collynzo2: What is wrong with saying spoken English. The guy actually writes the way he speaks. What about your won writings? You wrote "you" instead of your. You think you know, but you wrote "the referring". Explain why you used "the" before referring. What kind of grammar is that? Confisticate was an honest typo error. The whole world knows it is confiscate. By the way, look at my writing again if I actually typed "confisticated" as you claimed. Is your reading glasses dirty, lost or stolen? You better don't dare me when it comes to English Language. I don't think you know the difference between making mistakes when someone fails to proofread their writings and when someone just plainly writing nonsense. |

Anyway, This is not an English class or a discussion about English Language You actually got admission to study in America on a conditional/probationary ground. That says a lot about your academic prowess. What a clown! There is no school that would have offered you unconditional admission with your grammar. I don't think you've ever heard the word proofread in your entire wretched life. What does "and Also" mean in a sentence? By the way, it is not "its" it should be it's or it is. There is difference between its and it's. Your "its" has no place in that writing of yours. You really need to go back to Elementary School and take your Common Entrance Exam again. You should also learn that it is a bad habit to start a sentence with a small letter. You should also learn when to use capital letter in the middle of a sentence. Have you ever learned punctuation in Junior Secondary School? There is nothing like "cant", it is either can't or cannot. You lack basic punctuation lesson in your writings. Where is the punctuation mark at the end of the rubbish you wrote there? Olodo jaku jaku, omo iya eleja! |

ItsModella: The OP/author of that article must be smoking some good weed. Because you really have to be on some cloud 9 to just blatantly deny the fact that Nigeria is grossly unsafe. The same Nigeria where armed robbers operate in broad daylight.so do robberies happen in the night at other places? How many bank robbers in usa rob in the night? |
Re: Is Nigeria Really Unsafe? by Solozzo(m): 5:34am On Apr 26, 2013 |
Rossikk: Bloody lies! Nigeria was far safer in the nineties than now. There is still high rate of armed robbery. Over 400 cases of kidnapping in Edo state alone last year. You claim we neglect northern Nigeria. This is a ploy to minimize the reality. Medical directors of federal hospitals in Benin city now go about with police escort even within hospital premises. You are among those retarding progress in this country by selling mendacity to the govt. It is your type that tells the presidency Nigeria is good so no need to do anymore. 1 Like |

Billyonaire: The greatest Enemies of Nigerians are the pessimist Diasporans that are detached from patriotic common-sense, yet not detached from visiting Nigerian Nairaland. The sickening thing is they can not mix-up with the whites, and yet can not accept the unionism of their home country. They are a lost group of people. I pray for them daily to regain their senses. The optimistic ones are the successful ones who visit home often and have their structures on the sands of time.i always love ur quotes especially when u are neutral |

PHIPEX: I don't get it when some Nigerians make fast comparisms between Nigeria and America; how reasonable is it to compare a first world nation against a nation that is still ranked in the 3rd world category? A reasonable comparism should be Nigeria against the likes of Egypt, South Africa, Mexico and the likes. If you compare Nigeria to Britain and America you'll easily conclude that Nigeria is not safe but if we are reasonable enough to compare the country against her mates like India and the Arab countries then we may appreciate the country better. That's right.! But the issue is do you think Nigeria is a safe place to be, or do you think Nigeria is safer now than in the nineties? |

oyb: https://www.nairaland.com/905126/robbers-attack-luxury-bus-r-a-p-e In December, a friend of mine was robbed at gun-point as early as 6am on his way to work in Lagos. All the passengers on the bus were beaten and robbed. He pinged me on blackberry when he got home because his bb was taken from him. Imagine if that happened in U.K or America. I am sure the robbers would be fished out in minutes. My brother went to a party and was also robbed last year within 100 yards away from police station at gun point. His shirt, watch, shoes, and ring were taking away from him. He said police were 100 yards away from where he was robbed. 1 Like |

No where on earth is safe. Here in Sydney, the evening news is filled with murder, rape and all sorts of violence. Yet we are still here, just for one reason- the system is working! If we had a working system in Nigeria, then I can assure you that Nigerians will rush home and help build our fatherland. 6 Likes |

Safe........and people are getting robbed, killed, kidnaped and harassed daily. You must have another Nigeria you are referring to! |

Those two countries have a relatively working judiciary compared to the institutional desert we have in Nigeria. If you care, go to Sa or Egypt, you wont find officials harassing you at the airport and non official person eager also to take you out. 1 Like |

collynzo2: Most Nigerians would wish they have their own guns, but the police and affordability is an issue. Gun ownership in the United States of America is more of a cultural thing than a real need. It is a carry over of the civil war ang gangster days in america. But look at the amount of protector gates , bars and locks we install in our homes, the number of dangerous illegal weapons in the country. We now use soldiers at checkpoints, patrol vehicles and escorts for container delivery trucks. We need no one to tell us the degree of insecurity. The OP claims Nigeria is safer now than in the nineties. He has found it hard to convince the forum here. Whenever a foreign based NL writes about naija insecurity issues he screams it's because he has been away. Many living in Nigeria had relayed their experiences in recent timescale. 1 Like |

Unlike Afghanistan and Mexico where the dangers of every day life are obvious to all, the mortal perils in Nigeria very often lie hidden in plain sight. Those desolate Nigerian highways that only the foolhardy travel at night have, for many, proved to be the Highway to Hell, whose portal opens when highway robbery gangs trap cars with logs accross the road, then kill all who try to flee, while kidnapping others for ransom or ritual sacrifice, as the mood takes them. Those gridlock traffic jams in Lagos may seem relatively safe at first glance, but that illusion is dispelled with the tap of a big knife on the wound-up windows of an immobilized vehicle, signalling that a robbery, a stabbing or a shooting is about to be perpetrated, while motorists in adjascent cars try their best to ignore the fate of the selected victim, thankful that they have been spared on that day at least. That upscale hotel may seem like a nice safe place to spend the night, but that illusion is often shattered by the staccato report of gunfire in the night, signalling that a room-to-room hotel invasion by bandits is in progress, during which loss of life and greivous injury are commonplace, as that room-service with a difference progresses from one suite to the next, with all exits guarded to prevent escape. Even the poor are not spared in Nigeria, for that innocent looking apple, or plastic bag of "pure water", that they buy to quench thirst at the motor-park, may in fact have been cleverly laced with dangerous levels of animal tranquillizer, courtesy of pick-pocket gangs who board buses, and wait patiently for their apple-eating victims to lapse into unconsciousness or an irreversible coma, before rummaging through their pockets and hand-luggage for loose change, and then disembarking to leave their victims to die or sleep on for hours. Yes ir indeed. Nigeria offers death and abduction without notice, making it a nation comprising the quick and the dead, with precious few in between. 1 Like |
