talk of a lunatic....
I bet that u don't have anything doing in your life. have u ever ask ur self why we choose Cotonou port
Cotonou custom make sure that ur cars is cleared within 3days unlike in Nigeria where u have to wait for two weeks to clear unless u lobby.

Cotonou custom duties is twice lower than your stupid country custom duties with fast attendance....
before u type think

this is the very reason why there is high unemployment rate. the dundderheads have choked up and clogged up the system creating a highly chaotic and disorganised system. why are these guys not willing to make the ports run smoothly at affordable rate?

if the naija system is allowed to function smoothly unemployment will disappear.

Your bias is stinking. I don't support this particular decision but to blame Buhari for creating the recession is extremely dishonest and you know it or you should.
It's very easy to blame any govt you don't like for anything, but facts are still facts. The current recession in Nigeria started in the dying days of the previous administration.

My assumption that Buhari created the recessive was a bit of a stretch. Of course, he didn't meet a sound economy (Nigerian economy has been going downhill since Independence). But we can all agree that his incompetence and lack of genuine economic plans sped up the recession.

Where is the 80% of rice? I don't get this...I've been reading it but I don't see it. I just bought rice 20k a bag yesterday at Uyo... Where is this 6k per bag y'all be talking about?
Streamline the port charges...make the process more efficient by getting rid of all the useless custom charges and for God freakin sakes, let people be able to clear their cars on their own...without these blood sucking agents and custom cows! Do this first and then ban.
Most of you don't know that charges for duty on cars are not a constant here in Nigeria. Go to the ports first and try to clear a spoon then come back here and shout "good policy!"
am not against your view on how corrupt our custom officers are,and I believe Mr President is not folding his arms and be watching.... one of the measures he took is issuance of TSA, which u and I now can compare and contrast the amount custom used to remit to fed govt before and now, at least there's fear factor in custom now,not business as usual any longer.
if you ain't seeing the locally produced rice, sorry maybe cuz big men like u don't like so wouldn't care to check it out in the market but I bought and see it all over the market in Calabar, talking about the price now, that where the govt needs to come in,help to subsidize by funding farmers which u and I know CBN has been doing a lot concerning it...is better you buy naija produced rice @ 18k to grow 9ja than using that money to grow Asian economy

Naija rice is at most 14k for 50kg bag if you buy from the State of production. I recently established a processing plant in one Southeast State and the profit is worth it. We sell 6k for 25 and 12k for 50kg. I never used local rice from birth until this year and I guess there are millions of other Nigerians like me.

Again if you think you small change of money to buy someone conscience, why will you import through land border
Is that done in advance nations?

Hope we won't wake up one day and discover that our source of income is banned. The notice is very short for dealers. At least 3months notice should suffice. What happened to vehicles that just left their shores to Cotonou?

All he needed to do was ensure the adequate duties are paid and end up in the govt purse.

Anyways, this will surely shore up the country's revenue base and attract more jobs at our ports.
Nice move if you ask me.
E don be for Cotonou ports and Benin republic economy be that o.

Seriously, I have been eating the local rice for sometime now and surprisingly I'm even getting used to it already. Meanwhile there is still room for improvement.

let me tell u now, China as a country shut down there boarder for number of years I can't categorically state now from importation be it toothpick, food both by land and sea, citizens clamored, they strategize building a new China, many suffered, but today what can u say about China sir?
before now could u believe that Nigeria can provide 80% rice that can feed the nation? all heads were bent on imported Asian rice which I know big men like u can't remember when they ate local rice last then, but now farmers are having hope, there's happiness in going to farm. we must make Nigeria great again

Kindly read Chinese economic history well sir. This method you mentioned never worked while Chairman Mao was the leader.

Read up on how Deng Xioaping and his successor turned around Chinese economy. You'll find out that they did opposite of what Buhari is doing.

Oga please open your eyes and see the harm that's being done done to our economy as a result of incompetence.

Sharap there.

Better ask the mama put near you the cost of local rice.

"Cost of local rice" is the cost the product reaches the final consumer.

Labana is N19000
Ebony Super (local rice) is N19000
Ebony Gold (long grain) is N23000

Come to Ekeukwu and do the pricing yourself.

Political sycophancy is a curse.

Why can't he just make our ports competitive instead of trying to ban importation of cars through our land borders?
