I'll like to share xperience with mamas of preemie babies. I'm a mum of preemie twins.

1) My 4 weeks old baby hasn't pooped since yestday (I have intro formula) what can I do to make him poop?

2) b4 introducing formula, I change dia nappies like 6 times in a day with watery yellowish poo, but nw dat I feed dem with formula and BM it's greenish and somehw dry. Pls is ds normal?

Yes, she sucks but not much...you are right about not been an early eater, me too, I don't until 11am most time.Thanks mama

helovesme...mama, my baby doesn't like taking her milk again o, except when she is extremely hungry so I put it in her cereal...She suddenly start rejecting feeding bottle when she started creche.now she only takes her milk in cereal. Thanks mama

For your questions once babies start taking formula typically thier poopoo constituents change.. Please ensure you're using the right measurements as stated on the tin of milk. And ensure the bottles are properly sterilised as well....

To make him poop you can give him a few teaspoons of warm water it should help!

tnx Teamie. He pooped one massive-watery-greenish poop (sorry for tmi). He is sleeping peacefully now cos he ws so restless earlier.

Yes it is normal. Many babies do it. Could be an early sign of colic which can be managed by you watching your diet-avoid overly spicy foods, dairy products and excessive beans.

Then ensure they burp well after feeds. Also you can massage tummy gently with heated towel. Also bicycle method where they lie down and you move the legs like they're on a bike. Tummy time also works to manage it but it must be well supervised.

I've been told its unnecessary to give multi vitamins especially if baby is being well fed. Why do you feel the need to give anyway?

I know cod liver oil helps with skin and bones development so maybe you can stick with just that!

You place them lying down on thier tummy. But you turn the head to the sides oh. This method helps babies fart easily. Because of thier age it must be supervised and for a short while for now.

Oh! I tot as much @babythug, my pediatrician tot me d tummy time method and said my baby has too much gas in his tummy dat I dnt burp him well.

@rofemiguwa, babythug is right. D pead said so to me. My babies were placed on abidec cos they are preemies and need additional vitamins. She said she dsnt give it to healthy term babies.

I'll ask if I can intro cod liver oil to my babies too.

As other mamas have said, except for any medical reasons, She doesn't need it till she is at least 6 months.

If she is on formular - these are all fortified with vitamins, iron and all what not.

If she is breastfed, YOU need to be on multi-vitamins so she gets all she needs from you. Just make sure you either use the ones specifically for breadtfeeding mums or if you are using the normal multivitamins, ensure you add a Vitamin D supplement to it.

At 6 months when you start weaning her and her milk intake reduces you may want to start her on vitamins.

However in my opinion this is still not necessary as all infant milks, and most of their cereals are fortified anyways. So i would say wait till she turns one when she starts normal milk and food, then the multivitamins can be introduced.

mammas in the house pls my 2weeks old baby has a white tongue....I have cleaned and cleaned but it remains white.....anyone experienced this and what do I do.plus he sleeps thru the day and stays awake fussing and crying...it's so frustrating.mamas pls help

Tracysparkle, it could be milk residue but it cud also be oral Trush. If it's oral trush, no matter how u clean it won't go and it also comes in patches. My baby had it when he was abt 2 wks old too.

I am currently using pregnacare max breast feeding that has the omega 3 + 6 capsules. You can try that. There is also a normal pregnacare breastfeeding one as well although this doesnt come with the additional omega 3 & 6 capsules

Seven Seas also do a breastfeeding multivitamin. These are the ones i have personally used.

I am sure other mamas can contribute to what other vitamins are out there for nursing mothers.

Even if you decide to take a normal multivitamin, it is still better than nothing. The ones for breastfeeding just has higher doses of some of the ingredients like iron and vitamin D and some additional ones as well, some with with names that cant be pronounced... Only God really knows what they do! but they say e good for the container so we sha dey buy am dey go!

Diarrhoea, most likely won't last that long in a child and the child s still stable. like sm1 said, ensure proper hygiene around him. good hand hand washing after diaper change and during food handling. Mix milk properly etc.
