TheSuperNerd: I actually missed. Obviously the Coach Siasia's selection threw me off following Soccer news. Glad Guardiola believes in the Young man. Chidebere needs to work his socks off. The competition is tough but he has the ability. The coaches believes him. We have Yaw Yeboah, Manu Garcia, Chidebere Nwakali, Aleix Garcia all fighting for places in a midfield with Silva, De Bruyne and Nasri. The Young Men should not worry too much. Guardiola is a master at rotating his squad. They will get their chances. |

EXCLUSIVE: Lillestrøm SK Reach Agreement To Sign Kano Pillars Star Ifeanyi Matthew Lillestrøm SK have reached an agreement to sign Kano Pillars midfield ace Ifeanyi Matthew, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively report. A meeting was held between the player’s intermediary and a Norway based agent who initiated the deal and an agreement was reached on transfer fee and wages for the 19 year old to move to Lillestrøm SK. Matthew is rated by many as one of the best midfielders in the Nigeria Professional Football League and was by far alongside Chisom Chikatara the bright side of a dull campaign for Nigeria at the last CHAN Championship in Rwanda. He was a part of the Nigeria U-20 team that won the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal and many believed the injury he picked up at the U-20 World Championship in New Zealand in Nigeria’s first game against Brazil that ruled him out of the rest of their games is partly the reason why Nigeria crashed out in the round of 16. Rumored to be a target for Gent of Belgium he will join the Nigerian duo of Bonke Innocent and Friday Fred at the team that is presently placed 9th on the log in the Norway’s Eliteserien League. Who remembers "MuaZam"?? MuaZam whose real name is Abdullahi Ibrahim "Shehu" Alhassan. That tall, lanky, fair-skinned and highly technically-gifted player who came to limelights under Manu Garba prior to CAF U-17 2013 where he was joint top scorer with Isaac Success during the Qualifiers. He did not make the final squad for both the CAF U-17 Afcon (due to MRI screening) and the Fifa U-17 World cup. He returned to feature during the 2015 class of Manu's U-20 from the CAF U-20 qualifiers to the CAF U-20 AYC/AFCON.... He is now with Audu "Soccer" Maikaba's High flying Wikki Tourists in the NPFL and is in line for his debut against Ifeanyi Matthew's Kano Pillars... So good to know he is Still in the mix... 2 Likes 1 Share |

Siasia plans massive clear-out of Nigeria Olympic team Coach Samson Siasia plans a massive overhaul of Nigeria U23s less than two months to the Rio Olympics going by the several new faces who attended the US visa interview ahead of a training camp in Atlanta. Nigeria internationals Kingsley Madu, Moses Simon, Daniel Akpeyi and Wilfred Ndidi are set to force their way to the Dream Team VI after they did not feature for them in the qualifiers. All these players were at the US embassy in connection with visas for the training camp, which begins on June 29 in Atlanta. Shehu Abdullahi, Stanley Amuzie, Musa Mohammed and Godwin Saviour are also slated for the training camp after they played in the qualifiers for the U23 AFCON. Add these to two designated over-aged stars, Chelsea star Mikel Obi and Watford striker Odion Ighalo, and already you have wholesale changes to the team Siasia lined up to win the U23 AFCON in Senegal in December. EXCLUSIVE: SIASIA CALLS UP OVER 12 SUPER EAGLES PLAYERS TO BEEF UP DREAM TEAM Coach Samson Siasia has taken a giant step towards overhauling the Nigeria U-23s by handing call up to more than 12 players who are members of the Nigeria senior national team ahead of their campaign at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Siasia reportedly angered by the team poor showing at the recently concluded Suwon Invitational Tournament in South Korea where Nigeria lost twice including a heavy 2-6 loss to Denmark has reacted by calling up more players to create competition in the team. The players include the likes of Kenneth Omeruo, Alex Iwobi,Kingsley Madu,Moses Simon,Wilfred Ndidi,Aminu Umar,Daniel Akpeyi,Musa Mohammed and with Stanley Amuzie who is also a player of the senior national team set to be included as many as over ten Super Eagles players are set to be in the team including two yet to be named overage players. Already the likes of Akpeyi, Abdullahi, Madu, Simon, Ndidi, Musa and Amuzie are waiting to be issued visas by the US embassy for the training camp which will hold in Atlanta beginning from May 29. Bar Akpeyi who is set to be included as an overage players the above mentioned players are all within the age bracket to play for Nigeria at the Rio Olympics and their participation could come at the expense of some players who quailified the team for the Olympics. While Nigerians wait for the coach to name the three over age players he hopes to include in his team, reports are rife that Daniel Akpeyi who keeps goal for Chippa FC of South Africa has picked one of the spots as an overage player. EXCLUSIVE: SFAXIEN SOKARI AND PORTO AWAZIEM NOT IN NIGERIA 60 MAN LIST FOR RIO OLYMPICS Kingsley Sokari of CS Sfaxien and FC Porto’s rising star Chidozie Awaziem won’t be lining up for Nigeria at the Rio Olympics as they are not part of coach Samson Siasia 60 man provisional list for the tournament. Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that the duo who were heavily tipped to be included in the team at least for camping were snubbed by the coach who went for other players in their position. Sokari started with the U-23 team when camping first began two years ago but fell out with Siasia prior to the U-23 AFCON for absconding camp to honour a league game for Enyimba. Since then he has been in the cooler while FC Porto rising star Awaziem who is rated among the top ten teen centre backs in Europe was rumoured to be close to getting invited to help shore the team’s backline that conceded six goals in a recent game against Denmark. Nigeria will depart for camping at the ending of this month with over 30 players expected to be a part of the party to Atlanta where they could possibly be joined by other players before a final list of 23 is called for the Rio Olympics. EXCLUSIVE: WATFORD TARGET ISAAC SUCCESS AND PORTO MIKEL AGU INCLUDED IN NIGERIA 60 MAN LIST FOR RIO 2016 Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that Isacc Success who is heavily linked with a move to English Premiership side Watford and FC Porto’s Mikel Agu are in Nigeria’s 60 man provisional list for Rio 2016 Olympics. Both players will join the Nigeria U-23s in the US where they will be camped in the city of Atlanta ahead of the Rio Olympic games football event where Nigeria will take on Colombia,Sweden and Japan in the group phase. Success who currently plays for Granada in Spain is expected to push for a spot in the attack of the team which is currently loaded with the likes of Imoh Ezekiel,Junior Ajayi,Sadiq Umar and Taiwo Awoniyi to mention but a few. However among all Nigerian players eligible for the Nigeria U-23s he is the only player who plays regularly for his clubside and his goals tally of 6 from 30 games in the Spanish La-Liga should give him an edge. On his part Agu have had an injury blighted career since making his first team debut for FC Porto two seasons ago and a loan spell with Club Brugge of Belgium last season didn’t quite go as planned as he ended the season with just two appearances in the league. Still highly rated by FC Porto the defensive midfielder has confirmed he will be returning to the Portuguese giants for pre season training although they are suggestions he could once again be loaned out. EXCLUSIVE: LILLE AGREE DEAL TO SIGN CHISOM CHIKATARA The poster boy of Nigeria 2016 CHAN campaign Chisom Chikatara has agreed a sensational move to Lille of France,Owngoalnigeria.com understands. The Abia Warriors forward who presently has five goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League was by far the shining light for Nigeria during their ill fated campiagn at the CHAN championship in Rwanda scoring four times from the three games they played before exiting the tournament in the group stage. Owngoalnigeria.com broke the news of his contract termination with Wydad Casablanca of Morocco months before it became public knowledge and reports sourced by our transfer expert Daniel Martins suggest Lille of France is his next destination. Chikatara was in Abuja alongside the chairman of Abia Warriors last week to hold talks in connection with the deal and a fee reportedly lower than what was agreed with Wydad Casablanca of Morocco before the deal collapsed has been agreed between the Aba based side and the French side. “Talks are at an advanced stage for him to join Lille, I can confirm to you that the fee is less than what Wydad were willing to pay but they are add ons in the transfer including a future sale agreement which could mean more money for Abia Warriors in the long run” a source involved in the deal told Owngoalnigeria.com. ” Chikatara turned down offers from Turkey,Russia and a big money deal from Al-Ahly as he couldn’t resist the lure of moving to France to team up with someone he views as an inspiration as a child in Vincent Enyeama”. why call 60 players to camp when we only have a month to the onlympic proper. Siasia just wasted the oportunity wich the just concluded suwon turnerment would have provided, abi by now we should be debating on our 1st 11 not sixty man squard. the America camp should be for blending of players and final tactical ammendment, not for screaning of players. The likes of Ekpai, Awoniyi, Ajayi, Obarno,Amuzie and the entire defence that represented us @the Suwon turnerment, even Godwin shouldn't be in plane to the final Camp in America. Only players like Daniel, Popoola and captain Azubuike are the one's i considered worthy of making it to the camp in America. i rest my case 2 Likes |

