PoliticsRe: Judge Lambasts Dasuki’s Lawyer, Accuses Him Of Employing Delay Tactics by 1freshdude: 10:46am On Jun 07, 2016
MadamExcellency:
Both of us want speedy execution of Justice. Either way, any delay by the Federal Government should be treated in the same way as that from Daudu. Anything short of this, is partiality and miscarriage of Justice.

Secondly, from the tune and body language of this Judge, I doubt if Dasuki will get justice because I can smell partiality.

Let me tell you what I meant by Justice for Dasuki. If Dasuki can prove without doubt that he was authorized to disburse the funds by President Jonathan or after receiving delivery notes from Military establishment for purchases and contracts executed then he is innocent provided he didn't enrich himself on the process.

The Judge should be seen neutral and ensure he puts his temperament under check during proceedings.
Justice is SHOOTING Dasuki at point blank range! Do you Understand? Stop using Justice in your sentences!
Dasuki was the FUCKING NSA for christsake, he was working for Nigeria not GEJ...there is no way he is not culpable, he can only have accomplishes, he can't pass no bulk!

As much as Justice demands speedy execution, I have outgrown sentimentalism hence Justice is what should be served and seen to be delivered without dancing towards either side of the divide.

On three separate occasions, DSS has failed to bring Dasuki to court which elicited adjournment yet the Judge never engaged in shouting matches with counsels representing the FG. Now pray tell me who is delaying the trial between FG and Dasuki?
Non sentimental my foot. Apparently you don't know what Justice entails. Dasuki and co sabotage the state by their actions, cost Nigerian quantum lose of lives and property and you sit in your rickety chair in your house without light and type about Justice? You know nothing about Justice!

look at how a judge is vitupirating. The only reason why the federal govt is trying this case in different court is to get conflicting judgement and create confusion. If not I don't see the reason why three different court would precide on the same case.

And for this judge it is obvious that dasuki cannot get a fair trial from him. Even danladi umar didn't make noise this way. This man isn't for to be a judge
It cost nothing to shut your mouth or refrain from commenting when the topic is out of your depth. Learned counsels in court understand the Judges position. Why didn't the counsel to Dasuki give a tenable reason to move his motion or are you numbskulls smarter than him.
Supposedly educated people act very stupidly in Nigeria, rushing to make stupid conclusions on areas outside their competence.

Buhari as PTF chairman spent 80% of PTF money doing up northern roads. Northerners ruled Nigeria for 44yrs and you expect their roads to be substandard?

Yeah thats the difference between a Northerner and a Southerner, they deliver projects in there constituencies when they get the chance. Pray what did Orubebe, Gej and the legion of Southerners in this last admin do for their region by the virtue of their office?
PoliticsRe: Why Are Northern Highways Better Than Southern Ones? by 1freshdude:
I can relate with what the OP is saying and I tell you from experience that the southern elites in most cases obstruct development or quality amenities allocated to them for selfish short lived gains.
The excuse that the reason facilities are better up North is because the North have ruled longer than other regions doesnt hold water. Federal character entails that all regions are represented at the center at every point in time. So if your representatives care about you then there ought be facilities on ground at least in the areas/sectors occupied previously or presently by a southerner in the south.

