so, because they speak Yoruba in lokoja and KAbbA now, the Yorubas must lay claim to them, abi?

Only an ignoramus will say Igbo land is landlocked. Opobo which is by the Athlantic Ocean was founded by an Igbo man called Mbanaso Ozurumba, better known as King Jaja of Opobo. Even if Igbo land were just the 5 SE States, it still has access to the sea. There is a big difference between being landlocked and having no access to the sea to bring in goods. World class sea ports can be built in Oguta Imo state and Obuaku in Abia state. Both Abia and Imo have tributuaries that run directly into the Athlantic Ocean and can accommodate huge ships. Even Onitsha has an inland port. So when people say Igbo land is landlocked, I laugh
Zendy you forgot Ikwo in a Ebonyi state and Cross river state has a natural river dividing them which has direct access to the sea. A port can be built on the Ebonyi side.

I opened a thread sometime last year explaining that Nigerians don't understand what it means to be landlocked. The word "landlocked" in Nigeria is used solely for political purpose but it doesn't change the reality on the ground. The sad part is that so many Nigerians including Igbos have bought this lie. If you want to know what true land lock means, look at Switzerland, Lesotho, Ethiopia etc. Even with the false map drawn after the civil war, Igbos are not landlocked.

the problem of u ibos is that, you all type with emotion....are you talking about the rivers state that has ijaws, ikwerre and ogonis as indignes....lt gen minimah ret,,is he an ijaw or ibo man?

Have u ever been to Rivers state I'd prefer u visit the place first before u comment. If u stay in any part of rivers state for 30 days, u will likely not see any non igbo. Ikwerre are igbos, 100%.

ijaw n Ogoni people are relatives of the igbos (cousins). Rivers is 70% igbo populace n finally u have not asked Ur self who voted 3 igbo men into rivers state governorship positions since 1999.

OK, lets start by defining the word " ACCESS"

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Access means the following

: a way of getting near, at, or to something or someone

: a way of being able to use or get something

Based on these definition south-east and Igbo Land in General has Access to the sea through three major rivers.

Niger River: Flows between Asaba and Onitsha

Imo river: Flows from Oguta lake in Imo state and discharge at Obaku in Abia state

Cross River: This is the river where cross river state got its name from. It flows between Ikwo in Ebonyi state and Cross river state.

For now I will leave Igweocha (Port-Harcourt) and Opobo out of the equation for political reasons.

Assuming the 5 SE States forms a country A and all the SS states forms country B.

How will country A get access to the Sea without going through Country B.

To the educated one.

A landlocked state or country is a sovereign state entirely enclosed by land, or whose only coastlines lie on closed seas.

Tell us which SE States does not fit into the bold.

before the advent of Nigeria,Igbos and Ijaws fished together,inter-married share similar culture etc. And they have been living together till today(as in the case of opobo and bonny)
Do u know that an Igbo man founded opobo? What makes you a native of place? The place ur forefathers dwelled

What country, Nigeria has direct access to the Atlantic ocean from the SW to SS.

That is why we have seaports.

No more reply for you.

But the theme of the discussion is Igboland (Igbo cultural area) and not the current Hausa Fulani created South East states.

Could you people, for once, discuss like a people who went to school, at least?

The simple answer to your question is "NONE" BUT you need to understand first of all, that South-East only make up 3/5 of Igbo land. The rest were merged into the south-south during state creation after the Civil War.
There are indigenous Igbos on Delta, Rivers, Akwa ibom, Cross river, Benue, and Edo.

The point I am trying to make is that Even If south east Igbos are the only ones to break away from Nigeria, they will still have access to the sea even if the river goes through a Non-South-east territory. The reason is because If a body of water is shared between two nations, that river is an International water. Blocking that river is an Act of war according to the United Nations.

direct or indirect still serves the same purpose.
Opobo,ph,akwa ibom, calabar and bayelsa have direct access while imo,Asaba, ebonyi, abia and anambra have indirect. We are ok with that.
Any other thing?