samueld0: We r used to fire brigade situations, don't worry cos it favors us most times, all we need is 3 weeks or 2 weeks training and we r good to go, I'm not bothered about the length of our camping, what bothers me is the right selection of the players,if he can select 90% of our best inform players, gelling won't take time, for instance, let's say he picks all these players below ,forget all these players he has been wasting his precious time with- IWOBI,NACHO,I. SUCCES,NDIDI,M.MUHAMMED,MADU,OMERUO,SIMON,OKECHUKWU. With the exception of SUCCESS,all these players have played together in the same team before, they have featured for SE a couple of times and it can be said that they knew themselves well enough to perform as a team, even SUCESS is not new to some of them, what do u have left to make up a team,at least XI,just few players,a goalkeeper and central defenders,,and the present goalkeeper has been doing well up until the Suwon disaster, even AWONIYI can fit in with these good players, one of the reason why he has been performing poorly is because he has not been playing with very good mix of players. With a good goal keeping department been sorted out, if he could utilize his senses well,he would pick one central defender as an over age player to pair OMERUA,then MIKEL should be one of the over age players to organize the midfield. So when all the right players are been selected, what u will get is 80% of Super eagles player, though most of them are fringe but with good experience. When u have 70-90% SE players in XI,they won't have problem gelling as a team, but the reason why every body is worried is because of Siasia's crazy selection policy. 1 Like |

Coach siasia should not mess up with the already included no change players which are in Attack-issac success, Kelechi inheanacho,Junior Ajayi,Imoh ezekiel,Musa Muhammed,Ekpai ebong Midfield-Alex iwobi, wilfred Ndidi, ifeanyi Matthew,Daniel poopola, umar,Muhammed yahaya and chiktara DMF- pls help me CBF-i dunno There are some players we all need.Let siasia go and rewatch the friendly match tournament the U23s long had with the flying eagles who won that Tournament with a 3-2win and let him select some players again sokari, tiongolo tanbara, etebo oghenekaro and some other players who won the CAF U23 tournament should not be thrown in the bins but can be used as substitutes. Siasia's last card is to throw open the camp with more professional players home based. Friday fred, some Nigeria players like troost ekong and other who have pledge allegiance to represent Nigeria @ rio should be used as super subs. That is enough and then we can rest from selection head aches.siasia cn hv two 11 teams withing 2 weeks of rigorous training.Thats all |

Reality is Naming at most 10 Brazilians under 21 years right now who are full of potentials and are doing great in Europe stats-wise and performance-wise. I await the list. I have my list of 10 Nigerian Top class U-21s ready. So you go first.... You think we won't be able to dominate world football? **smh** We have seen the first golden generation of Nigerian football from 1990-early 2000s. Now another "possible" Super Golden Generation rises and you think they CAN'T OR DON'T HAVE THE POTENTIALS to dominate not just African football but World football as one of the Top dogs....? We have always been underdogs on the world stage even with the first golden generation but as underdogs we beat World Champs, Brazil and 1993 Copa America Champs, Argentina at Atlanta 96. We were ranked no.5 in the world on the prestigious Fifa/Coca cola World football rankings for national teams in 1994-95.... no African team past and present have achieved that. We were even ranked 9th and even 11th in the world as recently as 2004-2006. That Golden generation competed and held their own with the best. Whether the new Golden Generation will be tagged underdogs is one matter.... Even after Nigeria's Success at USA 94 and then Atlanta 96., we were still tagged "underdogs" in France 98... despite our meteoric rise and stunning reputation going into that tournament. My own is whether we will or will not dominate World football again like we witnessed at Atlanta. The world can tag us Underdogs all they want.... ours is to open our eyes and actually see that the future of football belongs to us. Anyway, I still await that Top 10 list of Brazilian wonder players Under 21 years of age. Mickael2: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Here's another angle..... Speaking about the Spaniards and Die Mannschaft... These guys have structures I admire so much. They will never fail to produce top talents but even at that, Germany today still struggle with replacing Miroslav Klose. Germany don't have a top striking talent coming through for now. Also, Spain haven't found David Villa's replacement. These nations still have holes in a few positions when I look at their talents pool. But Nigeria is another case... we are not there yet but the way this new generation is going, they can turn out to be our 2nd Golden Generation..... Our Super Golden Generation Next. Even a journalist in Manchester once said last year