I almost made that same error until I saw an Engineering professor reading it! Lol!
Its plot is crazy, from Bethlehem to Damascus, the story of an orphan,Hafiz, who fell in love with the daughter of a rich man,and swore to be the richest man in the East.
If a bibliophile has not read that book or the return of the rainmaker by the same author, then, his reading experience is not complete!

Then I'll try to see those books of his.

That book must be an eye opener to lots of thrills and frills that go on in the media world.
In Journalism, we were told that a news is not a news because it has been tampered with (editing).
In house style and what have you sometimes take away the innocence and truth in news reportage.

More so, Journalism in some part of the world has been compromise.

I've tried to get a PDF of the book, but to no avail at the moment. Our style of journalism has been long below the appreciable levels of ethics and standard, but the APC and it's folks took it further down the ignoble steep of lies, destructive reporting and sensationalism.

I'll still try getting the book.

I don't know why I am not a fan of all these motivational books.

Motivational books don't appeal to many people because naturally we don't fancy the things that make us better. Just like as people would choose sugar over having coffee/tea without it. Just like people would choose to relax than to work. The things we need most always seem difficult like love but they have a greater essence than anything material. Wealthy and successful people understand these things and that's why the poor are more in number. Honestly you can't achieve much in life without motivation.

Good morning bro. I love historical books too. We need some proper education on what transpired in the past.

GOOD MORNING MR. PREYE. Indeed, The importance of learning history cannot be over emphasized. I'm an avid reader of history, My course mates always say I should have opted for history instead of accountancy.

It's almost that way all the time. At the moment I'm seriously digging up some books on basic economics and economic models and history. The economy is far too important to be left for thieving politicians and corrupt economists who believe anyone outside their expert's advice should not have a say. We're all involved in the economy.

In essence, what I'm saying is, certain courses are too important that we must take the time to read a lot on them though they be not our specialised fields. History is one of them.

I usually spent the first few days of resuming any semester back then in studying history and atlases. If I were to choose careers for my kids, none of them will go anywhere near Engineering. LOL!

grin grin grin @ emboldened.

Don't you want your kids to be like Rancho from '3 idiots'?... Hehehehehe...

History is something that involves everyone, We all have a history. I love geography too, Just like you, I do study maps, but not keenly.

As for Economics, I've studied that since my high school days, but I don't have much interest therein.

Seen the movie too? And you didn't comment on that thread? Share your lessons there sir. LOL!

Yes. History is very vital but our society, which is job driven, had erroneously believed history wasn't needed or useful....Now all that's changed. If I had the opportunity, I'll study either history or politics or economics......daydreaming me?

Bro, you've got to get some good books on economics.....you just have to understand some basic words and sentences.

Was a bit surprised when you brought this movie into our chat, seeing I created a thread on it a few days ago in the TV/Movies section. Yes. It's an awesome movie.

Yes. Take economics more seriously. A few great books will do some magic in equipping us with the basics.

It's the kind of book you 'bend down' and select from those second hand book vendors at Rumokoro roundabout , ( those who stay in portharcourt know what I mean). It's not so easy to get.

Just finished one of Robert Rudlum's series (book ) titled THE MOSCOW VECTOR written by Patrick Larkin

It's a book that worth reading. I learnt a lot from it. It'd helped me in broadening my vocabularies.

You can check it out either in a soft or hard copy. I promise you'l enjoy it.
