First, they are security threat, and at thesame time they are strategically positioned and could play a decisive role in crime prevention. Are these statements not contradictory? Little clarification and elucidation please.

the security threat statement really baffled me because i know trade fair complex is one of the safest place to do business in lagos. it's amazing to also know that there are no touts or urchins in Trade fair market unlike other markets like ladipo. so where's the security threat coming from?

Whosoever is d MOD of this section, when u start ur banning, check the yoruba posters dat started insulting igbos and dont do selective banning, else leave this thread lets iron it out. This is about ASPAMDA MARKET AND LASG but yorubas have tribaised and derail it from page 1.

Dat said, lets get down to d issue at hand.

y would LASG want to collect tax directly from traders who use to pay tax to Fed govt and now the property has been sold to private owner is it not wise that the same tax hungry LASG go and negotiate with the owner? y must they pokenose into every tax matter that have to do with markets? This same people dat caused the unrest that culminated into d political crisis of the 60s have started again. they knocked down Tejuosho mkt , It was Ladipo, they are eyeing computer village, they sealed orji kalu's house and re-opend it when it dawn on them they cant fyt him, now its ASPAMDA. Alaba is on their plan. when this war will start lets keep record of how it started. If u cant compete hang urself and stop using instrument of govt to orchestrate ethnic agenda filled with jealousy. U will pass BBA b4 u get to ASPAMDA all in the same market, they jumped BBA and land at ASPAMDA. y didnt they start frm BBA? BABA OLA lazy tradition cannot work in igbo dorminated market. y not put ur so called tax collector in hausa cattle market or china town market?

THE dispute between Federal Government and Lagos authorities over the ownership and control of land properties, formerly used as offices for ministries and parastatals in the metropolis may be far from over as the state last week demanded the return of landed assets proposed for conversion into commercial uses to their original owners.

The state hinged it’s argument on the fact that it was acquired for public uses and since the properties are no longer for that purpose, the Federal Government should deem it necessary to return such to the families.

Secondly, the Land Use Act vested all land to the states.

Governor Babatunde Fashola made the demand during the visit of the Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development to his office, stressed that present practice of Federal Government controlling landed properties was a carry over of the military regime’s practice and that the federal government was not truly practicing the federalism.

He listed places like Ijora, Trade Fair, and Ikoyi as cases in point, stated that it is unfair to take land from indigenous families use it and not return it back as sometimes some of the lands are not compensated for.

Fashola further revealed that the state government had identified over 100 abandoned Federal properties which had become slums, called on the Federal government to deepen the mortgage sector by reducing the interest rate to single digits like had been done in Lagos as well as leverage on idle funds to subsidise the mortgage sector.  This strategy, he further added would increase home ownership for the low income earners as well boost the economy, create jobs and reduce crime rate.

Tell your ASPAMDA guys they will be shut out of Trade Fair and theres nothing constitution or FG can do to save them. They need to start recognizing that the Constitution had lied to them all along. The law is wjat they must obey. Fashola is your father and he is the law. Do that or get ready to be dealt with, you are sitting on concessioned private property not FG property. Better take some snuff and come to your senses.

Seriousbusiness:

Keep quiet ,so because FG owns festac the resident should not pay there tenanment rate to the LG?
I stay in festac 3rd avenue and when ve u seen the FG undergoing any rehabilitation on the roads, houses, including security.
Abeg let s try to be realistic when arguing.
Nobody is chasing anybody away, but its important will abide by the law and obey with the GoVt where ever we re.

Yes,they should abide by the laws but don't throw insults at them.....tell me how a commissioner could term legitimate business men as a security threat because of minor disagreement on tax payment which ordinarily could be resolved through a court process if they claim to be democrats and progressives.
