I remember before I joined nairaland, any time I did a Google search, 70% of the results I got would be from nairaland links.

Someone may make 5mil today and buys a ride worth of that amount the next day. People will think he has 20 mil not knowing he bought the ride with all the money he has made.

Bottom line: that Linda or any other person who loves to show off and tells the world whenever they acquire a new thing doesn't make Seun who doesn't like such publicity a low income earner.

Women make more small purchases and men make more large purchases. When it comes to online shopping, stats for Women reign supreme (well shopping in general). Men will make large purchases, a lot more often for them selves than for women, but everything from maintaining a house, buying dailies for kids, buying dailies for the spouse and self, etc is handled by women. If you go to a market you'll think it's a women's convention and it's like that for a reason. Traditionally women are the money managers and spenders. If i was advertising Bonvita i would aim for women because they will buy it for their children who will consume it faster. Yes men can do the shopping but that's less common than with women in our society. If the have kids odds are the mother shops for them even if the man provides all or a portion of the money.


In the US, if you go to a mall there will be and 30% allocation for men's stores and the rest will be women's goods and products.

Last week, I had a meeting at Ikoyi Club, with Director - Africa of a top platform, who's a UK-based Nigerian on 2-week market research visit to Nigeria.

DURING our discussions which bordered on penetrating local markets in Nigeria, our discussion spiraled to Nairaland and I told him I was very active on NL and in fact cut my internet teeth on NL. He told me he's been researching NL for 6 years! That the owner is elusive. I said I will try to introduce him to him, but doubt they would be able to meet offline - the option the guy preferred.

No one is asking Seun to be ubiquitous, but I still think he needs to show up in the public once in a while. For example, he was invited to Aso Rock as one of the "Top 100 Nigerian Youths" selected by The Future Awards organisers. He didn't show up.

I'm sure he gets interview invites from TV and Radio stations from time to time, he's never been on any to discuss the success of his startup.

I think Seun needs a corporate face.

No comparison, linda operates a blog and Nairaland is a forum.
Linda has total control on posts on her blog, anyone can create a topic on nairaland.

Seun thinks of himself as a geek but I think he's more of a nerd.

He knows what to do to make more money through ads but he seems content with the current status.

I think Seun should commercialise nairaland, hire very good mods and pay them well. Topics should be moderated before being exposed.

Also, the hired mods should source for news, linda is quite good with breaking news, nairaland should ensure that it's always the first source of info.

The plus with nairaland is because it has so many sections and pages - and most people view it more than once a day. Also, for every comment you make, that's an extra page view to nairaland. And for every click on the different section, sub-section, and page - that's a page view.

So, the total number of people who view nairaland a day might just be 30,000, but the activities, based on clicks, are what make up the page views. A blog doesn't have that luxury.

Nairaland doesn't have a face. He compared Stella Dimok to Linda. He said how many times do you see Stella in Public? Shes based in Germany and so no face. Same with Nairaland. No one knows whos behind it. He said Great organisations always have a face. A CEO out there in the public eyes. He then gave examples like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and so many others. They're out there in the public eye. That he said does not just attract customers but big time investors. Linda's blog on the other hand contains trendy and fashionable topics that attracts upscale folks and wealthy readers. Advertisers he says love such a medium.

2. Unless Linda Ikeji shows her account statement and Seun does same, we cannot for sure say who makes more. We can only speculate based on those variables we think we know. The same way Forbes Magazine lists the wealthiest individuals in the world and yet omits Vlamidir Putin with an estimated worth of $75 billion.

3. Well, in Nigeria..it pays to make a lot of noise. The more noise, the more people attach values to a product no matter how shallow it may be. Be it Linda or our politicians, the empty barrels always make the loudest noise. Linda is a "shakara" babe, that's all. Sometimes, people patronize Linda in anticipation of quid pro quo..the same way men pay strippers hoping for a quickie only to be disappointed that lap dances aint worth they are made out to be. In either case, there is no refund after payment. And if you have seen Stella Dimoko, you will agree with me that she is better off being on the background. She sure is not very easy on the eyes like Linda.
