She sent me plenty plantain and red oyelcheesy cheesy
Among other things which includes white beads that are tied together in strings. Said I should wear it on DDs waist cos it helps prevent all these rashes and eela.

Since I was born I have never heard of such. I kept it one place at home. I have decided not to use till I get more information.

Has any of us here used such before or heard about it?

Shock as in flinches when she hears loud noise??
Its normal o, She will outgrow it. These babies are just adjusting to life after spending 9 months in the womb. Even as an adult, when u hear a strange noise or sound sometimes, you will be somehow shocked, talkless of a newborn/babies. To me its normal. Even when they released a sound fart, they are scared.

During my boy's omugwo, my mil even said its giri (high fever), that she will be rubbing one local oil on him and even said that, had it been she knew I was preggy, she would have sent the oil to me for drinking. I told her that she should not rub anything on my baby and that God knows I won't drink any concoction in pregnancy even after pregnancy. Another one was that she will give me herb to give him for drinking, so that he will be light and not heavy. Na yes ma I tell am, She has not seen me since then, almost 2years now.

Reason for my long epistle is that, I dont understand all these our mothers mentality concerning babies. Imagine the idea of ur friend's mum. God knows that I won't take that cos its just a stage. The worst, let her take her for checkup, period!

you nailed it ooo
my boy has also been on Tom Brown since he clocks 6 months. The preparation is very stressful so it was my mum and her neighbor that is a nurse that helped in d preparation. they added both crayfish and dried fish to his own.

The combination is very nutritious and the aroma is good as well. Though my baby is not chubby but looks very clean, fresh and healthy.

pls mama, teach us how to prepare it

iyceconcept:

Q1. Tom Brown is a food formula specially used for weaning babies. It is highly nutritious when properly prepared and the right constituents
used. This food formula originated from Ghana and its a daily meal in Ghana. The Ghanaian Government introduce this food formula to help
nursing mother deal with the problem of malnutrition for their babies. Its constituents include;
-Soy Bean
-Corn
-Millet
-Groundnut
- Crayfish(optional)

It is tested and trusted. The RDA(Required Dietary Allowance) that a baby needs to grow healthy are all present in this food formula.
This is what my baby have been feeding on since she was 4months old and the difference is very clear.

Pls how can this be made?

Pacifier, not Jay!I have bin trying n d boy simply pushes it out n squeezes his face na breast b him sure pacifier! Can u imagine,he is sucking n sleeping now,if I dare pull d bwest 4rm his mouth, him go shine eye 4 me!
Giddyperson:

He should be old enough for a pacifier now, you should consider that as an option first before quitting. Sometimes they just wanna suck for reasons other than hunger. Giddybaby is here getting fatter and farting cheesy. She too has got me breastfeeding 24/7, sleep is now a thing of the past. Life would be so much better if I could express and refrigerate but NEPA won't let me be great.

Dunno if any mama has told you, but please you are not to give vit c in addition to the drugs.

Especially that coartem.

It weakens the potency. Finish the drugs first, then follow up with Vit. c.

Kind regards Sis.

I'm fine Sis.
Some days are like that. I'm not always in the mood to type, especially after a long day. So I do more of reading.

Fear of the drugs not working on our Boy made me type by force. Lol

How is he faring?

Olamitie, you might be right o, momma.
I found that traditional drugs work as well so I don't just wanna write it off, but what I'm wondering is whether there is medicine in the rope that now seeps into the body.
Inshot, let me rest it.

I think helovesme posted a very comprehensive text on decision making as regards getting a househelp or crèche.

Brb, let me see if I can use google to fetch it

Okay, here...https://www.nairaland.com/971395/new-born-babies-u-new/768

So I found out she talked extensively on crèche, not househelp.

Okay, so this is a thread where senior people dealt with the matter, you might wanna read thru'
I picked this from there.
Salary. . . Regardless of the working condition(living in or coming in daily), the salary should be at least 20,000 ngn. Pay them as and when due. Don't deduct money from their salary when they spoil things in the house eg plate.Accidents happen !.

Age. . .minimum of 18 years

Family background. . .Take your time, go and meet the family wherever they stay. Ask people around questions about the family, investigate.

Previous work experience. . .Ask, verify, meet with previous employer and ask questions.

Pictures. . .Take full lenght pictures of your help in various angles, store them in your phone, mailbox and keep har copies.

Security . . .be security conscious. Depends on where u stay, leave FIRM instructions that the help cant and should not step out of the house with your kids without your prior instruction.

Be fair and kind. . .Treat your help as you would treat your OWN child. Don't hoard food from them(they will get even by starving your kids), dont be mean to them, correct them in love, don't use them as slaves. Give them freedom but watch them closely. Give them days off.

Go further. . .show interest in their personal life, goals. Ask them what they want to do in future, encourage them and help if you can. Depending on their age, ask about their relationship, invite and know their partner.

Occasional treats . . .Buying them a gift(no matter how cheap) on their birthdays, taking him or her to a salon for a makeover/hairdo/facials occasionally won't hurt you. Such little favours and acts of love that don't cost much goes a long wayyyyyyy.

Can't deal? Say goodbye. . .If for whatever reason you don't get along, like your help, think your help is a witch/wizard, please pay him or her off and let her/him go.
https://www.nairaland.com/2262358/what-factors-should-family-consider

On my part, what I would just add is that you follow your instinct. Someone I admire so much on this forum told me this "If it doesn't feel good to you, then it's not good for you"
It's you that knows how your God speaks to you. Please be guided, okay?
It gets better.

Jazzy, sorry dear I didn't reply all your mentions... the tiredness these days is sometin else..i do more of reading.. I just had to comment as regards the househelp

1. With domestic staff, no room for assumptions.! Show them exactly how you want things to be done eg. feeding baby, preparing meals, washing clothes etc. Their background is diff from urs as such they might have some crude ways of doing things. Example, I explain to my nanny how to prep my baby's food, washing clothes + what qty of comfort to use for rinsing clothes, how to diaper baby (yes! cos they used napkin with pin in her days so this is different). Try to communicate as much as possible.

hi Dear, hope Ilan is better now?
Test: I also did Mantoux (TB)
Questions: Where shes's from, family background, age, where did she stop her education, why, plans for the future (learn a trade (which one)
or school?)
Rules: be kind but firm, agree conditions (off days if any) and stick to it, show her exactly what you want from her, above all be patient. Also check her things when she comes (I learnt this one the hard way - story for another day)

Get passport photograph from her. If you're using an agent, that's her guarantor. If not let her get a guarantor than you will know the person's house. I have a form I used for my girl, I can share if you want it

Also pray, if your spirit doesn't gel with someone don't take the person
