Alright thanks man. bearing in mind I will have luggage on me, I dont wanna be jumping from one plane to another then bus. I will figure out something that works. I just want everything to be under N300k. That N700k price, definitely not now to spend such on ticket

Bus will be very stressful .... u can always fly in to lets say emirate to dallas for 200k... that flight gets into dallas at 9am. Then book a one way flight for like 3 hours later (giving u enough time ) to St Paul. One way should be less than $150:.

So really look any flight into us and then book a local flight. Most local flights don't cover baggages so if ur emirate flight has 2 bags that might be an additional $50 to cover your bags on a local flight

Even if you land in Chicago, there would be flights from Ord to st pauls .... no need to change airport. Look at only the direct flights from that airport. It would still be less than $150 .

Hello gurus. Please my question is this: my masters program (mph) is for 2 years but my i20 says normal duration of program is 36 months. What's the ideal response in the ds 160 application that asks intended length of stay?

Your intended length of stay is what your I-20 states. I think your school gave 36 months as the maximum length which is reasonable just in case your prog gets extended in case of unforeseen circumstances

Am sorry... God be praised... Till the end of times have faith. I avoided the US in the past for fear of denials. But it is well... I was interviewed by the man in window 7. The seemingly oldest one. I noticed when people had to consult on issues they deferred to him. But that black american woman in window 6 na one man mopol o.. She drilled people as if tomorrow will not end.

Mine was window 8, same day

congrats sir, do u think a gre score 300 is enough to get funding and get admitted for an engineering PhD programme Q= 152, V= 148. Thanks.

Thank you sir! From my experience, I would say you need a higher score given the competition these days. It would be great to get a higher score. Focus on the quantitative. Also remember to have a well rounded application bearing in mind that GRE is only one of the requirements. Hope this helps!

Let me use this opportunity to address the flight issue to best of my ability.

When booking your flights it is better to book at night and at least 90 days before your date of departure, a dynamic pricing model aimed to maximize profit is mostly adopted by airlines. With little exceptions it goes like this any flight you book 6 months + before your departure will be expensive, between 6months -60 days you get a good deal, <30days you start paying a premium roughly equal to or greater than what 6 months plus pays, there is also a seasonal variation , holidays , peak travel priced in (some nonsense I learnt in Transport economics at OAU )

I repeat do not use third parties/agents/websites to book your tickets they bring zero value to the process and profit heavily without doing nothing. Use third party sites to check for flights afterwards go to the official site of the airline to book your ticket. A particular member of this house overpaid by 40k+ for a ticket I also purchased heading in the same direction.

Also in my own opinion, Naira is currently pulling a cedi/bolivar stunt on our behinds, if you see a ticket that appears cheap, oga book the fluctuations of the currency means you have zero guarantee it will be cheaper tomorrow and I have news for you nearly all Qatar airlines for July/August have just 4 seats or less left, it is all on their site, don't feel like an early bird.

Lastly be wary of prices quoted in Dollars, even if the site of your bank shows a naira equivalent, Nigerian banks through unbridled corruption and unchecked rent seeking are currently on a hot red fraudulent streak don't trust them, go into the bank pay over the counter.

That been said the cheapest airline currently as long as you are not going to Houston is Emirates (186 - 220 economy) Qatar ($915 - 1250) a member of the house just informed me Standard bank is accepting exact naira equivalent, Ethiopia is cheap too as long as you are going to JFK or Newark and finally Arik (I would rather trek). If I remember anything I will add

Thanks for educating us Gunther6. I appreciate

Question: Let say you're in US now, can you make school payment like right away from this account? This is something you have to address properly before your next appearance at the embassy? Not everyone would be convinced that the money gone just before the interview and would be back in 30 days after the interview. And all they want to see is immediate available fund for studies. You were denied for insufficient fund.

Thanks for your input dear. The money wasn't gone just before the interview. This has been happening before so you will notice it in the earlier part of the statement but the money has consistently been in the account without the fixed deposit stuff going on for the past 2 months. So it's obviously accessible anytime.

Your only problem was lack of inflow and outflow of the account. What she saw was cash lodgment which is not convincing that the income is steady. Kindly change your sponsor and take note of these things.

Thanks dear. its not so easy o. How can I just change my sponsor? I don't have any other person willing to do that. And if I change to like an uncle, won't it look bad too to them? Like I'm obviously just doing it for the interview.

Yeah I also have that in mind. But that will require ensuring I get the timing right. there has to be enough time space between landing/immigration checks and the connecting flight. thats alot of work lol
I gave my landing time to my boarding time up to 6 hrs, which later on we landed late, the emirate I took, the pilot have to divert the plane to Kuwait cuz of a sick passenger we had on board.
But if you give it 5 to 6 hrs gap, u will be good

Be ready to defend anytin u change, they have all records.. As I was told, (not sure ooo) any change on your app it pop on dia screen like alert.. There was a guy that shared testimony here that VO asked him that last 2 yrs he applied to a skul and why did he change skul now... see dis example

Your first apps, u use uncle
Your second apps, you wanna use father or mother
It will be ringing in the mind of VO that why don't use parent at first instance.

My advise, use whatever you use on your first apps, don't wait for VO to ask you why uncle? Or why this sponsor? Once he ask you who is your sponsor tell him and d reason he is sponsoring you especially if sponsored by Uncle ni o.

Or what do you need advice on sir?

Above all mercy we need.

I won't recommend changing sponsor within this short period of time. Changing might leave the VO with many other questions. Mind saying how much the closing balance was when you went to the embassy?
