Did you actually read the press release? The military just made clear they have presence around that forest and fly helicopters there etc. So your idea is, a foreign Govt have their own heli in the same environment where the Nigerian military is operating out of? How does that make sense?
They gave a clear explanation for the helicopters people were seeing, as theirs.
Litmus:

Military should not be too hasty in refuting these allegations; at least, not allegations of aircrafts dropping weapons. Such aircraft does not have to be Nigerian military aircraft just ones disguised to look as if Nigerian, which is what you`d do if you were acting clandestinely in Nigerian territory. Hope Military is conducting investigations and not just dismissing the claims from afar as ludicrous because of same. If West is behind much of these insecurity issues this is just the type of things they would get up to.

AGAIN TROOPS BOMBARD TERRORISTS' CAMPS, RESCUE WOMEN AND CHILDREN USED AS LABOURERS IN BORNO STATE

* Rescue 42 Women, 51 Children & 2 Men

* Neutralise Three Terrorists

In continuation of the ongoing clearance operations tagged "Halaka Dodo" within Sector 1 Operation LAFIYA DOLE, the troops of 112 Task Force Battalion and 22 Brigade in collaboration with members of Civilian Joint Task Force and Vigilante group had on Saturday 22 June, 2019 conducted a robust clearance operation to Kobe and Boboshe villages respectively.

The troops discovered newly established camps at Dubula village with some bicycles and motorcycle tracks. The camp was destroyed and one of the terrorists was neutralised while trying to escape.

The following items were recovered: Two terrorists' flags, two copies of Quran, One Generator Set and two bicycles. Additionally, 13 women and 26 children were rescued during the operation.

24 out of the children rescued were administered with polio vaccines by Nigerian Army Regimental Medical Officers in line with the Chief of Army Staff directive on the collaboration between the Nigerian Army and National Primary Health Care Development Agency to reach out to areas not captured in the polio vaccination exercise.

Similarly, the Acting Commanding Officer of 202 Battalion in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force, Vigilante and Hunters group conducted a robust offensive clearance operation to Tafana 1 and Tafana 2 villages.
The troops came in contact with some terrorists who fled their camps on sighting the approach of the ferocious troops in Mines Resistance Anti Patrol vehicles. Troops also neutralised the fleeing terrorists. During the operation, 2 men, 29 women and 25 children were also rescued.

Other items recovered includes two boxes filled with Quraan, two terrorists' flags, five bicycles, five SIM cards of different networks and assorted clothing materials.

In all the operations and victims so far rescued, it was observed that with the coming of the rainy season, farmers are preparing for the farming season, while the terrorists are also using women and children as farm slaves (labourers) in their farmlands to meet up with daily feeding challenges due to food drought in the forest sustained by the nobly ferocious operations of Nigerian Army troops.

In the circumstance, troops have been directed by the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai to upscale their patriotism and continue to dominate the battle space with aggressive decisive clearance operations from all flanks to ensure the looming defeat of terrorists of whatever shades in North East Zone.

The Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu has on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff commended the entire indefatigable troops of the Division for the latest exploits and exemplary tempo of the operation and conveyed to them the assurances of Chief of Army Staff's unrelenting support.

NAF COMPLETES FIRST SUCCESSFUL IN-COUNTRY PDM OF C-130H AS CAS FLAGS OFF ANOTHER REACTIVATION

The enhancement of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airlift capability and operational effectiveness to confront various security challenges in the country is part of the cardinal focus of the present NAF Leadership. Pursuant to this imperative, the NAF has, for the first time in its history, successfully completed the in-country Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) of a C-130H aircraft, NAF 917. This is taking place few days after receiving three L-39ZA aircraft that were reactivated in-country to enhance the number of serviceable fighter jets in its inventory. The acceptance ceremony for NAF 917, which took place at the 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot (631 ACMD), Ikeja, Lagos today, 24 June 2019, also witnessed the flag-off of the PDM of another C-130H aircraft, NAF 913. The local reactivation of NAF 917, which was carried out by Messrs SABENA TECHNICS of France in conjunction with NAF engineers and technicians, involved extensive disassembly of the aircraft parts as well as inspection, repair and overhaul of components, amongst others. The involvement of NAF personnel in the reactivation was to further expose them to every stage of the in-depth maintenance process, with a view to building the NAF's inherent maintenance capabilities.

