The Gowon generation failed by letting their peers then, countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore leave them in the dust. Now this crop is failing us by letting Countries like Kenya leave us behind too.

We are making giant strides that will DWARF whatever Kenya is doing. Kenya has nothing as extensive and sophisticated as the current $12 billion Lagos-Calabar project.

We need to pay attention to what the govt is doing in terms of projects. There is a push towards infrastructural development. Trouble is people here spend so much time fighting ethnic battles, watching BBN, following celebrities, actresses etc, that they've no clue what the govt is doing, or what projects are going on on the ground.

Till we get electricity right. Nigeria should forget development. 80% of our development is tide to it. Modern trains are impossible without electricity.

India has it in theor constitution that every newly elected leader must add 5000 megawatts to existing power generation.

Until the cesspit called Nigeria is disintegrated, the moronic contraption should forget development.

Oga stop fooling yourself in delusion. Google rail projects in Nigeria. It's not the first time we are having such plans which only ends in paper. The rail project you are hallucinating about is to be funded by the Chinese on lease. We are to provide 30% counterparts funding for them to do it. Nigeria does not have the money to meet up with the counterparts fund. We can only wish it happens. This administration has one year to go. Election starts next year and Nigeria will pause again. Alas, it's a circle of doom. Restructure this country and let every region build their region.
Exactly the same model which Nigeria employed to build the Abuja-Kaduna modern rail, that's exactly the same model Kenya has used for its own rail. Chinese supply bulk of the funds as loan and then build and operate the rail system. Nigeria is also employing exactly the same model for the Lagos-Kano and Lagos to Calabar rails. The project has been divided into phases with a plan to start with Lagos-Ibadan and Calabar-PH. The Chinese are also bringing bulk of the funds and I believe Nigeria has just paid some of its counterpart fund for the project. Abuja to Kaduna phase has been completed and is operational and I hear clearing of the right of way is currently ongoing to commence the Lagos-Ibadan section.

Do you ignorant dolts understand there is a $25 billion high speed national rail network CURRENTLY under construction in Nigeria? It will outclass anything Kenya is currently doing, while connecting every state in Nigeria by high speed rail. This is why you and your ilk need to study and research before commenting.

Will you keep quiet!

Let me say this again, since you are having a hard time understanding.

THIS CAN NEVER HAPPEN IN NIGERIA IN A MILLION YEARS.

That they work hard doesn't mean they know anything. My car mechanic works hard, but knows precious little about infrastructural development policy.

Are you sure Nigeria is not cursed? What have we been borrowing our own money for?
Nigeria has a fair share of Chinese investments. Railway and bridge construction in Lagos, Abuja - Kaduna etc. It is easy to borrow, paying back is the problem. China has perfected a way to keep Africa in perpetual slavery.

What slavery? Abeg make we hear word. The projects involving China have clear paths to ROI and repayments. The projects are designed to pay for themselves. Rail investment for instance. Go and research the terms of the contracts before making prejudiced assertions.

You can laugh out of ignorance. I had a Ugandan colleague once who could not understand the concept of visiting one's village, as we do in Nigeria. He said in Uganda, villages were destitute, abandoned regions where, once you leave, you never return. They use footpaths to enter villages there, he said. You will be lucky to see common soap to buy in rural areas there.

We have been signing rail, mining , refinery , power and what not projects since the first tenure of Obasanjo, what tangible results do we have to show for all these ?
Apart from privately sponsored projects like those of Dangote, there's no assurance that the govt funded ones will be completed. Look at the River state monorail for example, it's turning out to be one of the whitest Elephant projects in this country's history

It is $7 for the economic class and $30 for first class travelling with the train, doing the 472km from Nairobi to Mombasa. Will be doing that trip because over 100km of the journey runs through their National park, I get to record my own "NatGeo" as Zebras, Lions, Giraffes, Buffaloes etc would be a sure sight. Will also get a good view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Dem try in finishing it within 2 and half years.

I'm from kaduna state so don't tell me about the kaduna - Abuja rail system. That was simply a political move, no more no less. The most pressing rail needs in Nigeria all involve moving in , out of or around Lagos state. Anything else is just wash.
The Kenyan rail project involves two of Kenya's most economically important regions, Nairobi and Mombasa. Pray tell me, do Abuja or Kaduna rank in the top 15 of Nigeria's most economically important cities ?

Because you are shallow-minded and immature, so you prefer to see flashy train stations than to have a 10,000km high speed rail network under construction. The first is glamorous, the second not so much, since there are no flashy pictures to ''show''.

The latter would benefit the country more than the former. That's what's important. It might take years longer to build than a couple of flashy train stations, but we can wait.

Konza what? I know about it. It is a VILLAGE PROJECT compared to Eko Atlantic. It's more similar to what smaller cities like Enugu, Port Harcourt, and Abuja, are doing in terms of 'new cities'. SPEND SOME TIME AND RESEARCH BEFORE COMMENTING. You are like many others here. Empty barrels who spew negativity in loud noise, but haven't the slightest clue what projects are being executed in Nigeria, and haven't the slightest inclination to research them.

Until Nigeria delivers that 10,000km high speed train and Nigerians travel through it, don't downplay other countries that have theirs running. For them, it will boost trade and tourism by delivery this phase 1 while construction is on going in phase 2.

The Kenya's is also built to convey 200 containers daily out of their Sea port in Mombasa.

I can similarly say that until Nigeria completes its 10,000 km rail network, for which construction has commenced, don't come online and rubbish the country, and downplay its ongoing progress.
