You are such a dick head
themosthigh:
[size=13pt] This is an example of missplaced priority...why build a lagos to calabar rail when even 20% of that money can be used to build a world class port in calabar and port harcourt..who want to travel from lag to calabar on a train....or of what do you hope to bring into calabar from lagos that cannot be brought in through the sea.
The yoruba oligarchy have decided to ensure that the south south never get a port so that people will not leave lagos and the innefectual buffon after 6yrs in power could not even build one port in his home region.
The only way for igbos to leave lagos is to build a port in the south south, complete the onitsha inland port and all industries in lagos will move with it and lagos shall cease to be no mans land and go back to the binis or yorubas and it will join the degeneracy of the rest of the waste..

Lets us assume for academic purpose that this was the rail project was removed. Why was it not used to replace this your suggestion instead of the constituency projects of buying motor cycles that your representatives decided to divert the funds to??

It may not have been in the budget but I believe it was included during the budget defence.
How can he defend a project that has no funds appropriated for its execution. Was he making a case for its inclusion? Or defending a ghost project. Or it was probably inserted after the original document got missing from the National Assembly.

Your ascertain that Lagos will become what ?
Lagos has always been a commercial hub for south Sahara! It got a stage that in 1887 Lagos was connected to London and environs by telephone. Where were the Igbos and what we're their contributions to Sub Sahara region.
A new deep water sea port construction is on going in cross river as I speak!
And Akwa Ibom past administration made us to believe they are developing a deep sea port in Ibaka! There is equally Free trade zone both in Calabar and Onne, and these states has been under PDP rule in the last ten years who are they waiting for to Dredge Escravos to Warri river to access both new and old port in Warri and the Sapele port, Koko port and give wider options to Impoters and exporters alike.
We rise above this tribal and parochial mind set and learn how to put the blames in the appropriate quarter.

If a special allowance for the representatives was added during budget defence without being there in the original budget, would these reps have approved it or not? AS SOON as it concerns the people no room for them, you hear various technicalities.

What a shame.

All what we are witnessing today is just PDP laying the groundwork for 2019 blackmails and propaganda.

They'd rather have any good federal project sited in their dominated areas withdrawn so as to make the government look bad and give credence to their preferred mode of politicking- division along ethnic and religious lines.

Honestly, I feel some people simply need to be eliminated for us to move forward in this country. This is just appalling!!

Really? PDP is responsible for the missing line? You must be sleep-typing.

Well said my brother, there has been a conspiracy to ensure that ports are never built in the south south and east...but that plot shall eventually fail.

In that case you make a case for it's inclusion. The NASS did the same for their budget so I see no problem here. The whole thing is not a big issue and should have been managed better but I sense it is the media that is trying to pitch one arm of government against another. Unfortunately it hasn't been handled well so far by both arms.

I pity you, chai! See waste of education. It is this senseless bigotry and bitterness that has kept the Igbos in a state of inertia, what a pity. Do you know that Lagos is building a $1.65 billion Dollar port at Lekki without federal government support? It is going to be the deepest seaport in Sub-Saharan Africa upon completion. Do you know that the 10-Lane Badagry expressway project is a state project? Fact is, it is Nigeria that is limiting Lagos and indeed the Southwest and not the other way round. Listen Nwanna, if the Southeast are as industrious and united as they claim, how come 56 years after independence you have not been able to collectively build a port in the entire region? What is wrong with a Lagos-Calabar rail project? Who says you can't have it and have a port in Calabar at the same time? You are bigoted! Keep hating, Lagos, the Southwest and indeed the South South (which you delude yourselves to believe belong to Biafra) will continue to grow and develop.

At what financial cost to the nation? With the cost. Projected, we should be able to afford speed trains and not the run down 1900s old trains you all bring and start to shout there's train. And you lot travel and commute with other country's speed rail modern trains. What a shame.

U wish!

Since u seem ignorant, Calabar n PH do have working ports. Infact, Calabar was once Nigeria's state capital.

And since u sound simple minded, rail transport generally is cheaper, more efficient and less prone to accidents compared to road transport. And d rail is to open up d hinterlands, after-all d rail will have stops in most towns it passes thru. Also, should there be high speed passenger rail, u can even work in PH, yet stay in Owerri.

Simple as ABC

If you could only reflect on how this project will impact on the economy with an objective mind, maybe you may not have concluded the way you did.
Think about it, the number of accidents on our highway which have claimed several lives today are caused by heavy duty trucks plying the road from Lagos port to other parts of the country all in the name of goods delivery which is inevitable to survival in some of these states. Our roads have been damaged due to this same trucks plying the road with heavy carriers. If this road project can be completed, it will reduce the number of trucks on our highway and therefore save many lives as well as reduce unnecessary congestion in our ports by these trucks waiting to load. By the way, do you know how many states will benefit from the projects? Farmers will also be afforded the opportunity of transporting their produce to states beyond their locality at affordable cost which will boost their drive for production.

Let us be objective in criticizing the government and its initiatives. However, this is not to say that there may be other loopholes in the their initiatives.

But the truth is that the project is not in the appropriation bill, Presidency mistake. But if Ameachi talked about it during budget defense and it's been on the media for a while, and the extra money is there allocated to nothing. It makes sense to put it there instead of this shameful back and forth.

Hon. Abdulmunin Jubrin is a bloody liar, Ameachi indeed defended it before the Joint House Committees on Land Transport, Maritime Safety, Education and Administration, Aviation, and Ports, Harbours and Waterways. At that defence session, the Committee asked why there is a duplication of N60billion Capital project of the Nigeria Railway in two subhead. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation was called upon to clarify these issues. It was at this Juncture, that the Perm Sec. informed the joint Committee's that the N120Billion in the budget is our counterpart founding for the rail project. I find it irritating that the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation would come out and be misleading the general public.

Currently, one of this country is our national assembly. There is a serious clash of interest there because of the little difference between the number of Pdp and Apc members.
