I remember someone wrote he risked submitting 820k as closing balance and got his visa, but to be on the safe side #1m upward but that alone won't guarantee visa issuance and don't go dumping money desperately into your account thinking it will work.

Your brother pays for your return ticket? accommodation? feeding? inland transportation? communication?

is it an all expenses paid trip?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by inphoenix: 1:05pm On Jul 04, 2017
The advice is to calculate how much the trip will cost you personally. Flight, accommodation, feeding, sightseeing etc. It is advisable that you have savings of at least twice as much as this and need to have a sizeable amount left as you shouldn't reasonably spend, for instance, 3 times of your monthly salary on a 2 week holiday.

There is no "minimum amount" as the Entry Clearance Officer will consider individual circumstances. Your monthly salary, your cost of living etc.

P.S. Your brother cannot pay for your trip. Even if he will do so in reality, you still need to convince the ECO you will be yourself.

I will stay at his place so accomodation is settled , so is transportation , feeding but I will pay for the ticket and communication.

Ticket is 250k to-and -fro

It is still expected that you have substantial amount of money left in your account to fall back on after your holiday just to resist that urge of taking up an employment during your stay.

Most people always present conservative budget of around 400-500k for their trip,if you take that of the suggested #1miliion you will discover you are left with just half of your balance, which is fair and reasonable,....main reason that figure is always suggested, but like I pointed earlier, someone from this forum with 820k balance and 5 months statement risked it and go his visa

I think it all depends on what you fill.
For instance is your brother contributing anything to the trip I.e paying for flight ticket, accommodation feeding
And what you are contributing

Considering the fact you've been to the uk before it should not be a pb.
My first visa was all paid for all I had in my account was around 50k.

And the last I renewed about a month ago, all expense paid all I had was about 30k.
So if you brother is sponsoring most or some and you bringing some, whatever you are having in your account should be at least twice what you are covering for the trip

Hello gurus in the house,

I intend traveling to the UK with an aunt of mine whose son will start his university programme in September, I'm currently working in a well known company here in Nigeria and my pay is around 130k presently to be increased by the end of this month to 180k. The problem now is there's no money in my account as a result of the cooperative I'm in. I pay part of my salary to the cooperative and use the rest for my upkeep. I'm suppose to withdraw my contribution my the end of September.

I'm thinking of making my aunt my sponsor, she has an oil and gas company so her account is tight.

I want you guys to please give me advice on how best to go about this. please I need your help

A friend directed me here tho, so Im very new. And I wantu ask a very interesting question sha, it's being aching me since I and my batch mates did our visas! Imagine' since 2nd of May and got application received mail the nxt day, till now nothing nothing except for the rumours, we are much tho about 55 students and fully sponsored by the Nigeria Fed. Govt.

Our sponsors are fully aware, they tried reaching Sheffield, mails came that visas will b ready soon, matter reported to the Nigeria High Commission in London recently and now we heard high commission called our sponsors back requesting for fees payment details that Sheffield asked for it.

But the part am really scared of' is the fact that our last school resumption date has passed and extension date has passed too, tho we are many as I said earlier about 55 students' we always hav our own class' every time we travel to any country and we can resume school anytime we get our visas and travel which I dnt knw if Sheffield knows that.

So at this point guys, can we still get our visas?
I really do need ur swift answers. Thnkx

Hi Guys,

Good job on the work here guys!!! I currently reside in the UK and intend to invite my mum over as i just had a baby. Mum is retired with a monthly pension of around 80k, that means she can't sponsor herself. I intend to send my savings bank statement with £4k+ for her application. She has previously visited UK during my graduation a couple of years back

1.) Do we still need to include her bank statement - to show her monthly income (Does this prove ties to home country?)
2.) Any idea how much the ECO will be looking for as maintenance for 2 months stay?
3.) Are the below list of docs good to go? any other docs to add?
- Mum's monthly statement
- Pension letter/docs to show she's retired
- My bank statement
- Invitation letter from myself
- Rental agreement here in UK
- My payslips
- wifey's payslips

I have 3 months left on my current work visa and ready to renew

- Is it advisable to invite mum while I have 3 months left on my visa or renew my visa first before inviting
- I haven't updated my bank with my new address, so the statement I intend to send to her has my old address while rental agreement has new address. Could this be an issue?

I do not have a defined answer to the question if you could invite your mum for a two month visit whilst your own visa expires in 3 months neither do I know the implications. I do not know how desperate you want your mum to visit.

As for the statement address. I suppose you could explain the varying addresses. However the less you have to explain yourself out the better. Some of the risks we take are totally unnecessary. My candid advise is avoid the irregularity as much as you can. It does not cost to fix this. Call your bank and change the address. If you do online banking, log in and change your correspondence address to the current address yourself. Then call your bank and request a duplicate statement (for whichever months though) which takes not more than 7 working days to arrive. The ordered statements will come to the new address with the new address on. I have done this so I can tell you. My bank is HSBC. However some banks may charge you £1 per page of any new statement if they had already sent you same previously.

You might not need to change the address on all months for which you want bank statements. You could change the most recent and explain when you moved house.

The ref will not work until your application is decided. In other words your GWF only reflects on the tracking once a decision has been made .
