A refreshingly new title has been published. It's called The Oil In Our Soil. From the restless pen of the author of Words And The World, the new book sets out to be using "a non-preachy inoffensive narrative style" to delve into the serious issue of "the remote and underhand influences in the Nigerian oil economy from rear to fore and top to down, revealing among other things how come the owners of the land are slaves in their own homes and exactly how these people, ab initio, never needed to blame anyone but themselves". The Oil In Our Soil introduces quite provocatively with a damning allegation. "The number one problem with Nigeria is neither region nor religion. It's also neither the people nor their cultures. It is crude oil" it says. That's quite a claim but the author seems rather bold about it, saying, "to achieve this end with profound effectiveness, I have chosen to adopt a non-preachy, inoffensive narrative style. As you go through the twists and turns of this simple narrative, you will personally see the remote and underground factors that have played out in the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole but which most Nigerians may have lost sight of for about six decades now". Those are really unique content claims. Yet, where you may be in for the big shocker is in how The Oil In Our Soil is delivered. This is probably the first ever 'episodic' novel by which the author presents it as a literal soap opera where you read as the thought keeps developing and incorporating relevant daily and historical events. After reading one episode, you expect the next, full of suspense. But, the author did not mention suspense as his reason for choosing this style. Instead he says, "this is to make each reader find a personal connection with the developing thought process that is the story. Historical and daily events feature at the appropriate segments. This style is also to prevent the story from boring you (since they say Nigerians hate to read a lot. Sorry if I've just lied about Nigerians. But, mind you, great readers become great leaders, especially in this knowledge-driven era of history). Another reason this piecemeal delivery has been chosen is so that you will have time to reflect on each episode or set of episodes before the next one is published. That's because it is meant to teach you very profound lessons about personal and community success which Nigeria and Nigerians have missed and become prey because of it". Is it not now a cliche that "the real taste of the pudding is in the eating"? So, there is hardly any doubt that you'd like to personally have a feel of this new philosophical novel. If this describes you, you can head over to the publisher now to get your copy. What else can one say? Enjoy the ride... oh, the read. Thank you. Source: Google Africa Scope Series

I have been wanting to share this but I always forget. To start with, I want to let you know that there is no relationship that doesn't have problems and I mean VERY SERIOUS problems. These are the types of problems you will be like "there is no way out of this". But the good news is that THERE IS ALWAYS A SOLUTION SOMEWHERE AROUND. When we don't know this, we may feel ashamed because of a problem in our relationship as I did for more than 3 years. Then, we fail to solve it and continue to suffer from it. About 3 weeks ago, I met someone on Twitter talking about RHM (Relationship Hack Meditation). I took it as one of those things we see on the internet. But, because I was really going through a lot in silence, I decided to try it. To my surprise, it worked like magic. My advice to anyone who wants to try it is: be as honest as possible while doing it. Also, try to complete it (3 days). |
Please, I am here to share my very very sour experiences with Godaddy so that you don't fall a victim as I did. Because the company has made a name when it comes to hosting and domain name registration, I thought I should host an important domain name with them. But I have lived in constant sorrow with the stupid company started by a stupid foolishly arrogant British idiot called Bob Parson. I have always believed that any company that doesn't take its customer service seriously is not worthy to exist, and that is Godaddy for you. Imagine! Godaddy does not have an email for linking up to their customer care and they don't have a means to chat them up which is the least they can do in this age. Instead, all they have are old-looking phone numbers in a few countries. Only one of these countries is in Africa (that is, South Africa). I had an issue with my domain and I called their UK number, it was blocked. I called their US number, it gave a few automated responses (like "press 1") and then died. I called their South African number and it went dead too as soon as it connected. I have tried again and again and again all to no avail. |
