let the state governors fully take control of the resources in their state, then would you see progress...waiting on fayemi would be a wild goose chase..a restructuring towards state autonomy would hasten development...hope you can now see why I shout true federalism all the time..many think it's because GEJ lost..no..its because it's the sure way for all our lazy governors to put their acts together to generate revenue and jobs for our nation...

Hope you see quotasystem..

Let the north keep waiting for fayemi..buhari would be all about oil whilst neglecting the fact that the north is blessed with numerous solid minerals...

This exactly is the problem, I remember sometime early this year, Fayemi explained that state governments aren't barred by any law from extracting solid mineral resources in their domain. Why state governments have refused to key into this is still a mystery.
http://punchng.com/states-not-barred-from-solid-mineral-exploration-fayemi/

On another note, Fayemi has been literally begging 'big men,' state govts and other investors to invest in mineral mining. So far, the usual saviour and alternative govt (Dangote) is presently setting up a coal mine in Kogi state which would be functional in a couple of weeks. Why the govts of Kogi state, Enugu or Benue state are not setting up coal mines themselves is still a mystery to me. Very soon we would hear things like marginalisation by Hausas again.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/dangote-commence-coal-mining-quarter-4/

Why the govts of northern states like Kaduna etc are not setting up proper gold mines for instance is also a mystery; when the hunger keeps biting, they would say it is avengers.

Assuming all these photographs were taken in my community, the Ab0ki dominated Nigerian Armed Forces would have come destroying, scattering, raping, killing, beating & arresting the locals under the guise of Operation Restore Hope, Operation Pulo Shield, recently Operation Delta Safe & Operation Crocodile Smile.

The same Nigerian Armed Forces are folding their arms now, watching these Northerners explore the natural resources found in their region.

What & where, then, is the principle of Equity, Equality, Fairness & Justice?

This is hypocrisy of the highest order.

Fellow Niger Deltans, how long shall they continue raping us in our God given ancestral lands & homes?

I weep for my people. God unto your hands I commit the Niger Delta cause.

I read recently that Zamfara looses $500m annually to illegal in in of Gold.

Under Obj, Nigeria was said to be loosing $30m annually to illegal mining of tantalite.

Last year or so I also read of a town in Taraba where diamond and other precious stones are mined. https://www.nairaland.com/1946108/18-hours-tarabas-diamond-fields.

I've heard of some igbo guys that deal in precious stones they act as middlemen and they get the stones from north.

Now Kaduna just found Nickel in huge quantity.

The north are immensely blessed with solid minerals. I believe with true federalism, they'll develop better than they are now. They'll have better infrastructures and also develop their human capital more thereby reducing radicalism and terrorism.

Resource control will solve at least 50% of our national problem in the first 2 years of implementation.

it still remains a mystery because oil is still pumping from the niger delta...see when ever i shout regionalism its not about being partisan..it is to actually hammer sense and will into our useless state governors to wake up from their sleep..these state governors would rather wait for their monthly allocations from the center whilst resources in their states are made to remain unused or unexplored...

until the FG stops the feeding bottle system, states would continue to be weak and useless...these states need to know that the only way for them to survive is by being independent..only then can they explore and exploit all resources within their reach...

just imagine if one of the niger delta states had to create huge amount of revenue solely just from refining of crude oil do you think we would be here talking about our refineries going defunct and fuel subsidy...infact we would have had numerous refineries and also states exporting refined products to nearby countries...imagine bayelsa state cant pay salaries...shame!!!...bayelsa state would have to wait for the FG to give them monthly allocation from the same oil that is lifted from the state..thats the definition of madness...

with state autonomy ,structures would work since states would have to develop themselves and make money and not wait for salaries from the FG...competition would thrive..our steel companies would all have being working till this moment...shame on all our leaders and also the structure on which this nation operates...

Mining/Exploration of minerals requires serious financial commitment and the expertise that goes along with it. That is why its easier for a private entity like Dangote to dabble into it as opposed to a state govt.

A private firm can take control of the activities and make sure its profitable regardless of who is n the govt. Anything run by the govt does not have the tendency to survive and be profitable especially when govt changes administration. The new govt might not believe in spending money on exploration and be too concerned with looting.

That is why MTN and others are profitable and NITEL is not. That is why Delta and others are chugging along and Nigeria Airways is nowhere to be seen. Even when Nigeria partners with Virgin Airlines, its still a flop cos of the way we run business.

Any company interested will have to count the cost. Machinery will be in the millions and they have to bring experts. Can they guarantee their safety? With Boko Haram and others everywhere.

As soon as a big company comes in, all these locals have to be dislodged. Soon you will have people grumbling that a foreign entity is taking over their land (Don't forget its the same people crying few years ago for foreign investors).

How will the wealth be shared equitably? So that it does not go only to the big guys? What role will the govt play in the partnership? Will it be "monkey dey work...... For the govt only want to sit around and collect returns without any tangible contribution. The company will be responsible for housing its staff, security of its staff etc

If a company comes in today and sign a MOU with the current govt for 15% return and they begin, what happens if the next govt got greedy and demand 50%?

They are already in too deep to pull out. Nigeria has not legal framework that i know that can protect the investor. Corrupt judges everywhere!!!

Anyone that will invest millions will want a way to have it back on way or the other. This is business, not charity. And after all is said and done, they have to test the soil to make sure what they will extract will worth all the effort and investment!!!

This goes beyond just bringing in equipment, its the political climate.

if it were to be in the Niger Delta, the govt will call us criminals and start shooting and killing the innocent resource owners.

In the north the govt dont see anything wrong for the northerners harvesting the natural resources like gold, granite, brimstone, amongts others.

if we cant have true federalism in every part of this nation, i dont think this country will ever witness peace.
