Sadly but fortunately for me, I've already abandoned my Msc biochemistry in Funaab after one and a half semester...

We are to begin second semester exam tomorrow but since I stopped attending lectures abt 2 months ago, no point in going for the exams...

It's useless and pointless wasting my hard earned (approximately 2 million naira ) on a certificate that's not worth it...

The Bsc I have has been useless so far as it has never fetched me any shishi...

bro, entrepreneur is the way.. spending almost 2m for masters program and nothing.

2.2 can do Masters if your cgpa is atleast 3.00. Some schools accept 2.75. If lower than that, you'd have to do a PGD first.

I've read all here and I can say that these things are unique with most Nigerian varsities, whether federal or state owned.

Uniuyo has a fairly strong research output and I would encourage it for a PG programme. The fees are moderate (less than 100k) and the duration really depends on the student. If a student wants to graduate in 18 months, s/he actually can. The major problem in this school is the lack of edifices and infrastructure.

Unical has bureaucratic problems that end up delaying students unnecessarily. However, the research output is fairly standard.

DELSU, Abraka, has good standards and the research output is strong. However, the students have to undergo proposal, seminar, departmental, faculty and external defences. These take time and have many bureaucracies surrounding them.

AAU, Ekpoma, is no different from DELSU. However, they lack infrastructure and edifices.

Thank you o

if HE invested that 2m since last year omo he'll be smiling to the banks o.

Education in Nigeria had been degraded. Imagine after spending whooping millions of naira to earn a degree they're giving you jobs of 50k or 60k per month undecided

Wow! Between 2005 and 2010, I already earned a masters and phd in the United States, all for free! Postgraduate school in Nigeria is a waste of time and I'm glad I left as early as I could.
Free? How? Please inform me.

To be sincere, University of Portharcourt is worse than in terms of how very expensive offering a postgraduate program is there, you will pay 163,000 naira for first session, second session 110,000 naira for second session, then if u are lucky enough to graduate within this stipulated two years, of which most people spend more time than that, you now go ahead and pay a defense fee of 51,000 naira, plus many other dues such as plagiarism test fee, internal defense fee, and so on, not to mention of the recent increment in clearing yourself to collect your result to about 50k plus....its not as if they offer d best services

I graduated from a private university and was initially refused admission for msc in economics in uniport because I will be lost "in advanced micro and econometrics sophistication".
After much ado, I got the admission and emerged the best in the set with cgpa of 4.14/5 and won Tony Elumelu price of 500k
Fortunately, there was no industrial action during my period of study, and the program came to an end exactly 20months from commencement, rather than the prescribed 24months minimum study.
Was it easy for me? Hell no! I was introduced to advanced micro without note copying or dictation, purely mathetical, a fellow banker dropped out of the program because of advanced micro, Prof Okey is way too mathematical in everything, all his stuff is proof, proof, proof, it wasn't easy for me.
Specialising in development, the top professor was another issue, very simple man, very interesting class, you dare not make grammatical or writing error in his test or exam.
In all for me, I think the department of economics in Uniport is very good if you are serious, good econometric lab but only eviews package, but good. Had no choice than to register for PhD there. Only weakness I see that the areas of specialty is limited to monetary & development as the agric prof stubbornly retired without grooming anyone.
At the PhD level presently, the only challenge so far I've experienced is passing the comprehensive exam, that is where they drop one or two, we are a class of six presently, only 5passed the exam. I hear the thesis defense comes with challenges, but its surmountable, and hopefully 3yrs will be 3yrs.

Sorry I dont know have the info about studying in Romania. Like I said, I'm an Erasmus Mundus Student. My main university is ISARA-LYON ( a grand ecole in France) and that is the university I applied to. But the first two semesters of the program will be spent at one of the 5 partner universities depending on your specialization ( so I chose Romania and Germany). You can google up on Erasmus+ or Erasmus Mundus for more information.

Well, these are the few things I can tell you about studying in Romania.

I stay in Cluj. It is a youthful city with almost zero crime. and I must admit I fell in love with the city. I have never lived a more peaceful life. I even told my university I would like to stay in Romania for the next semester but they disagreed.

Romanian Universities are good. I can't answer about cheap because I dont know how much they pay.

Cost of living in Romania is relatively cheap (according to European standards) but more expensive than in Nigeria. About €200 should be enough to take care of feeding/month. Accommodation depends on if you stay in the student dormitories, share a flat or have a private apartment. I stay in the dormitory and like all Erasmus students pay €200/month. Regular students pay about €50/month but be aware that the facilities are not the same so you can expect to share a room with some others. Private apartments are from €150-300, depending on city, place and facilities.

You can ask me any question you would like to know here as my email is unreachable. I'll be glad to answer you.

sir I have looked up Erasmus program but am still kinda confused.. is it meant for first class graduates alone? wat are the prerequisite for applying.. thanks

Should be anything from 90k to 105k per session. Used to be about 45k per session but it got increased.
ABU has an excellent Theatre and Performing Arts dept. Conducive environment too.

I am not à sir. you are most probably older than me.

I am not an Erasmus Mundus scholar because I never applied for neither did I get the scholarship.
From what I see QEM is a good choice but your transcript will tell if it's the right choice or not

My course, though an Erasmus Mundus program is not covered by the scholarship (I would have suggested it to you since you're looking for Agric Econs related courses). We only get a monthly grant of about €150 for the first year. And that is after you have paid the tuition fees. But I did get about a 80% tuition fee reduction scholarship from an external body in France.

Not all Erasmus Mundus Masters program are covered by the scholarship. Here is a list of those covered by the scholarship. Masters and PhD

You select a program and follow the given link. It will give you all the information you need. Be sure to put your CV in Europass format ( http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/documents/curriculum-vitae/templates-instructions )
and source information on how the scholars are selected so you know how to package your application.

You can send me a pm if you want further information.

UNN PG studies is better but it all depends on the student,I started my M. Eng (Civil Engineering) studies by January 2016 though proper lectures started by the last week of February 2016.
By December 2016 I completed my course work(11 courses). According to my Supervisor,he said if I'm serious and fast that I will be done with my Thesis latest March 2017. If that happens that means I did my Masters under 12 - 14 months. The lectures in my department are good , though I can't say for other departments.
what do you know about Mech Eng. @UNN please wish to apply this year...
