kenya is nothing...kenya should be comparing themselfs with south africa not nigeria..

nigeria is the ol west africa combined.....you stubborn kenyans should just let the matter rest and concentrate on your own selfs..

if nigeria wants,we will activate ecowas and conquer kenya in no time...

does kenya have a chance against morroco??..

the ol north africa is planing to join ecowas...

its up to kenyans to become part of ecowas and have something to say too or remain a none entity in africa...

I wonder what you all are arguing on now when the truth is very apparent, audible to the deaf and visible to the deaf.

Nigerians like to deceive themselves. Like the OP clearly stated, Kenya is far ahead of Nigeria, make we no even talk about South Africa.

You can keep arguing instead of using same energy to demand your rights from the idiots we elected as leaders. Ghana is already moving past us as a country while we engage in triviality.

Non of you idiots have ask where is 2017 budget but you have almost a month talking about Otobo and Apostle and now we have Dino saga to deal with. They know you are idiots and so they throw bones (different distracting news)at you like dogs to feed on while you forget more pressing issues demand attention.

Very soon, even Togo will over take us as a country.

Giant of Africa my foot. Big for not idiots.

You know arinze, you're actually worse than everyone else here! At the bottom of your non stop pic spam is DISHONESTY!! Are those power plants in full production? Do all those airport pics show the current state of Naij aviation infrastructure?!
No,nigga! Everyone else,Abuja was recently shut down for repairs.

Nigeria will close the capital city of Abuja's airport at the end of Wednesday for six weeks of scheduled runway repairs, an aviation ministry spokesman said, after airlines threatened to stop flying there. Passengers will be diverted to Kaduna airport, about 160 km (100 miles) north of the capital. They will then be transported on guarded buses to Abuja, along a road where kidnappings have taken place in recent years.

We revealed the true state of the airport last year. Be honest-stop posting if you can't prove your point.

The pictures are autentic, the veracity of them not working optimally is due to sabortage of pipeline vandalism, however with the ongoing peace dialogue and negotiation will go a long way to address the challenges, also works on more underground/sea/water gas supply chain are in top gear,as we speak, including the dangote gas investment and others,so hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel, smiley

Power plants which
1.Cannot generate enough power for the Nigerian populace and
2. Are base on fossil fuels.
Kenya is largely a GREEN economy.70% of our power is carbon free and renewable. A mix of Geothermal,Hydro and Wind. Even after the discovery of oil in the country, only one project(a natural gas project) will use local natural gas.(Another will use coal) The rest are largely Geothermal projects. We have no intention of ever using things like Diesel beyond the present capacity that we have.
You really cannot compare fuel stations that will one day run out as compared to ours that will be there as long as there is lava beneath the floor of the Rift Valley, read, the next billion years or so.

The World’s Largest Single Turbine Geothermal Plant, Kenya’s Olkaria IV geothermal power plant

The olkaria IV project is the fourth and largest in a series of geothermal power plants in Kenya’s Eastern Rift Valley. Kenya was the first African country to build and exploit geothermal energy sources.

so far 636 MW of electricity comes from geothermal sources

a potential of 10 000 MW of geothermal power has been developed. Most is owned by the Kenya Electricity Generating Co. (KenGen)—a company majority-owned by the Kenyan government that produces 80% of Kenya’s power—with the remainder owned by Ormat International subsidiary OrPower 4. Kenya plans to produce the bulk of its electricity from geothermal power.

The Olkaria I Units 4 & 5 has also been awarded the “Clean Energy Project of the Year” while KenGen received the “Utility of the Year” Award during the Africa Utility Week in May 2015.
potential for geothermal is huge, and Kenya is proudly now among the top 10 countries in geothermal energy production globally and leader in Africa

the numerous geothermal plants are spread out in the middle of a wildlife reserve smiley
i have been here myself, very nice place.

.

The facility also contains a geothermal spa,the only one of its kind in africa
the milky blue water in the pool is Brine,
a solution of sodium chloride (salt) ,various minerals and hot water found naturally underground which turn the turbines that generate electricity

wild animals also roam freely near the facility ,only herbivorous animals exist within the park

cool stuff ,geothermal can last forever since it comes from hot springs heated by the earths crust unlike fossil fuels and nuclear power

If the Naija movies are anything to go by, no effort by the government to provide piped water, sewage or proper drainage. Even in those big houses used as their settings undecided

I can only imagine. Though, somebody I know, who travelled to Lagos in 2007 , that everybody takes care of his own water, in many cases drilling boreholes in every plot. You can only imagine what that does to the water table.

The impact assessment on the runway had been done, and the experts have considered the extent and degree of damages on the runway path, now based on this it was ascertained that a proper overhauling and comprehensive structural rehabilitation be carried out for about a month and couple of weeks, would you rather that an aviation mishap like crash landing occurs, which could be devastating and lead to loss of lives, which would lead to the downgrading of the ratings of the airport, that is going to exacerbate the situation, however,on the flipside this also offers a new opportunity to the aviation market in kaduna,as the airport, would for the first time embrace international traffic, this is another milestone,so i see no big deal here, this is done for the advancement of nigerian aviation expansion with a simultaneous approach of fostering safety standards of the nigerian skies smiley