Speaking during the acceptance ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the reactivation would impact on NAF efforts towards providing routine support and combat sustainment for NAF as well as Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) operations. He noted that the in-country maintenance had not only resulted in substantial foreign exchange savings for Nigeria but also marked the beginning of a new dawn in NAF’s strategic plan to develop a robust capacity for in-country maintenance and sustenance of platforms and equipment. The successful execution of the PDM, the CAS said, had further reinforced the NAF’s belief that, with the right attitude, dedication and encouragement, the Service would make huge progress and achieve success in human capacity development drive in support of national security imperatives.

According to him, “the significance of today’s acceptance ceremony can best be appreciated by acknowledging the critical role of airlift in ensuring that logistics requirements of our troops involved in various internal security operations are met within the shortest possible time. The C-130H fleet, in particular, has been one of the key fulcrums in providing sustainment to our troops involved in ongoing internal security operations through airlift and movement of troops, equipment, armament and other materiel. The C-130H has also been critical to NAF response to emergencies or in fulfilling Nigeria’s responsibilities to international peace keeping operations and ensuring stability, not just in the West African sub-region but also across the continent.” The CAS cited examples of operations in which the C-130H played critical roles to include ECOMOG operations in Liberia and Sierra Leone, airlift of troops to Congo, Mali, Sudan as well as the recent success of the ECOWAS Military Intervention Group (ECOMIG) operation in the Gambia through airlift of troops and materiel to and from the theatre of operation and a host of other peace keeping operations.

While appreciating the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the priority attention given to NAF’s efforts to maintain its platforms and equipment as well as the support to acquire new ones, the CAS emphasized that the in-country maintenance was to ensure the transfer of technical know-how and experience from the technical partners to NAF engineers and technicians. “This is in line with our plan to build in-house capacity to ensure that we domicile the skills and expertise required to carry out maintenance activities in order to better support and sustain NAF air operations especially in the face of competing needs for national resources. This is also the main thrust of all our other aircraft maintenance, reactivation and Life Extension Programmes as well as PDM efforts being carried out in collaboration with other technical partners on the Alpha Jet, L-39ZA, Mi-35P, EC-135 helicopter and C-130H (NAF 913), currently docked for PDM in this hangar. These efforts are also in tandem with our Research and Development (R&D) drive which has started yielding results in many areas such as local fabrication of tools and spares, some of which were utilised in the conduct of the recently conducted PDM”, he noted.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command (AOC LC), Air Vice Marshal Adeyinka Olabisi, expressed delight to finally witness a successfully executed in-country PDM after previous attempts had failed. He remarked that the acceptance of NAF 917 was a watershed in NAF’s long-term aspiration to domesticate in-depth maintenance of the C-130H Fleet, which was the strategic objective for the establishment of the ACMD. He explained that during the PDM, which is a calendar inspection conducted at 6-year intervals or after 5,000 flying hours, 631 ACMD also witnessed the reactivation of unserviceable hangar infrastructure and training of personnel in the use of some special equipment, which had been lying idle in its warehouse since the C-130H Fleet was delivered in the 1970s. Speaking further, the AOC said the 301 Heavy Airlift Group, Ikeja made painstaking effort to conduct comprehensive ground and in-flight acceptance checks to certify NAF 917 safe for flight operations in accordance with Lockheed Acceptance Checks Manual and international best practices.

The CAS was later conducted on a tour and briefed on details of project management process for the PDM of NAF 913 by the Pakistan Air Force Technical Assistance Group. While in Lagos, the CAS also commissioned some welfare projects which included a newly constructed Crew Room at the 47 Engineering Wing of 631 ACMD as well as a newly constructed Canteen for personnel at the 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, where he commended the Commanders for taking the initiative and adding value to improve the welfare of their personnel. He also inspected some vehicles and maintenance equipment which were reactivated through innovative R&D efforts at 631 ACMD. Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Commandant Armed Forces Resettlement Centre as well as the representatives of the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, along with many other senior serving and retired senior officers.

