Many Horn Africans do not see themselves as the same people with other East africans. If not for the political instability of Somalia, i doubt that Somalis would have ever thought of migrating and interracting with other non-horn Africans.

Infact sorry to say, i and many other SubSaharan Africans probably do not see you guys as part of us. You guys seem like you are in a world or continent of your own just like the North Africans.

The thing you've raised here is realllly important, it's a talk worth to create a topic about. You guys not seeing us as a part of you is also a challange to us. But Norh Africans and Ethiopians are very different. North Africans isolated getting themselves closer to Arabs but Ethiopians isolated just being not part of Arabs. I think we were isolated because we rule ourselves by what we've created. Our own calendar, own time counting system, historical influence ( not being colonized) and most of all, a language we only use but not others. A language is a big door for communication, which we have lost to the rest of the world.

we are now changing, we are opening up, but i don't think we will be speaking swahilli. Ethiopians can be sociable but they always try to keep thier culture the way it is including 'amharic'. But when did Egyptians ever start speaking amharic?

Its good to try to keep your culture, but in these times, you might end up completely isolated from the world if you do and in the process be very technologically behind. I mentioned Egyptians bcoz I wasn't sure about the northern part of your country how interconnected it is to neighbours there.

People not so keen with issues outside their borders and not ready to let people into their own country. The good thing though between us was the defence pact signed at independence that kept us quite sure our northern neighbour wasn't up to sth bad

Lately however, I must say you guys have changed, especially during times of Meles Zenawi who used to visit very often. And you gotta learn Swahili ... or else business will be so skewed against you with the EAC, and kenyans tend to be very assertive. The Ethiopians I know, however speak swahili quite well.

We are not much close to the other east africans, soon we will be, I hope. It's really nice having you as our neighbours and we try to look at what your good at so as to reach where you are and lift ourselves. Since better neighbouring country to look at so as to boost our country's development is Kenya.

I have also never met a disagreeable Ethiopian. You guys are friendly, and the most peaceable neighbour we have, except for the athletic races we are not exactly friends there. Its good you look up to our country we also look at Ethiopian airlines when things get stormy in our skies.

Then Haile Selassie failed to honor an agreement made when you guys merged again. Nonetheless, it was a useless war. And now Eritreans are some of the most backward people on the continent. But I know they feel no remorse whatsoever. If there are people Eritreans hate its Ethiopians. They hate Ethiopia almost as much as Arabs hate Israel. You should have seen how the Eritrean ambassador to kenya spoke of Ethiopia at one time when Ethiopia and KEnya accused Eritrea of providing arms on a plane to Al Kebabs !

been long since av retired including myself in Ethiopian football issues, next is our athletics. Rio olympics was. . . . . horrrribbbble! Our team with all that ugly cloth and ugly rank. . .all ugly. I love my country, but if i have to say it, Ethiopian team was disgusting in Rio.
