This is a matter of historical records. Awolowo was in Calabar Prison. He was released by then Lt. Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, military governor of Eastern Nigeria. That is a fact. Chief Awolowo never contradicted this very fact in his living days. This occurrence is one of those facts of our history as a people and country. Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu stated this over and over in many interviews (Newbreed, 1983, Newswatch, etc.) and his claim has until today was never contradicted or denied by those close to both men or time witnesses. Ojukwu has made his claim several times. He made the claim even while Chief Awolowo was up and about. I do not recall Chief Awolowo disputing or contradicting Dim Ojukwu's claim. Incendiary statements such as those above do not help clarify the fact for posterity, and it is those of you unsavory liars who now feel the need to rewrite history. |
I may be banned for this post, but the facts need to be set straight. Anatomy of the problem: In the thread referred to here: https://www.nairaland.com/7825461/drop-name-nigeria-demeaning-wole. One poster, in a now deleted post, claimed, and according to him, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in an act of benevolence, prevented the North from decimating the Igbos during the war. Such dangerous, blatant lies peddled as facts must not be allowed to exist without rebuttal. This is how false narratives are created and perpetuated as true accounts of historical events if left uncorrected. Therefore, the falsehood is counted as follows: Awolowo was the architect of the wartime starvation policy that starved millions of Biafrans and caused the death of Biafran children, women, and the elderly. As a federal commissioner, he advised Gowon to blockade Biafra in a strategy of starvation to force the people to surrender. Awolowo is a war criminal who knowingly committed a crime against humanity, starving thousands of Biafrans and killing hundreds of thousands of children and women. Background: Now, let us also remember that at the outbreak of the war, the criminal Awolowo was in prison serving a sentence for treason. A common criminal who habitually conspired and violated the laws of the Republic and was duly tried, convicted, and sent to prison. Obafemi Awolowo was convicted of treasonable felony, conspiracy to commit felony, and conspiracy to effect an unlawful purpose, and sentenced to ten, five, and two years imprisonment on all three counts, and was imprisoned in 1963. He was later released from Calabar Prison after the outbreak of hostilities in August 1966. Some neo-revisionist historians dispute who actually ordered his release. But we also remember that after the declaration of Biafra on May 30, 1967, Calabar, where Awolowo was serving his prison sentence, effectively became Biafran territory and under direct Biafran control. So, logically, who had the territorial authority to order his release and what were the terms of his agreement? Let's be clear, Ojukwu released the unrepentant tribalist and traitor who had repaid him and his people in bad faith. |
TemplarLandry:Corrected!. |
Racoon:Those who betray our southern interest to their northern slave masters are plenty. But it will be helpful to name and shame the region where the majority of these shameless Fulani house-slaves originated. We know them, we can name them. |
Pandar01:I see an extremely stupid, inferiority complex-plagued, underachieving individual who would rather come out in the open to embarrass his poor parental upbringing, you. Get a job or enroll in a skill acquisition program that can help you overcome your obvious life deficit. Most Nigerians are not stupid, you are stupid and uncouth. |
Delta State Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate, Ken Pela wins his appeal at the Federal Court Of Appeal in Abuja. He lost his case in the Delta State Governorship Election Tribunal on technicalities. On appeal, the JUDGES at the Appeal Court Abuja disagreed with the judgment of the Delta State Governorship Election Tribunal and overturned the judgment. More details later... |
Fear don dey catch the election thief in Abuja. I strongly believe that a group of patriotic members of our armed forces have already hatched a ready-to-deploy plan to correct the dwindling democratic values in our political arena. Whether they move to implement this plan will largely depend on the direction of our political and democratic development in the coming months or even years. |
Pandar01: So, it still beats a rational mind how some of you get emotionally invested in things that have no direct effect on you. Your type loves dictators and is probably a narcissist. What you need to do is read what I have written again, and this time slowly. You might learn something. Rest assured that at my present age, you cannot achieve my academic qualifications and professional achievements in a first-world country. Let that be a motivation for you to work harder at improving yourself instead of displaying juvenile emotional rants in public. |
christistruth01: You'll agree that I should not derail my thread, so I'll pass, for now. All I asked is a yes or no. |
christistruth01: -- |
9jatriot:We no longer respond to dolts. Pls. respond to the topic next time. |
christistruth01: I am really concerned that Ilorin now belongs to Gambari, and your people are now subjects to Fulani masters. You and your people may want to concentrate your time on figuring out how to retrieve that piece of real estate your fore-fathers gambled away. |
FreeStuffsNG: Since you flagged off your presentation mouthing off about oil in Lagos, and the real Nigeria oil providers as "other parts", please educate us, how much oil does Lagos and indeed Ondo contribute to the national bottom line? |
Aonkuuse: You'll have to exclude me from that demography. |
WorldRichest: I've done extremely well for myself, thank you. Let me know where your generational poverty has driven you so that you have to turn into a loser's apologist. |
The topic regulates. Most people believe that a civilian coup d'état happened in Nigeria on February 25. Failing equitable judicial redress, should the military reset our political space?. Please, Yes or no?. |
