Nigerian gave corolla such market value, not Toyota
this is exactly the reason for these questions..I googled and couldn't find any concrete reason for the disparity in pricing despite the similarities grin

High demand for corolla
Demand, supply & price.. Remember secondary school economics?
something about corolla made it high on-demand despite matrix' existence.
Ppl won't demand to buy something more expensive that is purely similar to another commodity in d market for no reason.

you are buying same car, 400k cheaper.

#end.
if you'll throw sentiments aside, you'll admit 400k is not a dismissive sum in the price difference btw two cars; widely acclaimed as perfectly similar.

What could av made toyota give corolla such market value over matrix.. that's where my curiosity lies.

I can afford to buy matrix now..but I intend to chill a little for corolla instead in about a month's time..
It's helpful answer like this that helps me in making an informed decision. Thanks

Yea u are absolutely right. The reason why I said so was that, most micro- financr banks verifies to know if u dont have outstanding debt or servicing loan b4 approval. Some ll give option of buy out ur outstanding debt
microfinance banks dont even reason collateral these days.. they are more interested in salary earners, which am not..
I am d low-key business man from day 1..now I need a loan to expand my income flow.

How can you compare someone with a fix salary with Uber Job? Someone who is sure of his regular salary at the end of the month. Even if he spent all the time gossiping or idling he's sure of his salary. But then I see you were the one that didn't think deeply before replying and I won't bother replying you again. Read my comment again, okay what I actually mean in a sarcastic tone is they sit down there gossiping or be sleeping in their cars because of no request. I will never discourage anyone that want to quit his job to join Uber, like I said earlier let him use some weeks maybe during leave to try first before finally making up his mind to quit his job. You don't dip your two legs at once into a river you don't know how deep it is. Thanks
the more u talk(mostly out of context).the more of yourself U reveal sir and not in a good light at that.

1. Do u realize the ones who periodically get laid off by banks, oil companies etc, once had your FIXED SALARY?
Nigeria's largest P&G plant In ogun state closes down this month and many more Nigerians will lose their jobs with a once FIXED SALARY

2. I'd like to assume u know what job security means; if u tell urself that exists in this economy..I dunno what to say to u anymore

3. Whoever said to dip his legs wholly in a river?
It's so strange how u badly describe a vocation over 10,000 riders are currently engaged in; in a bid to make someone get a point..
It's either u are not happy with yourself or your job;
either ways...neither of them is a recipe for progress.

grin grin On a lighter note tho..ppl who worship a 180k+ job in the name of fixed salary are just the types who are afraid to take giant strides in their life..
The types that are more interested in monthend alerts than the value they add to the organisations themselves.
I don't advocate for quitting his job outrightly..but u supporting the idea that e-hailing biz is useless enough to go back to a 180k+ job for, is hypocrisy to me

In the end.its the ones who were stupid enough to take the steps u refused to take that end up employing u..so u can get a FIXED SALARY that u want, coz u are afraid to make money by virtue of your direct input.

I now understand u bro..

But the drivers that are making 400k plus are they not these ones I see at every bus stop? That always gather and be gisting and be waiting for request from God knows where, some have turn their car seats to their bed. In some places they even have benches they sit to gossip and talk about their experiences with the riders. Yesterday night come see men at Admiralty way all with their apps on most sleeping in their cars. People at home be like 'he went to work'. I beg I no wan talk
grin grin
I see u make some statements without deep thoughts..you talk of drivers sleeping in vehicles to meet targets..or whatever
Do u need me to give u 1st hand experiences of bankers who earn 180k+ monthly..the ones u see in Posh suits and shoes but slave themselves to meet targets and work long hours..close from work awfully late..get up 5am to face a BRT queue and fatigue-inducing traffic to work..and back home at night as well...?
Ppl who are so enslaved to loans to do stuffs with their life and end up working their ass out to pay them..who can't even save 35% of their salary monthly.
Peeps who gossip during free hours discussing how a modern day slavery their job is.

Yet ..we see them and tell ourselves..that is a prestigious well dressed bank worker on the way to his/her air-conditioned office.
Does that make a bank job totally useless..?
Not only bank jobs..but in other sectors too

U can't come up a thread with myopic expressions to score cheap points in a debate..
Every vocation has its ills ..big ones at dat..

A full grown man with a 180k+ job who heavily considers resigning is not stupid..you don't live his reality. Trying constantly to dissuade him from trying o his hands out in new waters by painting horrid scenarios to him and others here makes u reek of hypocrisy.

Som1 is dying so bad to be wherever u are today; someone elsewhere is toiling so hard as well to leave that stage u are currently trying to get to in your life tomorrow .

Well, I can't rule out the possibility of luck but this is rare. Try save up a bit and get a car that won't give you stress.
someone stil told me today noon that it's possible to be sold a used car while a dishonest auto technician will claim its toks..
Invariably..honesty is key..which is very rare unless one is recommended to a good one based on experience

any idea how much for the toks?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by 0ubenji(m): 6:02pm On Jul 10, 2018
Stealth100:
That price range will get you a naira used car. Up your budget a little, a 1.3 matrix or corolla should still be sound enough for the job.
Someone I know is selling a clean 2004 matrix used for 5 months(not on uber) for 1.450m if you can up your budget a little, it should be a good buy.
I can get tokunbo 05' corolla for 1.3M?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by 0ubenji(m): 4:40pm On Jul 10, 2018

Your budget will get u a 2005 civic (toks)

A sound 05 corolla is around 1.3m, u can get some below that price but may not be sound.
Matrix is also within your budget

I would suggest u get a car with good resale value incase u wanna quit.
any of the aforementioned with a good resale value?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by 0ubenji(m): 4:27pm On Jul 10, 2018

Well, there is an easy way out for investors/partners. Reason why we have to buy a car with good resale value.
can u recommend any in the range of 800k-1.2M?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by 0ubenji(m): 3:48pm On Jul 10, 2018
Dovehorizon:
Yes it's very realistic and what's not realistic is when one peg his weekly remittance to 45-50k with the aforementioned vehicles. If said cars are toks, then 40 is okay.
As for comprehensive insurance, it depends on the value of the car and the package
thanks so much for the helpful replies..one last question tho. cool
Realistically; What kinda car model can I get for 800k -1.2M with a delivery potential of 30-40k weekly remittance?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by 0ubenji(m): 2:25pm On Jul 10, 2018
Dovehorizon:
30-35k is actually very reasonable if car is in good condition.
If you have the time, you can manage it yourself but if you don't then u can give it to a fleet company.

Lastly, don't forget insurance, comprehensive insurance is ideal.
as reasonable as it seems, I do Hope it's realistic for the aforementioned car models in your earlier replies to me..If u don't mind my asking.. do u get as much as that from your drivers as delivery weekly?

2. I hear 100k should suffice for Insurance costs..how true plz.
