It's better you book way before your travel date bro, it's cheaper, but you can book that day too but it's going to be freaking expensive and you may only get business class. And try to print your boarding pass before going to the airport, it saves you some stress. Its usually open for printing 24hrs before the boarding time. Cheers.

If it is not a peak period you can get cheap tickets on day of travel, no wahala, no stress urself, tickets are no big deal to get

Hello house,

Please, I'm making this enquiry on behalf of an elderly relative who has a multiple entry (visit) visa into SA. The event she's going for is for a week but she plans to stay back for an additional week to buy stuff before returning. My question is if she books a return ticket covering 2 weeks instead of one, will this be an issue with immigration?

Btw, Ogathetop2 thanks for your post. It really helped when I processed her application.

I have about 3 month validity on my passport from the end date of intended travel?

Do i need to renew?

The requirement says 1 month abut someone mentions 6 months on here.

Thanks.

You can go ahead and 'renew'. 6 months is the minimum time for a passport re-issue (Nigeria).

Thanks but can I apply for a visa with the passport now. The validity is more than the 30day requirement I saw on the website. It expires in June and I am travelling in March

Yes she can buy return ticket which last 2 weeks, as long as her visa is still valid within that period

Sure, you can. But if there's no rush I'd suggest you do the renewal/re-issue.

Dear nairalanders....

I need an urgent advice.

I was given 2yrs study permit last month to undertake my Masters in Law (by research) at UKZN. However, painfully enough some issues came up that require my presence in Nigeria for the next 6months if not more. So by implication I can't travel for now.

I need your kind advice on what I have to do not to waste the admission and study visa. (I contemplate deferring the admission for some months, but I'm more concerned with the study permit, the medical insurance I did and other logistics attached)

Pls advice....Tanks

The following steps are vital to retain Your admission .
1.complete d acceptance form and return to postgraduate officer .
2 State reasons why want to defer and when you want to resume
3.Inform medical aid so that they adjust your payment .
Above all as research student you don't need to reside in Sa to complete your studies since there is no lecture only coursework students take lectures and write exams .Take a week off come in ,register and see your supervisor and go back .

You can only adjust your medical aid if you were refused a visa, otherwise nothing you can do on ur medical aid. You can come to SA anytime as long as your visa is valid

By convention, you need to notify institution and in turn Home Affairs. You must register within the first six months at least. I suggest you register within the stipulated period otherwise your visa could be revoked.

Insurance does not matter so much, as you can always renew same with quarterly, Bi annual or annual plan and the cost isn't much.

All the best

Jan to june is 6 months, feb to july is 6months so feb to aug can't be six months.
That said, all u do is to get a letter from ur school that they are aware you are resuming late. No one will stop u

Absolutely wrong on the medical aid .I wrote based on my experiences once you are not in SA you can write to momentum informing them you defer your admission to certain period .They will adjust your account aid not Refund .

There is no point informing the home affairs other wise you create fresh problem for yourself .Once the school is aware that is perfectly okay .I know someone who got admission to that same school(Ukzn) and resumed after one year .Above all ensure you complete and sign the acceptance form.

Hello people,

Is a return ticket necessary or can one just get a one-way ticket to SA for Study?
Is the form of ticket (return or one-way) of any importance to the domestic and foreign immigration officers?

Hello,
I will appreciate help on how the medical insurance works. I will be going for about 2years and I need to attach a medical insurance.

Kindly recommend the not so expensive ones I can use.

Thanks.

Actually, I do have a lot which aren't clear enough on this application issue.
