PoliticsRe: Restructuring Will Spell Doom For Nigeria - Wakili by 1freshdude: 2:09pm On Aug 09, 2016
Adminisher:
Nigeria is not restructuring. It is wasteful, anarchic and will destabilise the whole of Africa. It will make radical Islam very powerful and they will deep their Koran in the Atlantic.

It is selfish politicians and tribalistic and unexposed youths who are fanning the flames of restructuring for nothing.

Everything that is currently wrong with Nigeria can be corrected by suing the FG to the Supreme Court for judicial interpretation - from quota system to JAMB cut-off, to states power. Other things can be corrected by Constitutional Amendments arising from motions and Bill's in the National Assembly
This post shows that you are either been mischievous, naive or a very small child! This discuss is certainly above you.

Was it under Gej that Buratai bought 2 houses in Dubai ? Is it under GEJ that we are going to spend over N29bn on forex subsidy to travel to Mecca (or even Jerusalem )?
The truth is that Buhari has not fought the corruption he said he will fight. As for Gej, I remember clearly when Amaechi and co opposed the ECA savings. So the blame is a shared responsibility. Buhari is an economic disaster. QED.
You can add these names to the long list of state enemies...just place them below GEJ (the proponent of the goat and yam theory)

you speak the greatest of truths!! The scariest thing about this country are the youths. They are the ones with the most to lose, the ones with the greatest power(votes) yet the ones most docile and seemingly content with the rot. I guess many of them know no better! Most of the old people you complain about today were activists in their youth, they fought for independence. Student activism in those days was about societal injustice, today it's about crowd for hire!
Its a pity...they dont know what life could be like...they devote their time to things that are not important...just look at the proliferation of churches and mosques everywhere and the teeming number of youths who are in there servitude, with just a fraction gainfully employed? and yet they cannot ask themselves questions? Its crazy I mean...people are supposed to be religious when they are aged and about to die not when they are brimming with strength and Ideas...very appalling the situation in Nigeria.

then another bout of waiting again
Looks like we want to wait all our lives, thats if Nigerians, the youths especially are comfortable with complaining online, engaging in nefarious activities and leaving off alms to survive. But if they want to know what it feels like to really live then they have to push for a structure change and a total overall of the current constitutions. One of the pitfalls of reform is preserving the avenues for exploitation that past leaders and dictators exploited...There is need for a structural change and there is no better time than now. The youths must see to this though, for left to your leaders, they want one Nigeria where there privileges are guaranteed!

Like I said "Now if local airlines refuse to rake advantage of the opportunity...that's a different matter"
Do you sincerely think that there are local operators in Nigeria even capable of cleaning their backside properly, talk more of efficiently running an aviation industry successfully?

Its a rhetoric question bro...we all know the answer. Cheers!

There is no one capsule solution, our economy is in a round box presently. And honestly speaking this government is not the casual agent, they just worsened the situation. We suffer from temporal myopia as a country and have consistently lived in the present, damning the future in our folly. We will pay for it with sweat and blood...no two ways.

I laugh at your last remark....2 years more to go...Let me ask and then what happens?

You are the one who should think. if there are 2 bus companies in the motor park each with 5 buses and one says he is not doing transport business anymore and withdraws his buses, what does that mean for the second transport company?

Let me help you it means the 2nd companynow has more passengers to himself, what does that mean? it means he can buy more buses, what does that mean? it means he can employ the drivers that were laid off by the 1st company. Because he is now operating 10 buses instead of 5, he can get his busses cheaper next time he want to replace his fleet because he will get bigger discounts, it means he can buy spare parts cheaper because he is buying in bulk.

You are the one who should use your brain!!!!! The man in america who wants to come to nigeria is not going to say i'm not going to Nigeria because american airlines are no longer travelling, instead he will be forced to take Arik, what does this mean? it means Arik is earning more forex than it would otherwise earn, it means Arik is more profitable because it's planes will be full. More profits for Arik means more investment and expansion. If Arik takes over these 14 countries it means Arik will need more planes, more discounts more profits, more jobs.