ADDRESS BY THE IGP MOHAMMED A. ADAMU NPM mni, THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE ON THE OCCASSION OF DEPLOYMENT OF THE K9 COMPONENT OF OPERATION PUFF ADDER TO NIGERIA RAILWAY STATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON 25TH JUNE, 2019 AT THE FORCE HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA

It is with a deep sense of professional commitment that I address you all on this occasion which marks the formal deployment of the K9 assets of the Nigeria Police to all our railway stations across the country. This initiative is within the context of Operation Puff Adder and it is planned to compliment the existing security measures emplaced for the security and safety of passengers and critical infrastructure of the Nigeria Railway Corporation across the country.

The deployment of special breed and exceptionally-trained police dogs for security duties is as old as human civilization. Hence, their utilization in combating crimes and sundry internal security threats in the 21st century cannot be over emphasized. Indeed, K9 are known to possess extra-ordinary capacity for detection of Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs), narcotics and other illicit drugs, firearms and other prohibited items which criminals usually engage for the perfection of their criminal activities. The deployment of Police dogs is therefore meant for detection or prevention crimes along the railway corridors. Their brief shall be for patrols, surveillance, detection and apprehension of felons in and around railway facilities.

The Nigeria Police prides itself as having one of the most equipped, experienced, highly-trained, and functional K9 Section. They also have commendable antecedent of successful anti-crime, crowd control and civil disorder management operations in the country. Indeed, it is on record that the Nigeria Police Force Animal Branch has been instrumental to the training and development of similar branches for other security agencies in the country.

By this event today, our plan is to maximize our unique K9 strength to complement other sections that have been deployed as part of the broad policing architecture which we recently emplaced towards addressing our internal security challenges. It will be recalled that prior to this time, about one thousand additional police personnel were deployed to the Nigeria Police railway Command. This unprecedented deployment was designed to address the manpower gap of the Command and reposition them to address vulnerabilities, projected threats, and security challenges which the increasing human traffic and expanding assets of the Nigeria Railway Corporation may present.

Just this morning, I watched the ‘Sunrise Daily’ Programme of Channels Television which focused on security of railway passengers and I was delighted to hear most of those interviewed confirming that indeed police security deployment has been significantly enhanced both around the railway facilities and in-coach. With today’s initiative, passengers, staff, and indeed, all the citizens of this country can further be re-assured of their security as they patronize the services of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

6. I can also assure that all the assets of the Police shall continually be mobilized and deployed towards denying criminal elements of any space to operate in any location in the country. We however, continually solicit the cooperation of all. We encourage all citizens to embrace the concept of ‘if you see something, say something’. Indeed, our appeal now is ‘if you suspect something, say something’. This is a civil obligation of all citizens and this is the most potent weapon towards collectively winning the war against elements bent on threatening our security.

May I at this juncture, commend the officers and men of the K9 Section of the Nigeria Police for their resolve and commitment in ensuring that the maximum capabilities of these dogs are harnessed for the safety of our country. Always be assured that your welfare and that of your dogs will always be of priority to myself and the entire management team as you join this operation today. As you have always been, I expect you to be of good conduct and operate within strict professional ethics as you proceed to the respective Railways stations across the country in service of your Fatherland.

I also wish to utilize this opportunity to commend all police personnel currently on the Operation Puff Adder duty for their sacrifice, loyalty, dedication to duty and professionalism which have so far aided the Operation in achieving its goals of stabilizing the internal security order. I am very proud of your achievements. I, however, charge you all to sustain the tempo, noting that crime is a dynamic occurrence and even though we have recorded tremendous successes, we cannot afford to lower our guards. I pray that Allah (SWT) continues to protect you all as you commit to the sacred duty of securing the citizens of our beloved nation.

I thank you all for your attention.