Hello guys, A new site is making big promises. Their promises sound incredible but the Admin said, "those of you who think that this site is a scam, wait until 30th and see if you will not get paid or not". So, as a researcher, I want to find out if they are real. How am I doing this? Since they are not asking for any investment, I want to have people register and I follow them up to know if they got paid. I know that their promises sound incredible but, also, it's only fools who don't know that all things are possible. Who knows if the guy has discovered a new way? Since 30th is already close, I want us to work together. If there is any success to be achieved, we achieve it together (because, united we stand stronger) and help other people. We will also share ideas to help one another. But if we find out that the promises are false in a few days from now, we will expose them together to stop them from deceiving people. I'm sure you'd like this. These are the promises the site in question is making: You earn #500 instantly when you create an account (they have fulfilled this to me). You earn #250 per Referral You earn #10 when you refer someone to the site, even without registration. You earn #50 when you ask a question You earn #25 per comment You earn #200 when you publish a post You earn #10 when you view a post You earn #50 per daily log in You get paid on the 30th of each month once you have earned up to #5000. So, if you want to be a part of my experiment, Whatsapp me on 07053311253. If you have any questions, you can ask me below. |

I am working on my e-commerce site which is meant to be used for receiving international payments (USD precisely). I hoped to use Paystack or Voguepay WordPress extensions but I discovered there are many problems with both. Then, someone advised me to use Flutterwave, saying that I can always use it to receive International payments seamlessly. But, before wasting my time on them, I need to hear from actual users first. Please, kindly help. |
Here are 10 quotes I gathered from the sage doctor and poet Desmond Diamond for your reading pleasure and learning: 1. I am not a millionth as important as the message I have for you. 2. Faith is a reality program, not a fiction. 3. You don't need faith when you don't have to. 4. He who made the ear must be able to hear and hear more than the ears that he has made. 5. Believe it or leave it, whenever and wherever we pool our spiritual resources, unimaginable things cannot but happen. 6. This is not about religion. It's rather about reality. It's spiritureality. 7. Many of us have been wasting our spiritual resources on negative emotions like fear and worry over COVID-19. 8. Now, let's realize ourselves and use what we have: The power to reach Heaven from the Earth. 9. One of the worst things that can happen to you is that you don't know what is happening to you. 10. Take off your insecure feelings Which can't save you from killings But may actually remove your ceilings And strike off your wallings |

This opportunity is pretty much already an old one. So, I am sure that many people out here already know about it. I am only posting this for the sake of those who may not already know and those who are still struggling to succeed on the job. You have an opportunity to report news or write your views on Opera News Hub platform from wherever you are and get paid every month through Opay. Opera News Hub belongs to the same conglomerate that owns Opera/Opera Mini browsers, Opay, Oride, Ofood and a number of other services. So, they have a worldwide reputation you can rely on. People are getting paid up to N140,000 monthly for this job while others are not seeing up to N5,000 monthly. This is because the amount you generate depends on the amount of activities (such as page views, shares, comments, etc) that your contribution generates for the Opera News Hub site. So, how do you succeed? You have the opportunity of posting a maximum of 5 contributions daily. Your post may be accepted or rejected based on certain reasons (such as copyright infringement or bad grammar or falsehood). So, the first step towards success is to take the job as seriously as you would take any other job. So, before you start working, make sure that you have read their policy and are ready to abide by them. You will have the opportunity to read the policies during sign-up. Basically, the way to succeed is to continue to share those things you have always shared online. Take the job seriously but make it fun for your creativity to flow. You can report what has already been reported elsewhere but not verbatim. I will be using this post to provide more updates and tips on this and for others who are working on the platform to exchange views. For now, however, sign up first (click here). Then, wait for about 24 hours for your account to get approved. After sign-up, I would advise you to be returning to this page as we are going to be sharing tips and guides for success on the job here. |