Furthermore you don't seem to understand that all ticket sales in Nigeria by foreign airlines are remmited back home to the home country of the airline. How many jobs is Iberaia, anerican or any of these companies providing in Nigeria for the amount of forex they are taking out? These airlines repartriate $1.5Billion in ticket sales every year!!!! Demand for forex is one of the reasons why the naira is weakening, the fewer the companies that demand forex the better for the naira. So I would rather airlines that are bringing in forex (local airlines) than airlines that by definition will always repartriate any sales they make here.

Now if local airlines refuse to rake advantage of the opportunity...that's a different matter but I beleive Nigerians should welcom their exit, they are fundamentally parasitic to the economy because they invest nothing here as evidenced by the fact that as soon as things detteriorate they back their bags and leave!!! They have no skin in the game!!!

Use your brain!!!!
Though you are making sense bro, but its not as simple as you put it because the sector you talk about is capital intensive and above all the concern for safety is paramount. Nigerian operators are notorious for not adhering to caution and having a large number of inefficient staffs. The implication of this salient points is that the safety standards will be very low and the cost of flying will go up. In other words people will be worse off as the inefficiencies of airline operators will be transferred to consumers, and planes will be dropping off the sky regularly.
One of the advantages of international trade is that it puts corporation on their toes, ensures that resources are efficiently used and breeds efficient staffs because of the obvious competition and jostle for customers . Your argument that high manpower development opportunity is lacking is in order, and can be characterized as a market failure. Policy interventions (government) can correct this short comings (Its very unlikely that a UK trained Nigerian pilot will not get a job with say British airways if the opportunity exists). Foreigners doubt our certificates for the same reasons people with means go abroad to get medical attention when there are numerous doctors in the country. So the outcome of this case may not be as you fathom. And for jobs...its cheaper for Foreign firms to staff locally and will if they can find personnel's with certification from credible institutions after all they are in pursuit of profit.
If it were a different sector like clothes or shoe making (less sophisticated and capital intensive) then your analogy will be apt.

While Vodutive comment is objective and specific to the article, majority of the other comments are based on emotions, scorn and resentment that people feel towards the present administration because of the hardship brought about by Buharinomics.
Buhari is performing far lower than we expected...we didnt expect him to transform Nigeria to Japan because he lacked economic skills, but regardless he could have gotten a few good hand to help him save whats was left of the close to dead economy handed over to him by the Fortunato especially in this perilous time of oil glut. Its really unfortunate. We really would not have voted for this man but Ineffectual Buffoon left us with no option. It has become clear now that help is not going to come from anywhere but within, I doubt that Nigerians are tired, really hungry or suffering (I think they can still manage) because when they can no longer manage, the world will know. For the time been we must enjoy the fruits of our cowardice and nonchalance....the mouse must bell the cats if they want peace as nobody will do it for them!

Taking kids to church is entirely different from forcing non-christians to partake in christian prayers in schools.

If teaching our kids about Adam & Eve is violation, what do we call the teachings of evolution and science? Both teachings were imported to a country like Nigeria. In fact, given our babies food to eat is violation., we shouldn't give a day old baby milk when he has the choice to select pounded yam and ewedu.
You are a joker! When you give birth or if you have already, make sure your kids don't learn sciences, make them attend all the religious lessons you can find, so that their future will be very bright. And put this your small reasoning away for a second and listen. The position or proposition of this law is to let children grow to a certain age before deciding on what they should believe in or if they should believe anything at all from there experiences. If religion or what ever you worship is effective or beneficial why impose it on people? Try work on your reasoning or you go dey carry Pooh steady!

You just dey run around Nairaland dey twist facts. Ogar did not say the certificate was forged, his case was based on ikpeazu's acknowledgement that all documents submitted to INEC was authentic and verified by him. There's always a clause in INEC form for that. This is where the abuja high court based it's judgement and that is why Abia Board of internal revenue was not invited to witness, because ikpeazu's legal team had already acknowledged that their was error in the tax document. Ogah'd legal team is far intelligent, they didn't sue for forgery.

