Ok so I am back . I shared my POE experience ( below). I had my LO in Houston via a successful VBAC in November and we are getting set to return home.

Hospital was the Texas Children's Hospital Women's Pavillion at the medical centre.

I had a flu shot and after delivery I had my Rubella shot..

I went in on Saturday night. Uber guy was like " is baby coming? I have to drive fast cos you not having a baby in my car" Lol!fastHad my baby girl on Sunday and was discharged on Tuesday

Filled docs for birth registration in the hospital on Tuesday and picked up the birth cert on friday applied for passport on Tuesday and picked up on Thursday . Applied for VOA on the 10th and got the approval yesterday the 13th. Added my LO to my Mom's ticket on Delta.

Anesthesia bill just came in as i type for $5950... I can only but LOL!! Will call and trash it with them. Has anyone encountered such bill and had it sorted with them? Pls pm oooo.

Getting set to go home abeg can't wait.

Any questions on the vbac please ask here.

Thank you

I go

Uniquezuri:
In the spirit of giving back: Let me start from the beginning

I had my B1/B2 visa renewed via Dropbox. We were to go on holiday but work happened for lehub and trip was cancelled. We decided to give birth in USA and I jammed this thread in the course of my research. I studied and asked questions and took notes like kilode. Fast Forward to

August 17th

MIL Applied for a visa as well.
VO: What are you going to the US for?
MIL: to assist my DIL who is travelling for childbirth with her toddler
VO: What state?
MIL : Houston, Texas
VO: pick up your visa in 3 days

None of the docs she went with was checked at all.

October 5th

Left Lagos via Delta airline with Toddler and MIL. Flight was Lagos>>Atlanta>>Houston. Chai!!Should have chosen better seats but no wahala when baby comes na keto and gym things to lose weight

Arrived Atl on Friday by 5.45 ish am. My LO decided to poop. So while others are getting off, i am in the restroom changing his diaper so we are behind on the queue.( Blessing in disguise i guess)

It gets to our turn.
CBP: What are you here for?
Me: To have my baby
CBP: Where are you headed?
Me: Houston
CBP: How much do you have on you?
Me: Bleep
CBP: OK Since you declared food and Bleep$ i will have to send you to agriculture and you have to fill a form so u won't be disturbed about the $$. Don't worry you won't be charged. Takes our finger prints and stamps us in for 6 months.

At Agriculture:
We take a seat and wait our turn. After about an hour, we are called.
CBP:Get your bags around here pls
Me: tries wheeling a trailer of 6 bags
CBP: Alarmed!!ALL those yours? ( you go dear bags naw)
Me: Yes
CBP: don't worry, i will come around myself. ( he comes around) Did you pack your bags yourself?
Me: Yes
CBP: How much do you have on you?
Me: Bleep$
CBP: show me
(He comes very close to me to show him in my bag. Said i should not bring em out. He saw the envelope and says that's okay. He didn't open it o. What if it was naira sef. Shows me another declaration form and I sign off)
That's okay you can go. Have a safe flight.
( no bag was opened at all)
Me: thank you ( I start to struggle with the bags)

CBP2 walks up to me. Are u resident here?
Me: No
CBP2: What are you here for?
Me: childbirth
CBP2: why not S.A or Uk
Me: I don't like S.A and UK visa takes long for application and I already have a US visa and your healthcare is cool especially for us self pay patients..

CBP2:He smiles. Helps me wheel our kaya to the connecting flight place and wishes me the best.

We board right on tum and arrive Houston. Saw my doc on Monday and chilling now. Got a flu shot that has made me ill see and my toddler just recovered as well.

The favour was just God all the way. Did I mention that i had my file arranged but never brought it outta my bag cos they asked for nothing?

They just dint see it ni o.
The CBP declaration card clearly asks if you are coming with beef etc. I filled it up once and they took my meat from me.
A friend had his sniffed out by the patrol dogs and seized.