Hello dude,nigeria is not all rosy,and even your kenya isn't either,now to the meat of the matter,if the new media and cyberspace is awash with the negative-narratives of the ills of our nation ,that surely is an indictment on naija,however there are causative factors for thos bottlenecks,now it becomes more of a state of hopelessness if the government is not up to task,this is attested to the maladministrations of the past,but the paradigm is setting in to change the status quo,change is an element of gradualism,hence a step at a time,there are frantic efforts to rewrite our story for the betterment of our lot,so the plants might not be optimally in their functionality,nothwithstanding we musn't throw the baby in the bathing water,hence frantic efforts are in topnotch to keep them boisterous,this include,but not limited to;
1.niger delta peace initiative,negotiation,amnesty programme,dialogue
2.More expansion of gas supply chains with underground/sea technology
3.More investment via gas to power initiative, power is capital intensive this things dont come cheap
4.alternative power initiative is also being fostered, with many hydro dams coming on stream, solar plants in the pipiline as well, clean energy and green initiative are also on course
5.the dangote petrochemical, refinary, gas asset on completion will also be a game changer .
6.There are frantic efforts aimed at reinfigurating and expanding the transmission lines,as excess bulk of supply sometimes becomes waste, hence more substations are nearing completion
7.The generation companies are heavily indebted,so there is ongoing govt intervention
8.the distribution vom0anies have resolved to also expand their facilities

Talking of fossil fuel, nuclear energy, that leads to global warming, depletion of ozone layer, the g8,first worlds, most industrialized nations despite signing pacts, charters,un habitat summits, copenhagen, etc, they have not shut down those nuclear power plants fossil plants, coal pl@nts etc,and most of the bulk of their electricity genetation comes from those sources,so its different strokes for different folks, what moral justification have they to determine the source of power generation in soverign nations, turning them to stooges, subtafugeously retrogressing the gains of their advancement since it would cost more to switch over to other alternative and so called clean sources, the nations of industrialized nothern hemishere are hugely responsible for the global warming,no matter where the pendulum swings, nations determines what they want for themselves,,this is not not downplay the adversities of unhealthy energy sources, but it is shere hypocrisy to tow that line,

As if that wasn't enough, another, separate project generating energy with a concept called solar wind. Ladies and gentlemen, solar wind. Take note.

Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. (OTCQB: SWET) (the "Company"wink, the inventor of large Solar Wind Downdraft Tower structures capable of producing abundant, inexpensive electricity, today announced that on July 18th, 2015 ("Effective Date"wink, the Company entered into a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU"wink with Elperta Industries Co. Limited in Nairobi, Kenya East Africa ("Elperta"wink to pursue the finance and development of its thermal downdraft Towers Facilities ("Tower Facility"wink in Kenya.

Elperta is able to finance, construct, and place in operation such Tower Facility, subject to obtaining necessary consents and approvals and other pre-development activity. Moreover, the developer has already identified potential suitable sites as well as offtake customers in the region.

The agreement signed between the parties sets forth specific terms for SWET to receive development fees and royalties from Tower project(s) in Kenya, while allowing Elperta a 6 month exclusivity period to fully evaluate and vet a specific site identified for the first Tower Facility. Each facility is estimated to have an installed capacity rating of up to 1,250 megawatts.

Ron Pickett, CEO of Solar Wind Energy Tower, commented, "The Company has been in discussions with Elperta and two other potential developers since last fall -- focused on the Lake Turkana region of Kenya, an area the Kenyan government has targeted for energy projects. We have evaluated this site and deemed it adequate to support a Tower project. East Africa needs energy to develop its resources. International organizations and banks are committed to assisting African nations to develop infrastructure projects and energy development is essential."

He continued, "Elperta was ultimately chosen as our development partner given their strong track record, identified potential customer pipeline and ties to various financing opportunities. Upon the completion of strategic development milestones, SWET and Elperta may enter into a long-term agreement where they will have exclusive use of all of our technology, patents, trade secrets, and development know-how, together with technical support, project management and long-term operations and maintenance services to ensure the successful development and utilization of Tower Facilities in the region."

About Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. Founded in 2010, Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc., and its wholly owned commercializing subsidiary, Solar Wind Energy, Inc., is the inventor of the patented Solar Wind Downdraft Tower, which uses state of the art technologies and construction systems to produce abundant, inexpensive electricity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the Energy Generation Calculator software which can calculate and predict energy production of a Tower given a site's local weather data. The Company secured the site for its first Tower project in the U.S. in the City of San Luis, Arizona which may be ready for operation as soon as 2018. Under the most recent design specifications, the first Tower in San Luis, Arizona has a design capacity on an hourly basis of up to 1,250 megawatt hours, gross. The Company is also focused on licensing its development know-how and establishing partnerships at home and abroad to propagate Tower development projects in return for licensing fees for territories, development fees during construction, and recurring royalty fees based on the actual kilowatt hours produced by the Tower. Solar Wind Energy has assembled a team of experienced business professionals, engineering and scientific consultants with the proven ability to bring this solution to market.

The Company's core objective and focus is to become a leading enabler of clean, efficient renewable energy to world communities, at a reasonable cost, without the destructive residuals of fossil fuels, while continuing to generate innovative technological solutions to meet tomorrow's electrical power needs. Solar Wind Energy has filed and been issued patents that the Company believes will further enhance this potentially revolutionary technology. Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc., based in Annapolis, MD, is traded on the OTCQB under the symbol "SWET".

Nuclear power is Green. Not renewable but it is still green. And it will take longer to exhaust. Most Industrialised nations ARE MAKING AN EFFORT to diversify from Fossil fuels and THEY ARE SHUTTING DOWN fossil fuel stations.
How many coal power plants are in the UK today as compared to the 1960s?
How many diesel or heavy fuel poer stations are there in the US as compared to the 1970s?
They are all being shut down in favour of wind, solar and in the case of France and South Korea,Nuclear power.
Spain now has more renewable energy than non renewables.Even Russia, an oil producer is increasing its Nuclear capacity. South Africa is shifting from coal to Nuclear as well. So is India. China installs more renewable energy than any country on Earth.
Meanwhile your country, alongside several North African Countries are pumping more carbon into the air.12 hours of sunshine notwithstanding.