We all know that Owerri high court judgement was staged. Ogah has been on this case since Dec 2014, a year and 7 months was taken b4 judgement was delivered. Nwosu's case was all a script, written, filed and delivered within 2 working days; the fastest in the history of this country.

Anyway, it is only an appellate court that can over-rule the federal high court's decision.

Wetin concern me self, make una carry una wahala dey go make me find wetin I go chop.

You cannot unilaterally put a contract in abeyance because you have now come to see a clause in it as infringing on your rights. Unilateral discontinuance is only possible in cases of force majeure, which is not applicable here. If the student entered into the contract knowing that he would not abide by the terms, then he is not only mischievous but equally culpable of a breach.
The law does not prohibit guests from passing the night with their hosts, which is why I mentioned rules and ordinances as agreed upon by property owner and would be occupants.
In other words the clause that controls the sex of your guest in this context is illegal?
If so is the Landlord trying to enforce illegality? Or doesn't that premise void his whole action?
Please i am not a lawyer, explain in simple and clear terms (forget the legal jargons) so I that I can learn from you.

If you cannot explain something as simple as possible then you do not understand it... Einstein

A rent or lease is a contractual agreement entered into by the property owner and would be tenant. The rule not allowing guests to stay beyond a specified time or pass the night in some students lodges is predicated on security. If the student was in agreement before he moved into the room,he could be charged with breach of contract and security protocol. He can get away with murder but not manslaughter as it appears he was defending himself but ended up killing the landlord.
The landlord though unfortunately dead would have been charged with forceful entry, forceful enforcement of rules and ordinances, assault and battering and inducing coitus interruptus.
Are you implying that a contract reached between parties cannot be declared illegal because it inhibits/ or impedes the right of one of the parties as recognised by law?

People make stupid rules, and make vulnerable students sign contracts with clauses which inhibit their rights and may not stand if subjected to scrutiny in a law court. How do you lease a property to a person and trespass on that property while the contract lasts?
Wise people learn from misfortune of others. Stupid Landlords, unfortunately for this one, he has no lesson to learn any more. The naive caretaker should live with luring his boss to his death. Bunch of dumb hypocrites!

Today APC and BUHARI is in the presidency, there is no hope for the economy the preached to have understood before inception, I expected a robust, proactive and resilient approach in agriculture, industrialization, improved local production and purchasing, development of impact youth empowerment programmes to resuscitate the economy, but none is the case.
The serious witch hunting of oppositions in the name of corruption fight has never helped our economy one bit, and many are afraid to invest in the country for fear of government approach.
Too many problems has been created within the last one year, OIL price is not the problem but the management and incapable hands at the economy of this great nation.

I can't believed that people are still blaming oil prices as an excuse for the incompetent Buhari.
There has been case studies of how governments have successful shielded nations from commodity price drop, through sound economic policies and besides, this is not even a global recession. Was it this bad in 2007/8.
What is the point stopping rice importation when, our local industry does not have the capacity to cope with demand locally.
How can a leader be encouraging Nigerians of this age to only farm, when doctors, engineers and other professional are all around this country.
Any good government is never afraid of debt, what it is afraid of is a crippling economy, because a working economy can service it's debt since capital is committed to produce good and services which employ people, and tax returns for government expenditure ,but a crippling economy is simple the death of capital, there is no production,no service and no taxes. The concept of driving a car is not the same for an airplane, but it seem Nigerians have employed a driver for our aeroplane.
Good luck with that,is the least I can say.
List the countries in the same economic misfortune as Nigeria today, that has saved the day with smart leadership (speak with fact please)

You talk about debts to resuscitate the economy like it's so easy to get a loan of the magnitude required...you think it's like asking your brother for 50k? No bro, the conditions for getting loans are usually very stringent with far long term implications for economic outcomes in recipient countries.