Good day house. Went for my interview on Monday and visa approved but haven't gotten a message to pickup passport yet. Anyone experienced this before?
amija:
Long post alert
In Spirit of giving back,I have been following this thread for some time now and want to thank everyone that has contributed to this thread. God bless you all. now to the business,I have been going to the US since 2010 but My DW and first child, got thier first visa in september 2015 for visiting but she used it give birth to our 2nd child in november 2015, we never knew she can declare child birth until we found this thread. We used dr F, paid all bills and got zero balance. we used same visa for vacation in april 2017.
she and my first child did dropbox in october but was called for followup interview which they attended on 16th october 2017 but was denied on ground that she used her visiting visa to give birth in 2015. below is her transcript:

VO: Good morning,passport pls
DW: Good morning and hands over the passport
VO: how many kids do u have
DW: 2
VO: why are u not applying with ur second child
DW: because i had him in the usa
(guess he wanted to know if she will lie that she didnt give birth in the us)
VO: so u got ur visa in septmber 2015 for visiting and used it to give birth in november 2015?
DW: yes.
VO: so it means u lied during your last interview?
DW: she answered that she told them she was pregnant but was undecided if she was going to give birth in the Us
VO: did you pay all your bills and do u have proof
DW: Yes and she handed over all her payment reciept and zero balance from dr f and other service providers
VO: after going through the reciept, he said i can see you paid all your fees and its not a crime to give birth in america provided you can afford it. but u have to let us know ur intention during your interview
VO: so are u pregnant now
DW: she answered yes that she will be due in may 2018,
VO: so are you using this visa for birthing
DW: she answered that she has not decided on that yet, that the visa was for xmas holiday first
VO: but thats exactly what you told my colleague 2 years ago. after typing for some seconds, he then handed her over the blue paper and said i cant approve your visa this time.

So that was how DW came back rejected and dejected. I started researching and found this lovely thread and read all the info. we were determined to make things right so we decided to reapply but this time for medical visa. even though my visa expires in June 2018, i decided to also join in the application, and also included my mum. so its was the four of us(MYSELF,MY WIFE,MY MUM AND MY FIRST CHILD) applied this time. We first contacted Dr f and he sent in his correspondent, filled a new form and went for another interview on Thursday December 7th, by 10.30am.
we where directed to one black america lady and below is our transcript.

VO: Good morning, Passport Please
Me: Good morning and I gave him the 4 passport
VO: where and why are u going to the us?
Me: we are going for vacation but my wife and my mum will stay back to have our baby.
VO: checked my passport and saw that i still have a valid visa till june next year.
VO: u still have a valid visa u can still use the visa and apply through dropbox when it expires
Me: i know abt that, but am applying now cos after my 2 weeks vacation in march 2018, I will be going back in june 2018 to help bring back my litle one home, so i want the visa aspect to be sorted out on time.
VO: ok, i get it and excused her self to consult a superior officer on what to do with my valid visa.
VO: she returned and said i will be canceling your valid visa before we proceed with this interview,
Me: ok, no problem
VO: does your wife, child and mother also have a valid visa like yours?
Me: no, my wife and child US visa expired in september 2017 while my mum only has uk visa
VO: so why do u choose to birth in Usa and not other countries you have been to
Me: I replied because US offer daul nationality which others dnt offer and also the medical care in the US is very good
VO: so have u contacted a doctor?
Me: Yes,and handed over dr F correspondence
VO: went through it and asked if we have made any payment
Me: i replied that the doctor doesnt accept pre payment but i have the receipt of our previous delivery and handed it over to her
VO: she took it, went inside to consult another colleaugue, came back and ask if i have a budget sheet for the delivery?
Me: sure, i handed over my budget sheet.
then at this point she was going through my dr correspondence and budget sheet, my son started disturbing that he wants to wee wee.
VO: pls, take him to the toilet, i will be taking some time to document all this on ur profile so that u dnt have any problem at the Point of Entry'
(immediately I heard her talk of POE before even giving us the white pickup form, i became calm cos i knew she has made her decision.)
VO: sir, how long did u say u will spend on the trip and ur second trip, i want to be sure i have it correct on ur profile
Me: 2 weeks on this trip and 2 weeks on the next trip but my wife and mum will stay for 12 weeks.
after typing and updating for abt 7 minutes
VO: Your Visa has been approved, pls make sure u travel with ur previous delivery reciept and pls avoid staying unecessary long period in the US, i know its 6 months they grant at the POE but such long duration flags off alert on our system and he gave me the white paper.
Me. Thank u madam and do have a blessed day.
didnt even ask my wife or my mum anything, not even thier names. I know its just God that did. so second missionary journey Loading. next is ticketing, God bless all that contributed and pls dnt mind my long post

You can go to your DHL office to check. Sometime they will not send message on time.

