The fund at your disposal is small, and will not give a substantial speculative returns. That is why i will advice you to buy TB, or build up your portfolio to at least N5 million.

It is not discouraging, a speculator called Kashif said he has N1 million to speculate in the market. I advices him to invest in his financial education, invest regularly and invest in good company for the long term. He said he does not do long term investment, he wanted to invest for just 3 months.

Anybody that wants his money in 3 months will save himself a lot of stress by investing in TB. At his stage it will be better if he works hard at building his portfolio, rather than think that the stock market is a casino.

manie, A speculator is by no means seeing the stock market as a casino. Gamblers do! There are millions of speculators out there, and they make money.I still do not see anything wrong with not wanting to keep any particular stock beyond three months. All stocks do not move at the same time; timing matters! Being able to buy near valleys and selling near peaks is what am looking at. I don't need the money in January so, I can keep turning the funds there indefinitely if opportunities keep presenting themselves.

There are many investment styles, and none is superior to the other; it is just subjective. I have sub-zero idea about TB BTW undecided.

Thanks again.

I understand your point, but thinking that the stock market is the place to make money in 3 months is the easiest way to go broke. It is possible to make good money in 3 months, that should be an exception and not necessarily the norm or the rule.

You can decide to speculate with a maximum of 40% of your portfolio, but speculating with 60% or more of your portfolio is not good to building sustainable wealth via the stock market.

The market is reacting to the positive news as per the privatisation of the power sector. FO is a core investor in one of the power plants.

Oga Kashif, abeg make we no let our angry grow annoyed... Oga manie forget say everybody pocket no be the same. Abeg no vex.

Oga Manie, not everyone can sacrifice 1 million Naira just to build portfolio na. Some speculators prefer to trade with the money until it gets to N5 million which is not far from possible in the NSE... with faith though...

Bros, if you call speculation gambling then am afraid you are greatly mistaken. In stock, you gamble when you buy junk stocks hoping to make quick gains.

I have held stocks since 2008 till date. Have they appreciated? Pathetic no! Holding junk equity over years does not turn it into gold. Smart 'investing' is not about how long you hold your position, but the yield. What shall it profit you to hold a stock for two years when it has never moved in the last 18 months? It does not make sense to me.

Pull out any fundamentally strong stock and look at its technicals over the last year. You will never find a straight slope.

To answer your question. If I make 30% (or less) on a single stock, what follows depends on what I see on the charts.

You all seem to miss part of my last post. I do not have need for the money in January, but I cant hold any one stock if I buy now, past then, unless I see room. The fund is there indefinitely, with the intention of increasing it even.

Manie it is high time you stop decieving the young investors. I know you, you are one of those money bag investors that have conspired to use your mouth to keep oando from rising so that you can use the opportunity to acquire as much oando as you want before the boom commences. It is only an inexperienced investor who will not be able to decode the fact that oando is about to rocket.

Some of us were fully invested in some fundamentally good stock during this period.

Please ogas in the house. some of us here are new to investing and have not fully grasped the concepts of good fundamentals and the likes. So please can anyone give us a list of 10 or 20 stocks on the NSE with the best fundamentals. This would enable some of us understand things better and serve as a watchlist for our long term investments. Bear in mind that investors like me can only do N5000 to N20,000 averagely on a monthly basis.
Thanks

Let me tell u a story. Earlier dis yr when I made d decision 2 invest my fo when I submited d first mandate my stockbroker called me (he is my gud friend) and gave me several reasons he thinks fo is not d right choice. Thank GOD I didn't change my mind. He even gave list of 40 stocks he tagged fundamental gold mine on d nse vis: fbnh, nestle, nb, uba, gtb, zenit, cadbury, unilever, uacn, pz, cap, flour mills, total, mobil, oando, 7up, julius berger...... Yes these are gud companies with gud past & present but can anyone compare their yr 2 date ROE with that of fo? I ve learnt not 2 pursue a moving train I rather wait at d terminal. oando is loading at de terminal soon to head up not .
