Hello house, I just got a 2003 model Mercedes Benz C240. I'ts my first time of using a Mercedes. I've not even started driving it yet. Please what engine oil grade do I use and also which brands are available around because i intend to change the oil and other things before i commence driving. My location is Jos, Plateau.

congrats to people who have gotten offer letters. I have two concubines in my branch who were interviewed for enquiry officer role and they have done their medicals on July 2nd. I pray they get their own letters soon.

and to those waiting at one stage or the other. keeping your hope alive is the key. success will definitely end our stories.

The 2.1m quoted, was it coming from the usa and was it high mileage? I'm also tryna get one for myself a 525 to be precise but my brother is severely scaring the shiiit out of me. And how much did you eventually get the 2005 c230?

The 2.1m is landing cost from Germany, excluding clearing. It scared me away. I'm getting a 2005 c240 from Cotonou for 1.7m including clearing and delivery to jos.

some of Stanbic contract staff who wrote d exam and passed the interview had been sent to a specific clinic for medicals. I guess fresh applicants should get theirs any moment from now. just be hopeful

I've said this before. Existing NFTEs are given priority, then new applicants are considered afterwards. It may be the reason for delays in some people's processing. But truth is theres alot of vacancies allover waiting to be filled but not everyone will be taken. The bank carefully selects the best hands that can and will add value to it and themselves. Buh can U explain this; why still conduct test when they are yet to sort out the ones on their hands?

This is my take; for them to still be conducting test while they have a lot of peeps still waiting for their response after interview/exco can mean two things...

1. There have more vacancy to be filled compared to D successful peeps @ D test n interview...
Buh D counter-question is; why not get back to them if they are successful so they @least know they are successful? 

2. They have the habit of not contacting unsuccessful applicant after D test n interview, cos I could remember during my test @ Q n Q Place, D guy said if U dont get a response after 3days mean U are unsuccessful...

If however, D latter is D case I will say they suck @ conducting recruitment...

This recruitment is done on a zonal/regional basis. That's why the applicant quotes his preferred role and location when sending his application. I wouldn't know why some don't get the regret messages but one has to keep an open mind and follow the process to the end. Its no do or die thing, I always say though its not easy to be kept in the dark. One just needs to be encouraged even though one doesn't make it. Sad truth is that not everyone will get the job. So why would one be bitter over what he doesn't have control over?

Trust me if there's no present vacancy,they won't call for Medicals and after Medicals there are always approvals,in other places av worked I waited for 1month minimum oh,some other guys waited for like 8months.When you have gone for Medicals,they open a file for you and call on a file when there's a vacant position & so on.
So I think maybe they wanna clear those unattended files before sending people for Medicals

Thank you for this clarification. I waited for 4mths when I joined a bank in 2006. I waited another 2mths @least before I joined Stanbic. Once you have passed all the tests they'll definitely employ you cos if there's no vacancy for you they wont pay for your medicals. One just have to be patient while keeping his hope much alive. it's the encouragement I try to give here.

The thing is I have no experience as I just passed out of NYSC recently, and from what I have seen, at interview stage, they ask for pay slip , resignation letter e.t.c what would be my fate at that point ?

Also anyone with idea as to this matter, I would appreciate your input.

More so, is it likely that the recruitment process will be faster than usual since a branch where there is a need has specifically been identified? (Also looking like there is real urgency since the branch is the one interviewing in this case).

Sure the exco chat is compulsory for all experienced hires. I don't know of fresh graduates. Yes you may just have been redirected to point of need.

To the case of rejection after medicals, I inquired from the guy handling our recruitment and he told me that they proceed with 2 to 3 candidates for my role and the final decision is taken by the main ResourcingUNit. What 18Wheeler said is far from the truth on some sickness and not revealing. wish u d best and hope you clinch the job.

The resourcing unit is who sends you to take medical test after all other tests/interveiws have confirmed you are eligible for the role. Why would the bank spend money to test your medical fitness if they aren't ready to take you judging from your intellectual capabilities certified by those who tested and confirmed them prior to the medicals. By taking the medical test it means all other qualities required of you have been found to be satisfactory that's why its the final stage of the process. The worst they will do after medicals is to offer you another role or location if the one you applied for is taken.
I have an experience though not with Stanbic. We went for medicals with a friend who had diabetis that runs in his family. After the test I got the job but he didn't. It was then that he told me the possible reason that he didn't get the job. It took us 5months to get to the medicals stage. He went back to work in his family's company and he's doing well. At medicals stage its as good as you've got the job. Not ruling out other factors I may not be aware of though.

Though I have not seen the report and that of last year for comparison, I believe we have every reason to be positive as they will need people to generate new businesses to turn around the situation. Analysis of the trend may have shown the management that the fortunes of the bank is nosediving and there is urgent need to reverse same. Afterall they have a good brand to capitalize on and other sister companies of the group are leaders in their respective sectors. No wonder they are particular about Business and Personal bankers. There is even a new advert for Business and Personal Bankers of between 2-5 years banking experience. And when these businesses are generated they will need enquiries officers, asset custodians and Head, Service Support etc to attend to them.

In effect, let's all be positive as this recruitment may be a strategic plan by the bank to turn around the fortunes of the bank.

True that. The whole industry is stressed now, infact, the economy is suffering but with the right people and strategy we will make it through. Things are beginning to ease now and there are still opportunities in the midst of crises and its who taps into those slim chances that will keep head above the stormy waters. The recruitment is neccesary because short staffing is one factor that can count against the organisation in the face of competition in the market. But we have to source the right people that will contribute positively to business hence the need for more hands and the right ones too. The fact that some will be laid off doesn't mean that others who will bring value should not be onboarded. Its the reality of the business environment. Nothing to doubt unless you don't have something to add value to the bottomline.

I got my interview invite today for the position of businss banker. I wrote my test on 5th june. BTW, was this a co-incidence or what! This morning, I sent a mail to @18wheeler to help me enquire about my status. I got no response from him but the interview mail came in this evening. The interview is to hold @ a branch on the mainland, with two people listed as contact persons (I suppose these are HR persons rather than the interviewers-to-be). The mail says 'Stanbic IBTC invites you for an interview'. Now, what baffles me is if this will also include exco chat, considering that it's holding @ a branch. Also, since interviews usually hold at the head office, how likely is it that this same branch where I'll be interviewing is where I will resume if given the offer? House, your contribution is needed, please.

If it's in a branch. then its likely not exco chat and you may end up in the branch. is it not OK with you? then request for a relocation to your preferred location though I doubt it will be granted. your preferred location may have no vacancy so you are considered for another. Goodluck in your interview.

Sure it can happen but very rarely. The medical tests are for a reason and going by the banks standard people can fail. Some persons have severe medical conditions that can affect productivity and they are either unaware or will refuse to reveal. But you shouldn't think of negative outcome all the time.