Terrorists!. No more Buhari to cover your criminality. There are no innocent Fulani herdsmen. I don't recall where they had ever squealed on their crime-loving brethren so they can be held to account. And for the few who may be unjustly incarcerated, if any, the many guilty who are still free and continuing in their various criminal enterprises justify their situation. And, Fulani are not in any father's land in Nigeria. Period!. |
Yorubalandlord:Their relationship goes way back. Peter Obi was his landlord at Nsukka. The Sultan said so himself. |
90dbest:A sledgehammer on a nail's head. You nailed it, my friend. |
Throwback: So let me tell you what I think about the Like and Share button that we all like to use here at Nairaland Mr. mob member. My ratio over a long period of time is 9:1. That is 90 to 10 percent. 90 is up and 10 is down. To be honest, I would be worried if it was 100 percent. So it's okay the way it is. Overall, it means that in a forum that is visited by thousands of people from different ethnicities and backgrounds, 90 percent seem to agree with my point of view. That is huge, and they are so right. The 10 percent of people who have reason to disagree are just as entitled to that point of view, and I welcome and respect their choice. So you see, I am not consumed by your thoughts or the shenanigans of your little being. Now run along and get a goddamn life while you're at it. |
I have argued that the problem with Nigeria lies with the Yoruba. They are the ones who “broadcast” false narratives. They controlled the media space then and used it effectively to spread the falsehood against Igbo which has taken a life of its own today. Everybody read newspapers in those days, and they belonged mostly to our South West brothers. They controlled the press machine on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, and they are the people who should put out the fire they started. But I'm not hopeful, to the contrary. The Yoruba need a “special anointing” to free themselves from hatred and “small thinking”. It is unfortunate that all the churches their sons have founded have done nothing to stem the tide, but I am indeed happy to learn that those among them who are resistant to change have now been confined to the fringes of societal advancement by the moderate and reasonable Yoruba brethren. The McOluomo's are no longer the toast of Fuji praise singers, isn't God great?. The recalcitrant troublemakers are with Tinubu, while the moderate brothers are largely Obidients as adduced from the true Lagos presidential election result. That's a great consolation. A great win for Nigeria and Nigerians. |
Lanretoye:God punish you and your useless family for 6000 years |
mrmayoh: Responding to you gang of adolescent clowns is really becoming a waste of precious time. If you took the time to copy the lies sold to you by the criminal Mahmood and his fellow clowns in INEC, you should also be expected to use your free-given cone heads to decipher the true picture of events. They stole votes from Obi and Atiku and added them to the demented clown in Aso Rock. More from Obi than Atiku. The tribunal must now recalibrate these figures based on the evidence presented during the trial. Even where they declared Obi the winner, the numbers were devilishly shaved and then added to the loser at the State House, Abuja. For starters, Ahmed Tinubu is the only candidate who lost his region in the just concluded presidential election, thus: Winning percentage in the South-South region: Atiku 19% Kwankwaso 0% Obi 47% Tinubu 37% Winning percentage in Southern Region plus Middle Belt: Atiku 20% Kwankwaso 1% Obi 40% Tinubu 39% In spite of the massive irregularities, vote buying, ballot snatching and the magic hands of the governors in the states where Obi was predicted to sweep, the results confirmed the expectations. In Lagos, for example, even the PDP confirmed Tinubu got only 155,401 votes against the 572,606 allocated to him by the criminal INEC. Peter Obi defeated Tinubu at his doorstep with over 983,069 votes, Atiku Abubakar 101,039, and Rabiu kwankwaso 7,551. That is 827,668 or 84.2% more votes than the Bourdillon Road election thief got at his doorstep. And it didn't end there. They doubled down in their efforts to contain Obi in Kaduna, where Atiku came out on top. Peter Obi's votes at this location were drastically scavenged by the pigmie at Sir Kashim Ibrahim house. Nasarawa was a sorry story, but the people were determined to return a man after their heart, even as they stole his ballots and added to the drug dealers. The same story was on autopilot across all APC controlled states. If anyone believes that the results that came out of the Southwest reflect the true state of play in this region, then I have an oasis to sell you in the Sahara desert. In Rivers State, for example, Peter Obi defeated his closest rival, Ahmed Tinubu, with 326,816 votes to Tinubu's 154,505. Atiku and Kwankwaso got 87,296 and 4,535 votes, respectively. So this pattern is well established and makes it fairly easy to extrapolate the outliers. Peter Obi won Taraba State. His margin of victory magically shrank in Nassarawa, Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, etc. The number of votes contested by Labour is no less than 1,618,000 and this is just the tip of the iceberg. If we subtract this number from the allocation to the drug dealer, he immediately slides to the number 2 position, and the picture gets clearer. Now, we have crunched the numbers internally based on the variables. When the dust finally settles, and if for once Nigerian judges can be trusted to tell the truth and do the job they are sworn to do, the materials available to them will reflect the following, and there are still many recoverable ballots from all the states that have yet to be included in the overall calculation: Peter Obi: 7,718,322 + 25% in the FCT Ahmed Tinubu: 7,176,937 Atiku Abubakar: 6,984,520 When they assault your ears with rants of “Peter Obi dumped inadmissible documents on the court,” their hearts are actually bleeding. They know these are hard-coded information the judges will require in reaching their decisions if they chose to. These were INEC certified result sheets, not party agent's copy, and are statutory results. Tinubu did not win any of the votes rich KKK states, lost the popular vote in the south and middle belt, did not also win in the northeast. How then could Tinubu have won the highest number of lawful votes?. I expect the usual name-calling and attack on the messenger from those who have sequestered their brains as their lives steadily slide into an avoidable abyss. Make I go chop jare. |
