Family / Re: My Story As A Surrogate Mother And Advice Needed by southernbelle(f): 2:21am On Mar 24
Your experience is very touching. I am familiar with the locations you have mentioned. I know some women/young girls have been taken advantage of in the name of egg donation, IVF and surrogacy in Edo State, and I really want the perpetrators to be made to face the law. Like others have said, please keep your evidence securely for now and make sure you can leave that place safely before you report it to the government. Even when reporting it, you will have to use mediums like Nairaland and Twitter too so that it is not swept under the carpet by government because Dr A and her husband might have long legs and connections that they can deploy to frustrate you. It’s so difficult to know who can be trusted nowadays but I will keep an eye on your profile and follow for updates so I can share to people I know as well. All the best!

As high as the tension is in the country currently, it is sad to see that people still have the guts to arrange fake kidnaps. I hope they are dealt with appropriately and the incidents are put in their police records so that they live with the consequences of their actions.
Crime / Re: Omorogbe Jennifer Soni Arraigned For Pushing A Police Officer Down In Lagos by southernbelle(f): 3:40pm On Feb 27
Nobody deserves to be physically attacked no matter the situation - there are too many instances we have seen that did not end well. NPF Officers can be annoying but common sense has taught some of us that dialogue is often the way out, not brashness and assault. I am sure the lady is already regretting her actions and will be very humble now; there will be lessons to learn from her case especially for people who feel they are hot-tempered.

Politics / Re: Showdown Looms At ICPC As Dissolved Board Members ‘stage Comeback’ by southernbelle(f): 2:24pm On Feb 19
These are part of the problems in Nigeria- why do we pay board members 2 million naira monthly to come and sit around and sad thing is, all government agencies have similar arrangements. When there are misconducts and allegations of corruption, one wonders why we never really see any strong resistance from these board members in the interest of Nigerians.

Politics / Re: Senator Dickson Shares Food To Bayelsa Residents As Christmas/New Year Gifts by southernbelle(f): 1:47pm On Jan 01
I can never trust the intent of Nigerian politician, it’s never really sincere - are we sure these food items and gifts are not part of palliatives that were hoarded? To note that these items from politicians are never distributed fairly and will only get to party members and their relatives/associates, not necessarily to the people who really need them - that’s how it’s done.
Politics / Re: COP28: FG Spends N2.78bn On Estacodes, Airfares by southernbelle(f): 2:11pm On Dec 31, 2023
The government has been spending a lot of money on COP attendance for so many years, not just this year. Nigeria’s delegation is always huge, which is very unnecessary in my view because there is not a lot of value add from attending. The reporter should also do well to check the numbers for COP26 which the UK hosted in 2021, the delegation from Nigeria led by former President Buhari was also over a thousand despite COVID. There is something else that they did not mention: they should check out the money Nigeria spent to purchase a pavilion - Nigeria always gets a pavilion (more like a national office) at the COPs and it ain’t cheap.
Family / Re: How Can Husband Be AA And Wife Is AS, And Baby Is SS? by southernbelle(f): 2:03pm On Dec 31, 2023
DamnnNiggarr:
shocked

Go for a DNA test in several DNA centers, could be a case of baby swap, God is not a confusionist.

AA + AA = excellent, all their children will be AA throughout (Therefore, they can marry)
AA + AS = Good, One of their children will be AS, (therefore, they can marry)
AA + SS = Fair, all their children will be AS throughout (therefore, they can marry)
AS + AS = Hmmm 🤔, one of their children will be SS, (therefore, not advised)
SS + SS = run o! run for your dear life.

This is very wrong information, I know you are using that genotype crossing diagram to make calculations but this is the wrong interpretation.

That diagram just shows the chances of having a child of all the possible genotypes depending on that of the parents. For example, taking number 2 on your list: AA+AS, the possible genotypes resulting from this union will be AA and AS, no SS. So if they have 4 children, all 4 can be AA (there must not be an AS) or all can be AS (and no AA), 1 child can be AA nd others AS, 1 can be AS and others AA, or there can be an even split of AA and AS.

It will be great if you can discuss with a medical expert for more insight please, so that you understand better too.

@nlfpmod, @RoyalRoy, please can you delete this post to ensure people don’t get misinformed.

Thank God these ones have been caught - there is a lady amongst them too as seen in the video. So many of the 419 gangs operating in Abuja and some have even moved to various forms of kidnapping to try and rip their victims of more money. I hope their other victims can see them and go to provide evidence and testimony that will help extend their time in prison.

This is such a laudable achievement in Edo State and such Education Model would go a long way in improving the standard of Learning and Teaching overtime even after your Administration Sir

More Grace to Make Edo Great Again Great Governor of Our Time

Sycophants like you will never tell these politicians/government the truth and the sad thing is that most of you milling around these politicians are exactly that. Which education model has improved learning standards in Edo State and where? Please show me one school where his so-called system has worked (independently assessed) and I will direct you to hundreds of schools where the learning environment and quality of education is so terrible that one will wonder if there is a governor or ministry of education in the state. How long ago was it that we saw the video of a teacher and students kneeling down to beg the governor for basic amenities in the school? Do you know how many such schools are littered around Edo State?? Will you allow your child/ward get education in such schools?? Be honest with yourself, since you are praising him as a great governor. Idiot!

Unlike Nigeria, where politicians (old and young) have no business with paying rent. Most of them build personal houses (usually above 4), then move on to build hotels and plazas, and own properties abroad, but they are never still content and continue stealing. Foolish set of people

So many underhand dealings going on in this country and it still surprises me everytime each is unravelled that there are Nigerians who are part of these shenanigans and don’t care about the detriment to the nation.

The Minister also mentioned reviving the mills again - can’t they just handover to the private sector? Government should not be in business.

Business / Re: Jumia Food To Shutdown In Nigeria From December 2023 by southernbelle(f): 12:06pm On Dec 14, 2023
These apps and online food delivery businesses were most relevant during COVID when people valued the convenience and over time, people built direct relationships with some restaurants which meant they could bypass the apps and order from the vendors directly or as is more popular post-COVID, just visit the restaurants themselves. In some cases, we even buy directly from friends, family members and even SMEs on Instagram/X who started the food business as well.

I think we should also factor in the fact that a lot of the educated young people who use services like this have japa'ed so this will definitely affect demand.

And for the past months/years, the economic conditions have been so tough that people don't have the money to spare anymore to buy food online when they are cooking their own meals to save money and even devising means to save cooking fuel while at it. The last time I ordered food on the app for two people, I was surprised at the total amount it came up to when I finished - too high for a one-time meal.

Jumia Food did good, they were there when we really needed such a service; I am sad to see them go but it is what it is.

So many of my prayers were answered this year, unexpectedly and even beyond my expectations...my heart is really overflowing with joy this December. Looking back to early this year, things really looked bleak and I thought 2023 was going to be unfulfilling but at some point, things took a different turn and it became goodnews galore for myself and family. Thank you Lord God my Creator for answering my prayers and granting my wishes.