LESSON ONE: DON'T LOOK DOWN ON YOUR PASSION/IDEA Welcome back great African soul! I am talking to YOU as an individual. I have not addressed you this way in order to flatter you (I don't have time for flattery). Instead, I have addressed you this way because that's who you ACTUALLY are. How do I mean? To answer this question, let me start by confessing my 'sin'. Do you know why I did not start sharing these lessons from the beginning? This is the reason: I wanted it shared with only those FEW who value idea because, as Jesus said, "do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." (Matthew 7:6) (DISCLAIMER: I am not a pastor and I am not religious though, but I know and love God who is the Truth. That's by the way). The reason those dogs will fight you (rather than appreciate you) is that they do not know the value of sacred things and precious jewelry. Thus, they think you mean evil when you give them such a value. So, for YOU to know the value of knowledge enough to subscribe to this post, believe it or not, YOU are a GREAT SOUL waiting to manifest. And, without a single doubt, I know that what I share from now will help you manifest far faster than you ever thought possible from this 2020. But, you must be ready to READ thoroughly and to the END of each lesson. Readers are leaders as they say. Instead of you to waste your precious time in empty chatters that drag down your IQ level on Nairaland, why not invest it in this discussion that will SURELY transform your fortune beyond imagination from THIS VERY YEAR? My fellow Africans, I tell you our major problem, the reason we are remaining slaves to the rest of the world from century to century: It is because the average African does not appreciate the value of idea just because idea is invisible and looks quite commonplace. Yet, all history proves that saying that "idea rules the world". So, Africa is not ruling the world all because Africa does not value knowledge and idea enough. "My people (Africans) perish for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). Africa will move forward only when enough of individual Africans begin to appreciate knowledge and idea enough. Well, this cannot really happen until you value YOUR OWN ideas enough. And what can we learn from Paul Allen and Bill Gates in this regard? Let's go back to how Microsoft started. Conventional history tells us that Microsoft was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That's true when referring to the formal rolling out of the company. But, the real birthplace of the company is Lakeside High School in Seattle, Washington DC, where both Gates and Allen attended. Allen was 10 and Gates 8 when the BASIC programming language was first written at Dartmouth College in 1963. It was still a very new IDEA then. But Bill Gates, reading news about the future possibilities of BASIC in the magazines his dad bought, became very interested in the idea. So, little Gates began to read more and more that he could lay his hands on on the topic of BASIC (Lesson: You can never LEAD if you are lazy to READ). Everyone probably thought little Bill Gates was being childish. But he kept going. Eventually, he was 13 and still in preparatory school when he wrote his first BASIC program. That was 5 years after the very first BASIC program was written at Dartmouth College. How did this happen? The Mothers' Club of his schools PTA just donated a printer for the school (which was very rare then). They also paid for the printer to be connected to a computer owned by General Electric (it was known as buying computer time because only big corporations owned computers then). So, little Bill Gates offered to be allowed to program the GE system in BASIC which was still a new idea. The school allowed him. He was even excused from math classes to enable him do that. He eventually used BASIC to write a game for his fellow students at Lakeside Preparatory School and this made him very famous in the school. The computing fire Gates caught by reading his dad's magazine kept burning and increasing to the point that, when he eventually enrolled into the high school section of Lakeside, everyone identified him as 'the computing kid'. Although Paul Allen was Gates' senior, he liked him for that (while many people kept hating on Gates for 'showing off'). So, Allen befriended Gates. He was beginning to catch Gates' vision. He could do that also because he valued idea. No wonder Allen's 2011 memoir where he told some of these stories was entitled Idea Man: A Memoir By The Cofounder of Microsoft. So, I tell you my fellow African, I mean YOU, what is your overwhelming passion? What ideas occur to you about how to make the life of your community or humanity better? Do not look down on it. Instead, realize that it is your tool to lead the pack. Realize also that the idea worth billions of dollars as that 'flimsy' idea back then in Gates' 10-year-old mind is the reason he is worth $109 billion today. But, far more important than money in his bank, it is the reason computers eventually became available to millions of ordinary people like you and me. That little idea has transformed a generation and keeps doing that. TASKS FOR YOU This is not 'my' post. It is 'our' post. So, let us try to make it as interactive as possible. Therefore, here are tasks I propose to help us stamp this lesson deeper down. 1. Look up the phrase 'imposter syndrome' on Google. It has something to do with this lesson at downright INDIVIDUAL level. Please, kindly share with us how imposter syndrome may have affected you in life? 2. What more inspiration can you add to this lesson? 3. Please, if you support, click here to help stop Microsoft from the proposed end of life (EOL) for Windows 7 scheduled for January 14, 2020. It is a page for those who prefer Windows 7 to Windows 10. It shows clearly why Windows 7 should not be phased out yet and how YOU could help to extend the life of our darling Windows 7. Thank you. |
