Amberon11: Keep calm, I certainly wasn't shaming yorubas and nor was anyone else on the thread.
It is not Pidgin English alone that is eroding our indigenous languages. English language itself is slowly eroding our languages and yes even the Yoruba you think is intact isn't very much intact because at the end of the day most yorubas cannot write in Yoruba language.
It's not that deep you know, it's just a language and nothing stays the same forever. It is very deep and it is not just a language. It is about identity and believing that is worthy of being known and propagated. |

Amberon11: They write their language in English alphabets. Or do they have their own lettering system? The only Africans I give props to whenever such issue is raised are Ethiopians because they have their alphabet. Ok you right about that. But those letters are not English they come from latin |

Let me further add and rock the boat even more:
Certain ethnic groups in Nigeria are noticing and worrying that their language is going extinct. Why won't this happen when you shun ur language and favour pidgin English? You want to laugh at Yorubas but they are having the last laugh. Because at the end of the day their language is intact
That list up there is shameful! |

littlewonders: Is no longer about winning souls.
Gone are those days when church buildings were home for late travellers.
Gone are those days when any church building was a place for anybody to go and pray without asking permission.
Gone are those days when churches held evangelism important than advertising.
Gone are those days when churches only had one doctrine.
Gone are those days when everything has only remained in those days. Catholic church does all those things Maybe perhaps the problem is Pentecostal Christianity? |

Yuugen: Haha, everyone on YouTube is shocked, not just me . They had a video some time ago where they were sayn one twin looked like Justin n the other like the mother, they've been lieing to people all along, this is why many r upset. Some have said she's only coming out with this news now to divert attention from Justin's racist tweets which people were initially upset abt YouTube loves swirlers . Especially when it's a black woman with a white man. That explains why they get a lot of views. A lot of black women trying to live their lives through them. You can't really blame them for milking attention to get views. I personally don't care for them |

I be Yoruba, I know these things, but the Scandinavians surely have a different opinion. Btw, OP, all this one na wash, na there gan gan go turn to community refuse dumping ground.
FTC for the 1st time on Nairaland, no special feeling though. Santo is the Yoruba equivalent of thor. Every culture has their own local gods. |

babajeje123: I don't see maids as external persons, I see them as part of my family. I don't usually stay at home because of the nature of my job. The relatively new maid I have attends a private school in Lagos. Family and friends advised against such but I refused. I can't send my child to a public school, so why will I send her to one? In fact, there was a day I paid her school fees before my daughter's. It didn't go well with my wife but I did it. Why? She is someone's child given to us to help us. So, how do I repay her for the help she is rendering? By meeting immediately her needs. People should learn to treat their maids with dignity and honor. You are indirectly doing it for your children. I always pray a prayer, 'God as I am taking care of this child, take care of my child too'. And He is doing it more than what I can imagine. I don't expect you to come here and say you maltreat a maid. Obviously you won't say that here |

mysteryman2014: Lesbianism is against nature. However if the couple exercise their rights of choice then they must live with. Seeking sperm for fertilization would remove the freedom of choice for the child.
The child raised by the couple would tend to view same sex couple as normal which is unethical. Loool... |
