it as the life of the par-tay. Yea, the par-tay is always sweet. Okay after the par-tay and sex, what's next... Its hard to tell if you dont know. |

Sanchez01:Just saw the video and I wouldn't lie, I was blown away. What you witnessed there was a well-orchestrated performance with everyone and everybody on the team putting effort to make sure it was performed flawlessly; from the camera work, sound engineers, lighting and big screen operators to the very performers themselves who must've rehearsed the same song tens of times till they got sick of it. You fail to realize what brought life to that performance was a collective effort and not individual. Nigerian artistes can gather crews that big who'd make sure everything turns out right but at the end of the day the artist would lose because when their N2.5m appearance fee gets shared within the group they'd end up with a paltry N200,000.00 or less. Our greed-ridden artistes(like every other Nigerian) would feel short-changed in such a situation and avoid it all costs. You may picture a perfect world where Nigerian artistes perform to international standards however I'm quit happy with what I'm given. I also realize to get there it would take a new generation of artistes if not two more from where we are now. If I don't like a specific live performance for any reason I'd count it as a loss and try my best to avoid said artist in future. I'm probably easy to satisfy because just the artiste's star appeal is enough for me. 2 Likes |

safarigirl: I think you're confusing your crush on Timi dakolo with something else. Do you realize you're the only one in favour of this position of yours. For you to even compare him to asa talkless of now backing it up with vapid sentimental arguments is such an insult to asa. Why are you trying to force your opinion on everyone else. I sense arrogance from you. You've already mentioned that you don't like asa's kind of music probably cos she sometimes sings in Yoruba and its hard for you to understand, so its not surprising that you're being sentimental. You also said something that outrightly exposes your clannishness...you mean asa's kind of music is un-african or un-original...can't remember the exact words you used but that's the interpretation I got from your statement. Well for you to say that shows the height of your hypocrisy. Asa that most often laces her lyrics with deep concentrated Yoruba?...tell me something? So you mean she has more european fans because of her Yorubaness? Fact is Europians and outsiders in General appreciate and recognizes originality more than we ourselves...which is Asas strong point. Timi Dakolos style is just routine plus a great voice, but Asa is unique...get that? 8 Likes 2 Shares |

IamOpemipo: Lol...exactly..."ASA is foreign". I can't believe anyone would ever think of making out all those words in a sentence. Apart from her Yoruba lyrics, most of her songs her titled in Yoruba. Am sure that safarigirl isn't Yoruba which makes her oblivious of all the trash she has been spewing all over here...its so annoying. It was cruel torture for me reading all her comments...some people ehn! |

safarigirl: Don't agree with everything you've said so far, on asa vs timi, am neither here nor there, both fill a niche, but my opinion is asa fills hers better than timi. On awards not determining an artists worth, am 70% with you and your case in point davido vs burna boy, am so in total agreement with you, as in, i mean davido ain't gat nuffiN on burna and between the two, more matured music lovers will always pick burna but having said that, davido fills a niche too and he also fills it well |

airmark: Aiye? You're kidding right? Nigeria's music industry is lago-centric and yoruba tinted and that accounts for why songs like aiye got tHe hype and airplay they garnered but as per the question you asked, "soke" was dope, "like to party doper" and.................................... I fit fight you for this one oh! burna is like a breath of fresh air in our stale jingle singing musicians music industry |

I thought I was the only one pissed off by Nigerian artists lip synching their songs. Frankly it is annoying and terrible!! For goodness sake why did I come to the concert if you are going to lip synch the entire album? The same album I can buy at any retail shop? Thankfully I have actually seen quite a good number of American artists perform live and NONE of them lip synced their songs! Live music is COMPLETELY different from music on a cd and most of our artists are either lazy, unimaginative or simply have awful vocals hence their love for lip syncing. |

If a singer claims he or she will sing on stage, just to do lip sync, a large truck of rotten tomatoes should be driven in, just for the crowd to have something to throw at the |

As far as I'm concerned tuface is the only artist in Nigeria that can deliver and give you value for your money when it comes to live performance! All those "Dj let's go" "DJ hit it" "Dj drop track 6" artist, they're everywhere! Those are the ones that music is not their calling but everyone's making money from it, so make I follow drop album artist! Ishhhh. No voice, auto tune all the way, meaningless songs, they'll do videos and pack all the whole naked girls on the street inside! No one talent at al at all, how will they do live performance without Dj? |

Re: Nigerian Artistes And The Lip-synching Syndrome by TonySpike: 7:29am On Sep 15, 2015 |
I decided to take my time to read all posted comments. I think what we're all missing out is that many of these 'popular' Nigeria musicians aren't accultured in the basics of music and instrumentation. They seem to have good voices only, without adequate knowledge of musical arrangement(s) and instrumental skills. This is why they have to lip sync everytime they perform on stage. Their music is very hollow and shallow, without reasonablemusical substance. Remove the beats and their songs are dead. For a musician to stay longer in the game, he/she must write/make good music with real chord sheets like Asa or Darey does. Many of our Nigerian 'hit' songs don't have chordsheets or tablature on big websites like ultimate guitar.com. For a guitarist like me, that is nonsense. It's better we go back to the basis, by using live instruments, even for studio recordings, and not synthesised music. Music legends like Micheal Jackson, Celine Dion and even our hip hop wizard, R. Kelly all use live instruments in the studio. With this, it will be easier for them to avoid lip syncing on stage. Now, the big question is this: how many Nigerian artistes can play at least one musical instrument? The last time I checked, I could only count few people like Asa, Darey, Cobhams, GT da guitarman, Nneka, Femi Kuti, Sean Kuti, Lagbaja. ..This is the real problem. Nobody here should mention that hip hop music requires no instruments to sound nice. |

tedid1st:live stage performance always demands the best.just like in acting too, take most nollywood actors and actresses to the stage for a live performance and believe me you will either fall asleep within 10mins or pelt them with pure water sachet. Even leading choruses in church for 30mins no be small thing. That is why the best and most talented singers have most often been those who passed through their church choirs eg Whitney Huston, shina Peter and for Fuji music you have to be able to do ajiwere during the holy month of fasting to be able to be a good Fuji musician. But most of the hip hop acts in Nigeria today sit down in their rooms listen to other ppls songs and lyrics and add bits and pieces together to bring out 4mins or 240secs rubbish which usually fetches them millions once they can get a good producer |
