Stop misleading people and say what you know. Igbos are a minority in the South-South and not majority as you claim. The Ikwerre man does not see himself as an Igbo though they have cultural and linguistic affinity. As an aside, ONELGA ( Omoku and its environs) is not an Ikwerre enclave but rather consist of the Obas, Ndonis, Egbemas, Egis etc.
but my boyfriend is an ikwere by name ugoochukwu he speak. Igbo all The time nd introduces himself as igbo before nigeria so what happens to him mr get yourself right .you can't stay in your brown roof hut and explain things in riverstate

The East has access to the Atlantic, trade by barter of Oil and Arms since the abookies have sworn to destroy the Old Eastern region due to greed.

Hallmark of chest beaters and cowards unlimited tribes. You pay for all the atocities you committed in Lagos and ogun water sides. I bet you will be reminded when the time comes. You ibos that camourflage in form of SS and all that but are commencing dangerous trends of empire expansion like the Hausa fulanis. We are watching you with keen interest and focused attension. The yoruba nation will soon match your vengeful lot and when you are routed like one deserving to be devoted to destruction don't cry foul as always as what you started is what will consume yall.

Leave the Yoruba nation out of it, you dont speak for them!!...why don't you speak for yourself internet soldier, you can start by routing Igbo traders and bizmen at Trade Fair, Ladipo and Alaba, lets see how far you will get, anuofia..Am sure you know quite well where these places are.. Internet gangstas, as always sowing seeds of discord behind smartphone..Fuuk Off..

Why are they wearing 'Igbo' caps?
Because its our traditional cap. A good number of us (ONELGA) are Igbo's, except for ndi Ogba who deny themselves.

The cap is not limited to Igbos alone, Ikwerres, Ogba, Etche, and some other tribes do wear the cap. It is more or less an example of cultural exchange.
Afo sagbuo gi nga! The mazi headgear is like a cultural cap worn by virtually every tribe in Rivers. The origin of the cap is Igbotic and anyone wearing it shouldn't forget where it came from.

Keep quiet. That is completely an Igbo cap.

If you guys are not igbos, go find your caps, attire and never speak our language or traces of it again.

When last did you see Ijaws, Annangs, Idomas, Igalas, Isokos etc bordering the Igbos wear Igbo attires or bear Igbo names and practice Igbo cultures angry
The Anangs wear that cap so also the Ogoni's, Ibani's, Kalabari's, Okrika's and Eleme's. Especially during the boat regatta and other festivities. I agree with Hopeathand on this one, its more like a cultural exchange.

Enyia, tone down on insults. If Ikwerres wear your cap, simply regard it as cultural exchange. Afterall, the fabrics for the cap is imported.

I see the Ikwerre as these confused little brother who knows his true identity(as a pure Igbo breed) but has mixed up with so many confused people that he begins to deny even his own father and culture...no matter how hard he tries...the whole world and reality will always see him as Igbo, your papa namr you Osondu which is an undiluted Igbo name through and through, and you wake up one morning and deny your Igboness, then fuc.king change your name, language, and culture so we know you perfected the act of fakeness.

Lol, I'm from there. Omoku is Iburu and not Igbo. It's a cultural exchange...in Onelga we have Ogba, Egbema and Ndoni. Inside Ogba we have Iburu and Egi.
We are just neighbours to the Igbos. I'm from Egi.

Shame on Nigeria, how we will grow if all we do is negotiate with any group of terrorist that comes up. Money that we will use for something meaningful, we waste it on some group of thief's. what about the families of the innocent people they killed? it just a shame

The way we throw unsubstantiated figures/statistics about in the public domain is worrisome. Rivers State has 23 LGAs of which about Nine (9) could be said to be truly Igboid, viz: Etche, Omuma, Ikwerre, Obio-Akpor, Emohua, Port-Harcourt, Ahoada East, ONELGA and Oyigbo. These LGAs contribute about 2, 639, 283 people to the 5, 955, 153 population of Rivers State (source: www.rsiec.rs.com). This is only about 44.32% of the state's population.

As for the regional Government politics, you are right about the bulk of Rivers State being part of Owerri Province. That was for administrative exigencies. Remember we also had Ogoja province then which today is not even the equivalent of a State. However, Rivers Province was created in 1947 from Owerri Province (created in 1906).

Your calculation is wrong. Using the last official census ( 2006 census) figures, the percentage of the Igboid population is actually 52% approximately and not 44% like you wrote: http://www.citypopulation.de/php/nigeria-admin.php?adm1id=NGA033