after the U-17s World cup of 2015 that Nigeria is on the verge on unleashing another beast team if all goes well, that can terrorise world football. He said this having our 2013 and 2015 classes in mind as with other super talents coming through in every single position. Now that's the most scary part, Nigeria have top rising talents for every position. Germany have Average talents rising through for now in the no.9 position. Brazil crashed out of Copa America in the first round without Neymar. Brazil lacks enough quality talents. They only boast a few. Even the Gabigol they are hyping played against a rag-tag Nigerian U-23 team and flopped. So it's not Eureka for some of the top dogs sef.... Mickael2: 2 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: I will name them later but let me address the other things you said. We did not beat the World Champions Brazil, neither did we beat the Copa America champs, we beat their U23 side, there is a huge difference there. Romario was not in the team that we beat was he? Yet he was Brazil's best player. We were not tagged as underdogs in the 98 tourney by any means. Infact, the World was shocked that we lost out in the Round of 16, everyone expected us to beat Denmark who were not just any weak team too. So that 98 team was in no way considered the underdogs, but you do understand that they were considered outsiders for the title infact! |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Mickael2(m): 3:16pm On Jun 20, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd: ehm you cannot possibly replace Klose, it's not possible and yes, they have an issue there, they had to play Gotze who is garbage to me as a false9, but nonetheless I expect them to produce another top striker soon. II guess you haven't heard of Morata recently. I know he is still raw and not super talented like Villa but if he moves to a club will he be starting regularly then he could be better, well probably not but he will become better. And when you talk about Spain, they are the future powerhouse personified. Degea is going to be their first choice for the next 13-15 years non-stop. Alba is still young, carvajal too, then you have Bellerin. Inshort, their fullbacks are certain to be top qualities for the next decade or 2. I can't really name any of their CBs now but I expect them to produce one, it's not such a tough position. Then I don't really think that I have to say anything about their midfield. Then they also have Asensio, Mayoral, Mariano and a host of other top talents in Barca and Madrid's academies. Then Germany, apart from Kroos, Neuer and Hummels, all their players are below 27, and they have Andre TerStegen too |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheSuperNerd(m): 3:30pm On Jun 20, 2016 |
Oga.... it is on record that we beat those nations while they carried such pedigree into Atlanta. It wasn't the exact same squad composition but An U-23 Side is as close as it gets to a senior side. It's the senior side's younger squad. At Atlanta 96, Brazil had Ronaldo (World player of the year 1996), Rivaldo, Bebeto, Dida, Roberto Carlos... etc... Na wa ooo Argentina had Crespo, Claudio Lopez, Ortega, etc..... come on! It is on record we beat the reigning world champs and 93 copa winners.... take it or leave it.. Even most of that Brazil squad went on to win the copa in 1997 and 1999. That same Brazil squad (several of them) played France 98 too. .............. And Nigeria's crash in the round of 16 was a shock because we lost to a side that couldn't even beat the South Africans in the group stage. We were favorites going into that match against Denmark because of our reputation as Olympics champs and the composition of our squad still littered with the golden generation. But... and a big but... Tournament-wise, we were still underdogs... or better still, Dark horses. We were underdogs even against Spain boasting a side that had UEFA champions league winners from Real Madrid's UCL winning side (Morientes, Raul Gonzalez, Fernando Hierro). So yes, at France 98, we were largely underdogs. Dark horses, even, just to make it mild. Mickael2: |

hmm supernerd i think i'm tempted to agree with mikael. for one those nations have world class systems, structures and leagues that will always bring out the best in whichever players they churn out. you might argue that countries like brazil and argentina have above average leagues with just there infrastructure but they have systems that will always produce decent players and coaches. nigeria on the other hand though we might produce talented players doesn't have the system comparable to the above mentioned countries to bring out the best in our players. so unless something drastic happens in the way our sports administration is being run (which to be honest i don't see happening anytime soon) nigeria will continue to struggle to make headway international but on the continent we will do well since we will be facing african countries with similar problems like us TheSuperNerd: |
