The contraption has to capitulate, I support Ango on the division of the country. Something tells me the north will even do better than yorubaland if everyone goes their way.

Let's start with basic facts the poverty between north and South 2:1. IGR higher in south. Percapita income higher south, GDP higher south. Education and general standard of living better south.

The greatest ADVANTAGE of the North over other regions is that 75 per cent of land in Nigeria comes from North; agriculture contributes 45 per cent of the GDP against oil, which contributes 14 per cent.

Does landmass equal GDP. If it did lagos wouldn't be top economy in Nigeria. 14% of GDP produces most of the budget every year.

Apart from the foreign exchange which oil provides, which in fact has always been stolen by the leaders, there is nothing much to talk about.

More industry and commerce conducted south. Most business is based in lagos. Look at Nigerian stock exchange most of there business conducted south.

The only place where there is availability of work is the North because it produces a greater percentage of the FOOD WE EAT as well as THOSE USED BY SOME OF OUR INDUSTRIES.

Is that proven in Employment stats? Next most of energy is produced south.

He is an economist; he needs to go and do a little more RESEARCH IN TERMS of FACTORS for ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. North POSSESSES ALL WHAT IT TAKES to DEVELOP FASTER NOW.”

Smaller economies tend to grow faster anyway. Southern part of Nigeria simply better economicly it's nothing to debate.

The North's underdeveloped because of profs like this.
Who either know the truth but prefer to lie to their illiterate mass or are themselves ignorant.

In the words of my mentor Emir Sanusi " there's no advantage of raising an army of unemployed beggars".

Damn that statement was deep.

NASTYNASOSO:
PROF ANGO ABDULLAHI TO EMIR SUNUSI
"With due respect to the Emir of Kano, the statement he made was misleading and misrepresentation of facts about the true state of northern Nigeria. You see, what I have been saying for a long time is that the North HAS ADVANTAGE OVER OTHER PARTS of Nigeria in terms of population, proportion and resources. What I am saying is that Northern Nigeria SHOULD WAKE UP TO ITS CHALLENGES LIKE OTHER PART of the Nigeria. Of course, every part of Nigeria has its peculiar challenges and problems in terms of development likewise Nigeria as whole. I am an ADVOCATE of DIVIDING Nigeria at the different levels and I DISAGREE with the Emir’s position.”

“The North SUSTAINED and CAN STILL SUSTAIN this country..., The greatest ADVANTAGE of the North over other regions is that 75 per cent of land in Nigeria comes from North; agriculture contributes 45 per cent of the GDP against oil, which contributes 14 per cent. Apart from the foreign exchange which oil provides, which in fact has always been stolen by the leaders, there is nothing much to talk about. Presently, there is potential of oil in many parts of Northern Nigeria. Let me tell you that oil money is idle money, which Nigeria has not worked for. The only place where there is availability of work is the North because it produces a greater percentage of the FOOD WE EAT as well as THOSE USED BY SOME OF OUR INDUSTRIES. In any case, there are countries that said they are not moving forward and decided that the best thing to do was to divide. So, what is wrong in dividing the country?”

“You see, the Emir of Kano is a VERY YOUNG MAN; he SHOULD GO and READ the HISTORY of Nigeria. He is an economist; he needs to go and do a little more RESEARCH IN TERMS of FACTORS for ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. North POSSESSES ALL WHAT IT TAKES to DEVELOP FASTER NOW.”

“Northern Nigeria has land, population and CAN GENERATE CAPITAL. His views are his own, not that of northerners. I believe many northerners would disagree with him. There are many documented research that northern Nigerian SUSTAINED THE ENTIRE Nigeria state from 1914 up to 1974... If one tells me that there has been irresponsible leadership in the North, I can accept that. But that one is a universal problem in Nigeria today."

- Prof Ango Abdullahi

Lies! Source! You think northerners are like you that drag your traditional rulers in the mud and disrespect them? Grow up OP

Slow down bro!