You're welcome Mamaron. Congrats too.
mamaron:
My interview transcript

...original appointment was mid Jan 2018 but I applied for emergency appointment (thanks @Ll for answering my emergency appointment question) and was given a new earlier date...

VO: you didn't need to come for another interview you could have sent an email to the correspondence team and it would have been noted on in your file

I'm now wondering if the letter of intent really is valid...so confusing....I think both CBPs and VOs really just use their discretion...perhaps there's no policy manual of what to do in each circumstance...i
I agree with you here. To think that the VO went on record here to infer that the change-of-intent email is basically just spam.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by LI(m): 7:49am On Dec 15, 2017
Not at all. Emergency requests don't cost you money. I advise you make a new request, improve on the justification, then include additional supporting documents. All the best.
ALADE4J2:

Please Li, did you have to pay another visa fee in order to make the second emergency request? DW and my emergency request was denied today.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by LI(m): 8:28am On Dec 15, 2017
I agree it's unnecessary to schedule another interview when you already have a valid visa. However Mamaron made the best decision under that circumstance; I would have done the same thing cos even if she didn't get turned back at POE, she could be harassed by CBP.

Getting pregnant two months after your visa is approved is definitely a red flag, especially when the visa has not been used for the original purpose. Anybody could argue that she circumvented the system by getting pregnant right after her visa was issued, best to avoid those unnecessary situations.

jaysmom:
Congrats on your reissuance.

I personally don't think it is necessary to go for a visa interview when one has a valid visa and and has used it for the purpose it was intended
I guess there is a reason why US visas always has multiple entries.
If one is required to go back for an interview before every planned visit, then my assumption is they will stamp more of single entry visas.
I have used my B1/B2 visa for visit, childbirth, conferences, etc.i have never been queried abnormally at the POEs cos I always have supporting documents for my visit.
I might be wrong though.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by LI(m): 9:42am On Dec 15, 2017
Remember it is your responsibility to prove that you can afford the high cost of medical services in the US. Unfortunately, to the average critical eyes, what you did was prove the exact opposite.

You could have focused more on the fact that you have saved USD25k for this purpose (which is a lot of money by the way), while also showing that you have sufficient ties to your home country so it doesn't look like you have only saved this money to abscond to the US. Your information about a 60m which belongs to your dad and not you is what I believe is the real issue here.

I also couldn't help but notice that in one sentence, you said 25k dollars, then in the next one, you said 60m without including the currency, leaving room for assumption that the 60m is also in dollars. This point could be irrelevant, but who knows?

izaga3:
Good day house. So this happened today.

VO: why are u going to Georgia ?
Me: To have our baby
VO: where do you work?
Me: I run a hotel owned by my family.
VO: whats your budget?
Me: A little above 14k dollarsVO: Do you have evidence of those funds?
Me: Yes, I have 25k dollars in my dom account ( hands him the statement). I also have access to over 60mil in a joint accnt with my dad.
VO: where do u work?
DW: I am a supervisor at the hotel.
VO: Where did the money come from?
Me: From my family business.
Types into his computer and says I'm. Sorry but you do not qualify for a visa at this time.

Please guys where did we get it wrong??

No you don't have to apply for a renewal or get a new visa, your old visa is still very valid in as much as you enter the Us before it expires, even if it is a day before expiration, you'll still be ok.

When our original Emergency request was rejected, that field became active again so we could make another request without paying another fee. Except the procedure has been reviewed within the last 3 weeks, I'd say give it some time then try again.

I flew BA for my birthing trip twice and I always pay for my infant ticket at the airport on the day of departure. I just call them to add infant to my ticket. It's also faster at the airport if you pay with ur card instead of cash.