A guy was contracted by the government to upgrade and digitize a community secondary school in a remote community in Rivers state. The contract was to the tune of approximately 22 million naira, so you can imagine what that could do for a village school. The contract was from Abuja (Federal) so the contractor of Hausa descent, purchased the needed items (computers and electronic gadgets) and came down to Port Harcourt to execute the contract. He paid a ferry (as you need to cross a river to get to this community) and his gadgets where ferried across to the community. On getting to the community with his technicians to start installation, a group of boys accosted his team and apprehended him and seized his consignment. He explained to them what he was about to do and that the community was to be better off for it but they would not listen and insisted that he follows them to their rulers place. He went with them to see their Chief with the expectation that he would be reasonable and happy about what they have come to do. The Chief flared when they got to his house, he said why would the contractor be an Hausa man? ''so you collect money for contract and use only a quarter to execute the contract he said, go bring the contract paper''. All his explanations that all was well and that the contract is been executed with quality materials fell on deaf ear. When the contractor saw that those guys were not willing to release the gadgets, he pleaded with them that the contract paper was in his hotel room and that he would go get it.
The contractor a newbie in the game did not really understand their rationale and anger towards him, he thought maybe the reason they act like this is because of the Wururu attitudes of most Nigerian contractors, may be they really care that I do a good work?
The contractor picked the contract letter from his hotel room and was about returning to the community when a second thought crossed his mind. He went to a business center and reduced the figure on the contract and then rushed back to the community with the altered document.
The new document carried 15 million naira. The Chief on seeing the contract letter said he should go and bring the 15 million and forget the project, to which the contractor replied that only part of the money has been paid, and the balance was subject to the project completion and certification by the community. He also said that he had spent the initial funds to purchase the gadgets in their custody and there will be no way to come by 15 million naira. After much rigmarole the Chief said he should go and raise 7 million naira which he agreed to, but the contractors concern was on the certification and signing of his papers by the community authorities so that he could get his balance and also how to raise the 7 million that they asked for. The Chief replied that he should pay the money and retrieve it by selling the gadgets, he also added that signing his papers is a none issue and that he would get the appropriate guys to sign the paper.
They arranged some of the gadgets and the Chief and community people took pictures in turns and made it seem like the gadgets had been fitted in the schools. The guys completion papers was signed afterwards and all the gadgets were released to him.
The Chief followed him to PH city with 4 boys to collect the money. He went to his bank, withdrew 7 million naira and gave to the Chief.
He went to Ogbunabali in PH afterwards and sold the gadgets for some discount. He made a fortune from this contract, but he was really worried about the attitudes of the southern elders...he would still have made profit if he had executed the contract.

The contractor said he executed contracts to upgrade, digitize schools in different communities in the North without problems or this kind of saboteurish behavior. So next time you see a good infrastructure in the North its because their ''village Chief'' did not demand for half the contract money instead of the project.

There are a million and one cases like this in PH for instance. Community people did not allow Amaechi to rehabilitate some terrible roads in like ''pure water Rumuodara area'' for instance, till he paid them some outrageous amount of money which he refused to pay. Eze gbaka gbaka wanted some amount of money before the road along Woji would be constructed; infact work started on that road not long after he died.
Alams despite looting millions of pounds from his people died in a hospital in PH.. the point is why couldnt he build a state of the art hospital close to himself (in Bayelsa) with a fraction of his loot?
So before you blame the Northerners for all your woes, be aware that you (Southerners) are your own enemies. Southerners are very selfish and suffer from temporal myopia, their clarity decreases with distance (they dont see beyond their nose) and would sabotage for immediate gains the infrastructures on which the quality of their lives depends on.

Politics#Dasuki Gate: CJ Gives Justice Okon Abang Go Ahead On Metuhs Case. by 1freshdude(op): 10:33pm On Apr 08, 2016
CJ Dismisses Metuh’s Petition, Asks Judge To Continue.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused the application of the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, asking the trial judge, Okon Abang, to discontinue with the matter over perceived bias.
Mr. Metuh is facing a seven-count charge of fraud.
The court had on March 24 adjourned the matter to April 8 for ruling on three applications.
Mr. Abang had on that day stated that the court would determine whether he (Mr. Abang) should continue as the trial judge. He also said the court would entertain the second petition, seeking the case to be set aside pending the determination of a related petition at the Court of Appeal and the third application regarding an adjournment sought by Mr. Metuh’s lead counsel, Onyeachi Ikpeazu.
But on arrival in court on Friday, the second defendant, Destra Investment Ltd, was represented by a new counsel, Tochukwu Onwuibufo, who prayed the court to adjourn the matter to allow him acquaint himself with the case. But Mr. Abang held that the court could not be led to adjourn because the second defendant, Destra Investment Company, “elected” not to be given fair hearing.
Mr. Abang ruled that during the previous sitting, Destra was represented by Emeka Etiaba and that he (Mr. Etiaba) was in court on Friday.
Foramfera
In view of this, the judge ruled that the second defendant could not force an adjournment based on a perceived lack of fair hearing.
Responding, Mr. Etiaba said it should be put on record that he was not allowed to air his view before the court’s March 24 ruling. He also said the crux of their application was not just that Mr. Abang was a classmate of the first defendant, but that he claimed not to have known him (Mr. Metuh).
Mr. Etiaba said it had been established that Mr. Abang met Mr. Metuh at several places and that the former even attended an award ceremony held in honour of the latter. Mr. Etiaba therefore submitted that recent development gave room for a perceived bias.
The trial judge then went through his record to determine whether any previous record of Mr. Etiaba’s consent was taken before the previous ruling.
Being unable to find such a record, Mr. Abang made a judicial notice of Mr. Etiaba’s notice.
Mr. Etiaba represented the first defendant, Mr. Metuh, in Friday’s sitting. In his argument, the prosecution counsel, Sylvanus Tahir, said there was no basis upon which any reasonable mind will regard the trial as biased. He therefore prayed the court to dismiss the application. Ruling on the matter, Mr. Abang said he had carefully considered the application by Mr. Metuh and the various grounds on which the application was made.
Mr. Abang ruled that there was no evidence that the court had been biased. He added that the Chief Judge had indicated that he was satisfied with his explanation regarding the petition, adding that the record of the statement of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court formed part of the court’s record.
The trial judge therefore ruled that the application seeking his discontinuation with the matter lacked merit and was therefore dismissed.

