This gene is not definitive. It only states it can increase your risk of being obese. Not that it CAUSES you to be obese.

Weight gain is simply due to a calorie surplus, if you eat too much you'll get fat. If you eat too little, you'll loose weight.

Nobody is above loosing or gaining weight.
