Gaddafithe2nd: I really do not know what people are doing with degrees. The highest degrees, masters and Phd holders are working in Nigerian universities with average salaries of N100,000. Some of them have been collecting half salary since January 2017 due to recession. People lose sight of PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. How many degrees does Bill Gates, Jack Ma, Warren Buffet and Mark Zuckerberg have ? All this running around, is it not to have peace of mind and enough money to spend on future family ? Invest in PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, not PAPER DEVELOPMENT. If dem tell you the number of Nigerian degree certificates collecting dust inside peoples cupboards, you will know that paper is useless. Bill Gates will say, " I read 50 books every year".. No be exam book o.. 4 Likes 1 Share |

EmekaBlue:exactly am thinking same because i don't understand what sane person would leave a 500k jab in order to go pursue degree that you are not even 100% sure of your prospects after the degree.. A sane person would rather hold on to the 500k jab build his/her career skills and run a good MBA in Nigeria Hian! 2 Likes |

Do your homework very well before leaving, a boss of mine just left his job for UK, he walks home with not less than #500k in a multinational firm in Nigeria. My own brother left fed. Gov't. Job for his Msc. He is just too happy he took the decision. Don't forget to pray well over it. God be with you. |

Jaqenhghar: When you eventually leave Nigeria, after a few years you'd want to come back for whatever reason. Don't. Bring everyone you love to where you are, live near a place that has african stores, and if the urge to go to africa is strong, just build a house in Ghana. Problem solved. 2 Likes |

FortuneTeller:The thing is that many people don't do research before doing stuff they just follow the herd mentality. It's only in Nigeria I see people doing MBAs without any work experience. If one can't get into a top MBA program it's better to go for an msc at a top school at least if the worse happens you can still go for a PhD. An MBA from a low end school means a miserable life both abroad and in Nigeria. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Go for your MBA here in 9ja, millions of folks out there envy you and your current position. You can grow in your industry and remember that degrees or certificates cannot take the place of your hard earned years of experience, all the best in your future career, cheers! 1 Like |

IshaqAyinde:boss we all are not the same.. What worked for mR A can't work for MR B.. With a 500k jab in Nigerian, i repeat with a 500k jab in Nigerian. A wise man can utilise it judiciously and become a multi-millionaire. The problem is just that so many Nigerians are too naive they believe the so called abroad is there land flowing with milk and honey. VERY WRONG MENTALITY 1 Like |

First things first. How are you so convinced you will be happier settling down in Canada? Away from home, kindred, ur culture, freedom of expression? Well that's left for you to answer. If your answer is you are not convinced, no other deliberation is needed. Otherwise, if you are convinced, you won't be asking us this question. 1 Like |

Ephetar: Plan in detail, don't just leave because u are hell bent on leaving fr good Plan to the last detail, make contingency plans and counter plans. It will surely benefit you in the end if you plan very well Instead of MSc or MBA, since you have the experience, why not opt for skilled worker entry instead? That's a faster way to get PR and settle down easily And lastly do not quit they Job unless you have thay Visa in your hands and you have a way to get the PR. The travel section should be great to find out such information 1 Like |

FortuneTeller: You can't get into an MBA (a good one) in America without at least 3 years work experienceI have quoted my comment above. Show me a good school in America where they don't request for at least 3 years work experience. If you have 3 years work experience in McDonalds and the school finds you a good fit for their program, then they are likely to admit you. McDonalds is not all about flipping burgers. Your point highlighted simply means it is no a "good" school. Check employment report of all good MBA programs in the us and you'll see that for most programs, over 80% of graduates have jobs or start their own businesses within 3 months of graduating. In the last FT ranking, 51 US MBA programs were in the top 100. Only 4 had employment report below 80% after 3 months of graduation.

I think the issue should not be about money earn-able in Canada, but more about the quality of life. In most western countries, you WOULD pay bills and tax. You can earn plenty (e.g N4m equivalent monthly) but spend just as much trying to live and survive. Many people traveled and are not able to build a house in the village cos they cannot save to send funds home (some others do have it easy). Like someone mentioned earlier, you may earn N400k monthly in Nigeria but you live like a king and even have savings; this is after carrying all your responsibilities. My advice: Take study leave if you must go to school, graduate with good grades and during this period, consider the issues (salary, rent, tax, immigration policies, racism, business climate, etc) then make your decision to stay or run back and take your job which can have better prospects cos of your new degree. But please don't travel based on hearsay. Truth is we never value Nigeria until you travel to see somethings or have some experiences. May God Almighty guide you and continually bless Nigeria! 4 Likes |
