Though things are not working well for the common man, there is general downward movement in almost all aspects of the economy (talking about food, light, etc). Despite all these, i'm still hopeful that things will get better.
What can one do than be optimistic? Even in the face of negativity, i choose to be expectant of a greater Nigeria.

Re: Nigerians Respond To Buhari's 1-Year In Office On BBC With Placards (pics) by Nobody: 1:48pm On May 26, 2016
Of ccourse majority will express displeasure, this current economy is not easy at all...
But we just have to look forward....if buhari is going to bring any change, I wasn't expecting it in 12 months...nigeria's economy has been sinking since but we've been covering up....

I remember during Jonathans tenure where we were told about how the unemployment level had decreased and all, but it was all on paper...unemployment now was just as bad

For the guy that said its not all about corruption, he needs to understand that no system would function properly if corruption is endemic.....especially in jonathans nigeria where it was the new thing....every dick and harry politician would get rich over night...

With corruption, even the most favorable economic policies wouldn't work.....get corruption out of the system first or at least keep it to an all-time low, thenyou can work on every other thing......its like someone who is very sick, the first thing is to treat whatever ailment first, before you think of how to add weight...

thats the reason jonathans government failed in many areas.....even if he had a vision for nigeria, he just couldn't achieve it..at all...mbanu!! Lai lai!! Not with that corrupt government....corruption is a virus that devours development anywhere it sees it

U ARE ONE OF THE FEW SANE MINDS HERE ON NAIRALAND
I LOVE YOUR ANALYSIS.

i ONCE ASKED FIZZYNATION OR WHATEVER HE CALLS HIMSELF A SIMPLE QUESTION, THAT HE SHOULD PROVIDE ME WITH ONE INDICES THAT HAS SHOWN IMPROVEMENT SINCE BUHARI TOOK OVER. HE FAILED TO DO THAT.

ALL HE DOES IS BLAME GEJ IN THE PAST.

For God's sake, why should i blame my dad for not sending me to Havard university and leaving one billion dollars in my account. How many have i made.
The test of a man is not by what he inherited, but what he achieved despite what he inherited.

Even if GEJ was bad (And i am not saying he wasnt, or that he was) that should have been a good thign for PMB. He will put daylight between himself and GEJ. When Barelona plays against a weak team, we see the difference. They can put 5 goals behing the keeper.

As a professinal, i thrive in taking over from an incompetent person. I cherish that. I enjoy that. It gives me the opportunity to shine and show what i can do. That has been the secret of my success in life. I dont go blaming the person i took over from, I CAPITALISE ON THEIR WEAKNESSES, AND SHINE, BY SUCCEEDING IN AREAS THEY FAILED. AND BINGO, I BECOME A STAR OVERNIGHT.

Many good business people buy ailing businesses, and turn it into gold.

ANYONE STILL BLAMING GEJ FOR THE FAILURES OF BUHARI IS A FOOL, A ZOMBIE

I AM NOT FOR GEJ. I AM NOT FOR PMB. I AM FOR NIGERIA.

eyeview:

Am not a fan of PDP nor GEJ but you people has been brainwashed so much into believing that Nigeria is coming out from an apocalypse. Where is Nigeria coming from, really? In actual fact,we are coming from
1,being the 3rd fastest growing economy in the world to not even making the 1st 15 growing economies in africa!
2,From being an investment destination to sliding into the worse recession since 1991
3,From N202 to a dollar to N360-N400 to a dollar(first in the history of the naira)
4,From an electricity tarriff of N12.30 to N21.40 per unit of consumption
5,From N87/litre of fuel to N145/litre(first in the history of fuel pricing, despite the fall in the price of crude)
6,From a maximum of 1week fuel scarcity to an unprecedented 4months uninterrupted fuel scarcity(first in history)
7,From around 5,000megawatts to 0megawatts in electricity power generation(first in history)
8,Even tomato is now 4 for N1000(first in the history of tomato since creation)

The list is endless.
And you are here referring to 'where we are coming from?'
Son,you need to go wash your brain off zombeism and go learn the act of thinking objectively for yourself.

Now,to educate you a bit on the art and science of management. When a new manager takes over the saddle of leadership, the predecessor's 'poor achievements' automatically becomes his benchmark. His work from day one is to grow all the indices left behind by the former. Eg,if GEJ was hovering around 5000 megawatts, its expected that Buhari starts to build from there to 6000 to 7000 megawatts upwards, but instead it went down to 0.
Son,you don't grow like that. I wish you and many others to remove the cloak of tribalism, nepotism and look at issues from a more objective manner and you will realize that this govt has scored less than 8% as a govt. And since govt is assessed based on a 4year cumulative result,he needs to perform exceptionally well in the next 3years to wipe off the poor ratings of the first quarter because this poor outing of year1 will still add to his cumulative scorecard. I hope you understand cos I've done my best to make it as elementary as I can

What failures do you constantly talk about? This administration has just got its first budget approved and we can't even be patient enough to allow them operate. Why can't you just allow them attempt to repair the already severely damaged vessel before we judge them. Let's see the policy reforms in action for six months at least then we can complain. Haba!

what patience do you constantly talk about... We were patient when Buhari took 6 months to appoint Ministers. We have been patient for one year to be led by a government without focus nor direction. My candid advice: kindly differentiate between the need to be patient and the more urgent need to shout and salvage our dear country. Haba!!!!

Very wise saying, the way it should be but I wonder why this admonition was not followed when GEJ was in charge. Nigerians were taught how to despise and insult a president by APC, they are yet to forget the teachings.

The problem we have in nigeria is that we are quick to forget and these leaders know that and easily take advantage of this amnesia.
Do you know that this 2016 budget is not Buhari's first budget since assuming power.
Despite the fact that Jonathan's govt passed a budget for the whole of 2015 fiscal year,he on assumption of office got the house to pass another budget of over N575 billion.
Yet,no single project was undertaken as they blew the whole money under recurrent expenditure(that was already captured in the year's budget.

All That money has vanished without any recorded success in anything tangible.

Obama inherited an American economy from Bush at its lowest ebb in 1999. He proceeded to bail out ailing private companies like General Motors and many others with public fund and the economy bounced back.

GEJ granted import waivers to private firms to stimulate home economy and prevent job losses and Buhari people in House of Reps are busy shouting that we lost billions due to import waivers granted by GEJ.

They lack the capacity to analyze the effect of that ingenuous action on our economy. They don't know its an economic tool yet they clap for Dubai and China who operate low or zero tax/ duty regime to attract foreign and stimulate local investments.

Hypocritically, they clap for PMB who waived tax for Dangote last month in exchange for road construction in a certain Northern state.

APC need sound economists and statesmen to rescue Nigeria. Its not enough to seize power by propaganda, you must use it aright.