Meanwhile Justice Abang ordered that Metuh must begin his defence on Monday, April 11th. Justice Abang’s position is exactly what the law prescribed, and Metuh must be worried about the judge’s textbook sticking to the law.

Under the new Administration of Criminal Justice Act (2015), Metuh and his firm are only entitled to five requests for adjournment. That’s what Section 396(5) of the Act prescribes. The judge told Metuh that already he has exhausted the five opportunities available to him.

Since the prosecution closed its case, the judge recalled that the matter had been adjourned on February 4, 9, March 9, 17 and 24, all at the instance of the defendants. But the judge subsequently decided to ‎adjourn the case “at the instance of the court” to enable him to attend to other cases on the list.

“The company, whose subsidiaries include BGL Capital, BGL Private Equity, BGL Security and BGL Asset Management, allegedly lured 50 investors from across the country into subscribing to the company’s shares, promising them options of liquidity and exit within two years.”

It was stated that the investors were not able to liquidate their assets contrary to the promise made to them and that an alleged promise that BGL would be listed on the Securities and Exchange Commission two years after the offer in 2008 was not fulfilled"

I hope these 50 investors read the fine print on their contracts, before going to court. You invested in an option trade with a 24 months exit. Every trade comes with its risk, stop crying and deal with it.. The market has two sides, up or down. When you lose money like many did between 2006-2010, take it in stride and move on. Many have lost almost N4 trillion in last 120 days, who should they sue undecided undecided
Though this post is from months back, it's a very disappointing one regardless. You should make logical deductions even if you know little or nothing about Investment Banking. The implication of your post is that Mr Okumagba is been witch hunted by SEC, now why would SEC witch hunt him if he has done nothing wrong?
BGL is a typical fraudulent Nigerian Investment Banks were MD's do what they like with Investors money, but the major undoing of BGL was stealing from the rich. It's not News that BGL don't do transactions in thousands, there cheapest product Start from about 7million or there about. Every player in the industry is surprised that it took this long For their Bubble to bust. Petitons upon petitions dating from about 4years back are Gathering dust in SEC Office. Okumgba and his likes need to be jailed for a long time to serve as deterents to all.
And your advise to the 50 Investors is laughable. If you have ever met a Billionaire you will agree with me that they are not rich by accident, regardless of how they made their money and besides, there a lot of other cases against BGL asides this. I personally pursued through the right channels, including Petitons to Investment Tribunal for 2 years, 3 cases valued at over 98million naira for my clients without success. Okumagba was protected by the powers that be.
So be sure that all your concerns have been taken care of before this public incidence.

People like Prof Sagah and Oby ekweseli is the reason why young ppl don't respect old pple anymore, how will u insult students dat way and u expect them to do differently.Sagay said that they are not hear to make students clap,so they are there to force there views down the throat of the students.Oby said the students are on another level of corruption. That means they are not worthy of having an opinion in the matter of discussion, indirectly shouting them down.Instead of coming up with superior argument they are verbally abusing the student, instead of coming up with point to counter what the other speaker made, and later you see them advocating for child right(Bring back our girls).Bunch of hypocrites.
The level of crudeness and corruption among students is alarming and worst of all they know nothing.
