Pfl just dey tell me say make I come pay first sey everything easy. Please how far with it?

The agent is not the problem. The issue is don't fall for their ignorance. Research what you want and determine if it fits your goals then ask them to apply for that program. Don't let them do the thinking for you because you are the one at stake. Almost every school, esp the AL1 will require an agent so no way to escape most times.

If you haven't lodge the application. Click on organise your health examination link. It's at the right side I think when you open the Health Declaration page.

Why not apply for PR as a civil engineering draftsperson?

Your HND should give you a positive assessment if you write a good CDR.

Nice. The course is 1/1.5/2yrz but I have the option of choosing the 1.5 or 2yrz duration. My plan is to go for the 1.5yrz duration, then go for a 6months program afterwards, if need be, making it 2yrz in total that I'd spend studying in Australia. Although, I don't know if that would qualify me for the 2yrz post study visa, and if it has oda disadvantages...wah do u think?

The point is that I have just less than three years work experience and am 30 years old. Thinking of how to get the 60points and considering my little experience, won't it affect my assessment ?

You don't need work experience to meet up to 60 points, you should aim at getting a 20 point score in English.

State sponsorship is 5 points except for 489.

You should read the thread on PR.

Check if your course is on the sol or csol list, with that you can tell how lucrative your course is.

Hmmmm, not quite clear about some parts of your post though. Is he asking you to come and study in Australia so that at least accommodation plus other living expenses would be OFF? If that is the case and you are keen about studying, I'll say dance to his tune. If not, since you're a Medical graduate and you probably have some experience then you can find something on the SOL/CSOL that matches your current or most recent role.

NB: I am not too sure of how it works with Medical field. Other gurus please advise accordingly.

What most people do not understand or simply fail to say is that, not all Universities get positive assessment for PR route.

If you've studied a 4year course in any university other than the top rank Nigerian university(OAU, ABU, UniZik and the likes) you are sure going to get a negative assessment. They have their own ranking list for Nigerian institutions.

PR route is just for people with 5years Nigerian university study.

I learnt this truth the hard way and very late.

Secondly, if your work experience is with nameless organizations, sorry for you as well.

I keep hearing PR route, but no one comes foward with proper education in this area. Hence, falling gbagada for floor is inevitable.

If your uni degree is a 4year course, and you are not from top notch Nigerian Uni, oga jejely go thru study. Yes it is more expensive, time consuming, but way better than living in this shithole called Nigeria(i.e if you have similar family background that has no connection in Nigeria, like me.)

Moreover, you can never throw away the education you've received in Australia. You might see it as not useful today, you might be feeling its draining your money, but trust me one day it will come in handy.

It all depends on what we want from life.

That is not true. Getting a positive assessment depends entirely on your assessing body.

Kindly note that i am a member if that thread. Nobody ever mentioned school ranking there.

Lemme educate you based on my experience. My friend from OAU and i, appliied for assessment with Vetassess.

We both studied 4year geology course, i did in my study at University of Maiduguri.. going by our transcripts i offered more course work than him with more industrial attachments.

He got positive assessment for education while mine was a negative assessment, sighting that mine was not equivalent to an australian degree.

I quickly followed up with them, with my friends case. Then i received a long mail from them telling me that they have a ranking system in place for Nigerian Universities and in order to be positively assessed from University of Maiduguri, i have to come up with a 5years degree. That is they only grant positive assessment for 4years course from just a few select institution.

So OGA i know what am talking about. This might help someone. This was late 2015. If i had gone through school route jeje, i would be rounding up now, even then. Dollar was cheap, you need to know that there is nothing as dangerous as delay.

Mind you i am not a fountain of knowledge i am only sharing experience not hear say.

I payed 800AUD for that assessment. So please let us be objective and educate people well, b4 you go waste months and money to obtain a negative assessment at the end of the day.

I will try login in into vetassess and provide you their response.

That is my 3 cowries

Find below evidence backing my submission. It can be helpful to any hopefulls to get your background checks about your school straight before you embark on the PR route.

Dear Babajide,

I refer to your enquiry regarding your negative skills assessment. I have outlined the following details to explain how the negative outcome of your case was determined.

Your nominated occupation was Geologist ANZSCO Code 234411.