You can play one opponent against the other in order to get your own agenda to succeed, or you can play "good cop, bad cop" and lure your opponent, unsuspectingly, into a snare designed to kep him entrapped to your agenda.

Watch out for these Northerners. This same Sanusi stood his ground against law enforcement in the case of Ese Oruru. When the killers of Mrs Agbahime were released and injustice was celebrated, under his domain, we did not hear han from Sanusi.

Dont be quick to give him kudos. This attack against North by Sanusi is orchestrated. He is playing good cop.

In Nigeria,it is only yorubas that is too afraid of Nigeria division.
The Northerners are hardworking people. The best 20 countries in the world don't have oil.
Igbos believe in their creativity to survive.
Switzerland which is landlocked country with no oil is one of the world richest country. In Africa Botswana is the best African country and they don't have oil and also a landlocked country. It is all about good management and hardworking.

To you Northerners are always innocent. Even if they wipe all Igbos living in North off the surface of earth you will excuse their atrocity, to you, they are innocent. The Igbos were wiped out because Yoruba envies their achievement.

They keep claiming to be producing food yet north is STARVING and the UN keep giving money to bail them out.

How the Bleep can you claim to produce the foods majority eats yet your region is worst hits in regards to the scarce of food. Something does not add up to this question. I know Maybe because it's bunch of useless propaganda. Last I checked, Nigeria imports majority of what the people eat.

Understand what Sanusi had said and I Agee with him. The north does not regard or value education or anything that has to do with the west and you think such people will develop as an elite nation?

This yeye prof is drunk apparently and does not know what he is saying. Upon all the agriculture, hausas and the north produce the highest number of beggers (bambi-allas) and they are constituting nuisance around. Go to ikorodu bus stop and see how they have taken over the entire road. Why didn't they benefit from their agriculture or go and farm and feed well, rather than begging around and even abusing children by encouraging them to beg?

The mentality of the northern people is shallow. Education and exposure is a thing of the mind and it's far from majority of them; no wonder Nigeria is like this, having northerners ruling the most.

The majority of what we eat are imported, maybe apart from tomatoes that comes from the north and yam from jos. Plantain, palm oil etc are from the south.

We have had more northern president in Nigeria and have been in the business of importing food (regarded as contraband today) and they didn't think the north has agricultural power abi? Keep following a clueless prof u hear!

Shut up. When Sunusi speak wat u desire to hear, u will be praising him and curse him when he alleged Jonathan is a thief.

Keep dreaming. Sunusi stand alone regarding what he said while majority of the populace stand with Prof.

This country will divide, we are getting nothing from the south. The so called oil money belongs to politicians. We are not interested in sharing a country with u.

You talk of beggars street of Lagos dis dat bla bla as if you're living in London and in comfortable poverty free environment. Pls send those beggars home, there are as a result of politician like Sunusi taking their future.

This Union should end and let's see who will suffer much.

I think it is a matter of commonsense and logic. Though I don't agree when sanusi insinuates the north needs Nigeria to survive. I don't think any region needs the other to survive except it's about strength.

Northerners were living without the input of the south before Lugar's merged the two regions together so the argument makes zero sense.

But on building mosques less, marrying wives one can cater their needs and investing in education I agree. These things are commonsensical and you don't have to be a northerner to input.

You make good point though unlike other southerners.
1. What's his own business with mosque? Let him build more school or convert emirs palace mosque to school. Let him lead by example first.

2. It is against Islam to marry wife you cannot cater for.

3. On education let him lead by example. What is the essence of the billions of Naira of emirate money? He is only interested in purchasing Royce cars of 135 million with Kano money despite the hundred cars of the emirate. That money would have gone far in the education sector.

From the responses from the thread it's obvious majority see we're deceiving ourselves in the country - and want out.

Most folks benefiting from Nigeria are the elites of all tribes - and they're less than 1% of the populace.
