Hello ayo23us. We don't have any special insight on why an individual failed to attend their visa appointment. We can say that hundreds of people were able to follow instructions and complete their interviews yesterday in both Abuja and Lagos.

In general, turnarounds have one of two causes. One, the person was recently refused, and in making a fresh application, they incorrectly associated their old MRV fee receipt with the new form. Two, they engaged the services of an agent who, through incompetence or malice, made mistakes on their behalf.

ayo23us:
Hello VO,

A friend of mine was at the embassy today for a visit visa. Unfortunately, the number on confirmation page of the DS-160 was dissimilar to that on the appointment page. More worrisome, he left the embassy without an interview. What do you advise please? He has to attend a conference in the US by July 9, 2017.

Thanks!

Hello VOs. If someone scheduled and interview and due to one reason or the other, he did not make it to the interview. Can the person reschedule the appointment or buy another visa fee.
Thanks in anticipation

Yes, he was refused in April and mistakenly filled in the old numbers while scheduling the new appointment. Please what do you think he should do?

Thanks!

The person may apply again. But if nothing has changed since the recent refusal, the result will likely be the same. Perhaps time to consider a different destination.

Hello scorpio1. Family connections can weigh both positively and negatively on an applicant, but in the end, each must qualify on his/her own merits.

Hello travelclub. The applicant will have to apply for a new visa once the passport is replaced.

Good afternoon dear VO sir, a quick one here please. I seem to have forgotten the way round this (scratches head). I intend applying for a renewal of my B1/B2 Visa soon. I have all my previous US visas in my expired Nigeria passport (and I have not misplaced it too).

My travels to the US and other places this past one year plus were done on a new passport (combined with the old because of the visas in it). As a result of this new passport not carrying a US Visa (CBP stamps are on it though), expired or unexpired, FOR CLARIFICATION PURPOSE, should I then just schedule an appointment and go the one-on-one interview route or am I rather qualified for the Dropbox still as I have always done before (if yes, do I send in both passports or what?) considering your above advice which seem not to have included my situation as is? Thanks....

Dear VO,

I want to visit the US for vacation during Christmas with my family, wife and three children (ages one to eight). I currently have a valid B1/B2 visa but none of my family members have a visa on their passports.
Can I go with them for the interview.

Hello VO,

Thanks for your feedback.

I actually wanted to say that I will be enrolling by August 2017, this is the first time i will be entering the US on study visa.

I 'll like to know other supporting documents ( if any) to present at POE aside my I20 and Passport.

Regards,

abujaniv:
Hello duduafri. When you say "resuming," you must have been going to this school previously, so the border procedures should be the same as when you first entered.

Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 9:24pm On Jun 14, 2017
Hello OmoBendel24. As long as your visa is still valid or has expired in less than 12 months, then you are likely eligible for the interview waiver program (dropbox). You may send in both passport(s) for IWP or you can elect to do an interview. It's your choice.

To "resume" school is not the same as to "enrol" into school. Precision in language is important, something that will become rapidly apparent at any institution of higher learning in the United States.

Good morning Vo,

Thanks for the good job you are doing here. I have an invitation for a wedding schedule for July, he is my childhood friend and we communicate often. I have a very good job and I will sponsor my trip. I was also sent the hotels for reservations. I intend to spend two weeks. My wedding will be coming up in October . What are my chances? Thanks.

Hi Abujaniv...

I've a few questions..

So after a lengthy administrative processing(221g) on a renewal application, I got an email with an invitation to dropoff my passport.

The instructuons dont say anything about submitting a 221g submission slip together with the passport.

So do I just submit the passport ONLY at the GSS Document Collection centre?? Without any other covering letter of sorts??

Also... Being that I was called in for a followup interview after the dropbox submission, the VO after informing me of the extra administrative processing on my application, handed me back my passport AND the DS-160 confirmation form that I filled, with my passport photo attached to it.. Is this normal or it was an om?ission

1) Do I submit the DS 160 which has my passport photo together with the passport.. Or just submit the passport alone with the Invitation letter for the passport dropoff??

2)Can I have someone submit the passport for me??

3)At the moment I happen to be in a state much closer to Lagos than Abuja. Is there an option to submit in Lagos instead.. (I made the renewal application from Abuja)..

Sorry for this long winded message. Its just that my application has pending for too long and I just dont want to be the cause for any more delays...

Looking forward to ur response..

Thanks alot...

Hello. Read a few pages of this thread. This is not a rowdy gambling hall, and the visa process is not a game of chance.

Hello Dotman23. Those are the only necessary documents. It is possible the visa officer will ask how the two will support themselves and also pay school tuition when neither of them will be able to work. Evidence of that financial wherewithal --such as a bank statement, scholarship materials, etc.-- could be requested.

Hello fibonaci. Follow the instructions. If the instructions say to only to submit the passport, then only submit the passport. If you applied in Abuja, the case will be adjudicated in Abuja. You send the passport through DHL.

Hello uvagho. We don't discuss chances on this forum, only qualifications. One thing that we stress is ties to one's home country. Someone applying in Nigeria who is a permanent resident of another country necessarily has divided allegiances. That alone is not an ineligibility, but it is something that must be accounted for.

uvagho:
goodafternoon Vo,am glad I can get a professional input on my case.My husband, daughter and I applied for a visa in 2015 and was rejected .He is a resident of Spain and has been rejected 4 times now .He was married in Spain and that was how he got his permanent residence but later divorced her and we married in 2015 because we had a child already(no child with is previous spouse ) We have travelled to Sweden as a Family together twice and we have a baby girl that will be 1 in August .We intend to mark her birthday alongside that of her sister in California Disney land.I will like to know if we have a chance getting the visa because the last time when the pretty vo interviewing us in Abuja asked how he got his residency and he answered ,it immediately put her off.He is a business man(building materials) and I am an Assistant lecturer and legal practitioner in Nigeria .I wait anxiously in anticipation for your reply because I would not want to be rejected again and it definitely is not going to be worth it if my husband is not with us.Thanks a lot vo.

We can not go into details of any specific case, and we can't re-adjudicate here on Nairaland. You and your husband are welcome to apply and explain; every application is given a fresh look. Keep in mind, credibility established, or tarnished, in previous applications will influence any future cases.

Hello my great E family!!!!!!!!! am really happy to be part of you guys!

I have some concerns which I will like to share with my noble family. I applied for student visa to Canada this year Jan but was denied though they stated I can re apply, but what pained me so much was that my company wanted to sponsor it.

That's by the way, I had plans to to see a gynea for medical investigation if i have gotten my Canadian visa but since they denied me I have made up my mind to apply to USA on medical grounds.

I have also applied for a pleasure (vacation) visit last year to USA but was also denied. am confused as I don't know if I will also be denied if I applied on medical grounds.

PLEASE my great family I need your advice as in what to do and how to go about it.

Hello Abujaniv, good morning.

I filled and submitted Ds160 application form on 7th June, 2017. For some reasons, I have not paid or scheduled for interview.

I tried paying yesterday, GTBank staff told me the portal is not opening.

I will go back on Tuesday or Wednesday 21st June to do it.

My questions:

1. Can a submitted Ds160 form expire after a certain period?

2. Is it a problem if the date of Ds160 submission and date of Visa payment have a big gap?