This is a Group A occupation assessed by VETASSESS. This occupation requires a qualification which is assessed at the level of, at least, an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree or higher, in a highly relevant field to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, the applicant must have at least one year of post-qualification employment in a field which is highly relevant and at an appropriate skill level to your nominated occupation and completed in the five years before the date of application for a Skills Assessment. If the qualification(s) are not at the required educational level, or if the employment has been completed prior to the qualification, then the employment will be assessed below the required skill level.

Academic Qualification:

Bachelor of Science (Honours) completed in 2010 at the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria

According to the Country Education Profile for Nigeria, published by the Department of Education and Training, Higher Education Sector, Section 2, Guideline 3, a 4-year full time Bachelor degree is comparable to the educational level of AQF Associate Degree. The University of Maiduguri is classified as a Section 2 institution, and your transcript shows that your degree is four years in duration. Therefore this guideline applies and your qualification is assessed as below the required educational level. The field of study is relevant, but the qualification is below the required educational level.

Please note that a positive assessment for qualification and employment is required for an overall positive outcome.

btw, I am a doctor having interest in the Canadian express entry and will soon be evaluating my fiancés Med lab degree but I don't know which body to use. Do you by chance know if WES is allowed for an accompany applicant?

Also, as regards oz, while I am processing cana, is it possible and wise for her to process oz? just in case?

I feel you. But why i generalized is simply because they cited Department of Education guidelines as their reason for their decision.

I only reckoned that such guideline must have been issued to all assessing bodies.

Shey you get.

Also note that there is no engineering course that can be completed in 4years. That is why they are assessed positively regardless of institution. But is you are presenting a 4year course you need find out what section your uni belongs to on the Australian education dept guideline. If it is section 1 then your safe, if you fall in section 2 like me, then you are losing money and precious time. Hence, stick with study route

Thanks much but I have already gone far in the Canadian scheme.

Plus OZ has its own many challenges in the beginning stages which do not fsvour me but truth be told, the opportunities are better in oz....also see the below contrast a colleague from the Canada thread.

Yeah, they both have their pros and cons. These are what I have been able to gather from the 2 systems.

Australia
Pros
1. POF not required
2. Age does not drop points significantly
3. BSc and Msc. get the same point
4. It takes roughly about 1 month to get PPR after AOR
5. You can get ITA with zero work experience (especially for Engineers)
6. It favours those with high number of years of work experience
7. It favours Engineers as most Engineers have their job code under SOL List and CSOL list and Engineer Australia can be very fast to evaluate qualifications
8. You can decide to write PTE instead of IELTS. People say PTE is easier

Cons
1. Application fee is about 3 times that of Canada
2. You will not only evaluate your certificate, you will have to evaluate your work experience as well if you plan to claim points for work experience
3. No of years of work experience are often reduced after evaluation
4. It can take ages to get work experience evaluated
5. You only get points at all if you have 3 or more years of work experience
6. You need all 7s in IELTS to get 10 points for language and all 8s to get 20 points
7. if your occupation is not under SOL list or CSOL list, it is nearly impossible to get PR
8. It is nearly impossible for Medical doctors, lawyers, etc for to get PR as they will need to pass their professional exams first before applying
9. Work experience must be in the same NOC as your academic qualification for it to count.

Canada
Pros
1. Application fee is reasonable
2. You do not need to evaluate work experience
3. Good for Medical doctors and others in regulated professions
3. You just need to target 8.5,8,7.5 and 7.5 in LRSW
4. There is no SOL/CSOL List. You will qualify once your NOC code is under 0,A or B
5. Work experience does not have to be in the same NOC as your academic qualification for it to count.
6. You just need 3 year work experience for you to get maximum score under work experience

Cons
1. POF is required
2. Without MSc or a "professional" qualification, you will have to rely on PNP to get above 450
3. PNP is very difficult to get
4. Age has a huge impact on your score
5. Work experience does not count after 3 years
6. It takes about 6 months after AOR to get PPR.
7. You will need the combination of this 3 to get above 450: good IELTS score, 3 year work experience, MSc/2 or more qualifications/regulated professions

Please be free to add more to allow people to decide on which route to pursue.

I think CSMLS (Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science) takes care of foreign trained med lab professionals. It's well regulated so she might just need to be examined same as AIMS (Australia Institute of Medical Scientists).
